Linux is really gaining so much traction and support. Companies pushing Playtron instead of another locked down BSD fork really makes me think that Linux will be a first class gaming operating system. All that's left would be some of those big professional software that don't have decent alternatives.

I really don't want those companies like adobe to just port their proprietary garbage over to linux, I want the FOSS alternatives to become better than their stuff. It's not really a win for Linux and the FOSS community when people are just going to use the same proprietary stuff on it.
Can we just sit back and recognize how lucky we are to have linux desktops that are more responsive to the end user than corporate interests. When I look at the yearly improvements to GNOME and KDE and compare them to the invasive Windows and creaky old OSX I'm truly thankful that I have these choices.
I would love to contribute more to KDE, but I don't really have the time to do grand testing or learning to code. All I can do right now is to use it, report bugs I feind along the way and donate to the project.

KDE: too much windows feel, and bloat, and cruft, and unstable -> i heard. so i didnt even try that. Gnome: toooo far away than my workflow, not very keyboard centric either. Cinnamon: nice blend of novelty, familiarity, functionality & lightweightness. Just one thing with Cinnamon DE: the apps like Nemo etc should really be merged with things like Thunar file explorer. I am not sure if XApps will include Nemo too or not.

Watching on Pop_OS Wayland. Been playing all my games on Wayland with an Nvidia card (their graphics drivers suck ass I have to downgrade to keep games running pretty often).
@@pjcpspn670 On openSuSE X11 is still the default (at least for KDE desktop). You can switch to Wayland (it has both types of session), but you don't have to.
Kde 1,2,3,4 and after several patched releases, version 5 went nearly perfect. Now with 6 series: Plasma 5 worked so well now let's screw its foundation with rust and python! I am done with kde.

KDE should first start out on improving the SDK rather than incorporating more languages. The tools and documentation feels incomplete for many.
The problem is that to contribute to KDE you should learn C++ and Qt, that alone is 6 months minimum of intentional learning.
