Great video. I think I now know why my ferritin is high and how to fix it so l don't need to continue with blood donations. ( Maybe one more - I've only done one so far)
Thanks for posting this and all your iron videos.

@@swintegrative How many blood donations do you have to do before you get rid of all excess iron stored in the bodys tissues or liver? Also if your ferritin drops dramatically after each donation is that probably iron overload and if it doesnt drop much its probably inflamation causing the high ferritin instead, does that sound right.

Nope u can’t tell by how much the ferritin drops. It’s hard enough doing thorough and repeated testing.

I 7:40 i used to be low in iron because of heavy menstrual cycle all my life so at 40 I did hysterectomy now I have high ferritin levels. I have knee problems which doctor tells me is inflammation only but I don’t feel well and now I’m scared I have some thing bad that is going to turn into cancer. I don’t know how to lower my ferretin levels.
Because of that inflammation on the knee I become less active, so I’m sure I am insulin resistant, so I am frustrated in every way.

I think you’ll benefit from looking at my other videos on high ferritin, iron saturation, etc. look for the iron playlist.

Here is my issue as an academic, health professional and someone who recently had some elevated liver enzymes as well as gallbladder stones/sludge. So, being an academic in health field, I went online reading everything I could find about slightly elevated enzymes and just didn't come to any positive conclusion. Specialists, medical specialists advice more protein, no processed foods, no sugar and fruits, not legumes etc. Others, suggest legumes and cheese, turmeric etc., etc.. I looked up scientific literature in the last 5 years and unpaid research is inconclusive. So, as on all matters medical, what are people to believe? So confusing.

I think k it is helpful to look at the underlying drivers of high liver enzymes when asking this question as it will be different for each person. So u might have one person that befits from lower carb diet and another that benefits from another strategy. Most people eat more card than they are using and so that is a common strategy that works.
