Is the fierce resistance to the genocide in Gaza a sign of an imperialist system in crisis? What are the various anti-imperialist fronts aligned against the US around the world and what is China’s role? What are the characteristics and contradictions of the US-led imperialist order and in what ways are the chickens coming home to roost in the imperial core?
To discuss this and more, Rania Khalek was joined by Nina Farnia, Assistant Professor of Law at Albany Law School, a longtime activist and a scholar of Critical Race Theory, with a focus on US imperialism and its impact on domestic law. Her forthcoming book is called “Imperialism: An American Story.”

“Operation Iraqi freedom” was the saintly title for the brutal invasion of Iraq. “Operation unified protector” was the angelic name for the destruction of Libya.
“Operation enduring freedom” was the virtuous name given to the unjust invasion of Afghanistan. All in the name of "freedom and democracy".

Palestine situation echoes the struggle of indigenous Americans. Invaded by settlers, killed, pushed off their land & living in an essentially apartheid situation, especially in USA, they have been forced to live the two-state solution. After 500 years, it all has become normalized with "Indian reservations" & systemic racism. It would be good to see these imperialist entities dissolve as consciousness expands to embrace harmony.

Nina is absolutely right about everything; including Iran's well-earned and hard-won freedom from U.S. domination.
The British began raping and pillaging Persia a good while before they enlisted the CIA to overthrow the democratically-elected Mossadeq.
I lived in Iran before and after the revolution, and remember Yasser Arafat being jubilantly welcomed in Iran not long after the Shah's departure.
Yes, Iran has learned many lessons over these past decades. It has been standing, since 1979 (notwithstanding its challenges), as a shining example of self-sufficiency won through principled, brave, and diligent work.
Nations like China and Russia also exemplify this phenomenon. China's "one hundred years of humiliation" served as its driving motivating force to get out from under the yoke of foreigners. Russia has also endured its fair share of extreme motivational adversity.

Thank you Rania, you go from strength to strength in your reportage. Dr Nina Farnia is outstanding in her analysis, and she is so right when she states how ‘Israel does the dirty work’ for the US and the west in the eastern hemisphere, but not just there but also in South America. Ben Norton of Geopolitical Economy Report did an excellent breakdown of the role of Israel in countries like Colombia. Also we have quite a way to go in understanding the racist aspect of greater western project vis-a-vis the people of the global south, where when properly looked at in detail a picture of such evil machinations reveals itself, a repugnant systemic program of cultural, economic and social destruction of societies that’s been at work for several generations now.

As much as I agree with Sister Farnia about the importance of self reliance, especially as a long time member of the Black Liberation Movement, given the capitalist-created global economy, it's probably unattainable at this point in world history. We need radical INTERDEPENDENCE, based on what Farnia called 'multi-polarity', ie, "respect for the heterogeneity of the world. Our strategy: No nation, culture, country or political/economic system should dominate the world at this time.

The biggest revelation I just found out a few months ago was the role china is playing and the genious explorations that they call people to people exchange on economy. One thing I didnt even think about myself was the idea of multipolar earth for EVERY COUNTRY to equally develope on their own agenda and on their own determination and possibility it can create for everyone. If you want to have a good lasting economy than not only quantity matterts but relationships plays even more important role. I knew my country did some really crooked things but the things that got exposed is just shocking in 2024. How do you exploit with a smile than stay with handcuffs? How is that a society that can surive? If it was still in the 1800 or something way back in past than of course it was a jungle and people was judged through violence and physically because people was still evolving daily. However, today..in the world of space, satellite, millions and billions of pixels on the screen, AI, etc..does it make any sense for the world to keep on spinning while a certain group of humans are still using 1800 tactics? Can anyone still ride on a horse to go 1000 miles? absolutely not. you can try but it will not work. What I come up with is that I really dont think US really had any capability to be as strong or even capable to go as far as it was said for so long militarily. What war can the US really say that it was successful and even worth mentioning on the level it says it can go? Only war I can think of was vietnam in my opinion, and what is the story about vietnam? LIES. North vietnam won that battle. All US did was drop bombs and kill so many people but even after that they lost. One of leading general at that time said we underestimated the vietnamese and of course americans will not ever read the fails. Why is there so many chit chat about china but cant even proxie china? In my opinion if people really look into the history than one would know US been trying to take china since decades ago. North and south korea was divided and US been there eversince was not because of north korea but for china. Every single bases in that eastern region was created soley because of china. Dont get fooled people.

Maybe Israel was once a vassal but the roles have reversed to the point that the US oligarchy is for a while US hegemonic imperialism is arbiter for zionist colonialism .The zionist agenda intersects with the settler colonialism of the anglosphere. In point of fact countries such as Italy Germany and Japan are occupied vassal states.During the second world War the Anglo allies bombed almost 2 million civilians .Keep in mind the extermination of hundreds of native nations.English imperialism started in Catholic Celtic Ireland. England is responsible for much of the slave trade drug wars Opium wars in China piracy in the Caribbean At least 100 million Indians died as a result of 9:12 British imperialism 45 trillion in theft. The Anglos invaded the Arab world nonstop. The British used poison gas against an Arab Revolt in Iraq to the barbarous Anglo invasion of Iraq to Libya. The martyrdom of the Palestinian people is authored by the anglo imperialists for at least a century.Keep in mind British Israelism actually precedes Herzl.fyi Israel helped the evangelical dictator in Guatemala massacre tens of thousands of indigenous Maya. The long standing relationship of zionist oligarchs such as the Rothschilds Sasoons in UK and the Baruchs and Adelsons in the US

The ultimate driver of imperialism is capital, which has no particular home, nationality or loyalty, and is its own false god. Imperialism is the international political apparatus of capitalism - the military and diplomatic enforcement system, that first imposed capitalism into pre-capitalist countries by conquests and invasions and gunboat diplomacy, especially through the British and French Empires, and now mostly enforces capitalism by stopping countries from escaping from capitalism via coups and crushing revolutions. Capitalism is a world system and so Imperialism is a world system too. So you can have the USA as the dominant power in Global Imperialism, and also subordinate Imperialist powers exerting influence on the USA while still being dependent on the USA. And pro-Imperial oligarchs come in all varieties.

Similarly Chile Guatemala Iran and the Ukraine had their democracies destabilized and overthrown Soi disant humanitarian interventionism Mass murder from Cambodia to Korea to Iraq to Vietnam .Yet the anglo zionist MSM is uninterested in these atrocities. Please read l'impero del male by Gianluca Ferrara.Italy's top terrorist expert called bith the regimes in the US and Israel "state terrorists " Ask yourself why there are 120 American bases in Italy as if the cossacks were ready to invade Calabria

Looking at the debacle of a debate I’m even more convinced that Blinken and the Zionists in the Biden administration are allowing this genocide in Gaza and the violence and theft by the illegal settlers. It’s so obvious to see that Biden’s actions are hypocritical and I’m not the only one who can see this. Many democrats that would have voted for Biden are so sickened by his actions that they will not be voting for him this time.

As a young man, I read countless accounts of how the Israeli fighter pilots were among the "best trained and effective" in the world. Pakistani fighter pilots flying under Syrian and Jordinian flags proved them wrong on many occasions. The Israelis were shot out of the sky with zero losses to the Pakistanis. Engaging poorly trained Arabs was easy for the Israelis, but they were shocked by the Pakistanis.
