    One of the hardest synths to make sound good - but when it does, it's a credit to the creator and the synth itself - like in this case. The 208 is NOT a happy accident generator - you gotta know what you're doing. This is like flying a 777; no happy accidents come from that endeavor. Another nice video, James.

    so nice! would it be possible to sequence the 208 from ansible/grid the same way you have pressure points set up?

    • @jamescigler
      @jamescigler  4 года назад

      Yes, although it would be best to adapt the pitch and gate signals via something like the 202h module. Buchla oscillators track 1.2v/Oct (instead of the more common 1v) and the “Pulse” signal on Buchla is very specific (10v on initial trigger, and then 5v for the sustain/on portion of a gate).

    • @lilskullymane4057
      @lilskullymane4057 4 года назад

      jamescigler thanks! just picked up a synovatron cvgt for my grid/buchla sequencing needs :)

    • @Genshi
      @Genshi 4 года назад

      @rIchard I have videos of me sequencing the Buchla Music Easel with the Monome ARC and Ansible. I had Synovatron make me a custom Euro to Buchla convertor specifically for that setup (sadly I no longer have the ARC or Ansible.)

  • @drumlesstrance
    @drumlesstrance 4 года назад

    Are you using something like a Synovatron CVGT-1 in this video?

    • @jamescigler
      @jamescigler  4 года назад

      No, although I do need to look into a Euro-Buchla solution for the future.
      In this case I just rigged up a 1/8"-banana connections via alligator clips, as well as the common ground connection.
      I was using Pressure Points, so the 1.2v Oct response of the Buchla didn't matter, I just tuned the voltages on PP by ear... which probably means they're off cause my ear for pitch isn't so great ;D

  • @steveambrose1734
    @steveambrose1734 2 года назад

    Sorry if this is a dumb question but are you using the cv and Gate at the rear or connecting pressure points via the buchla keyboard inputs on the front? Nice jam . I spend hours on mine just going from one sweetspot sound to another then realise I should of recorded it. Great fun.

    • @jamescigler
      @jamescigler  Год назад

      This is an older clone (208r) and it does not have 1v/Oct input on the back like the 208c. I think I just used some alligator clips to connect the tip of a 1/8” patch cable out of Pressure Points to a banana cable into the Pitch input on the 208. Then using another alligator clip, connecting the sleeve of the 1/8” cable to another banana to the Ground input on the 208 - this gives them a common ground connection.

    Very nice sound! How do you make this « distortion effect »?

    • @jamescigler
      @jamescigler  Год назад +2

      Thanks! It’s a combination of the AM (amplitude modulation) and Timbre controls, and choosing the right pitch relationship between the Modulation and Complex oscillators.

    My friend got a really good deal and got a 2nd hand music Easel for just over 2000quid. He then discovered a minor fault with the keyboard and contacted Buchla who sent him out a new keyboard. He then sold the broken keyboard for about 1200 so basically got a really good condition music easel with new keyboard for 800 pounds.... amazing
