This should not be the headline. There should be no 11th day because there should be no negotiations. You are disrupting the campus thus you are going to leave, or you will be expelled. Upon expulsion you will be arrested for trespassing. There, negotiations completed. The principle of free speech (as the right is only applicable to the government) does not extend to interfering with the rights of others.
@barryseebo3535, I understand your perspective and the need for order on campus. However, it's important to remember that universities are places of learning and growth, and part of that growth involves challenging existing norms and advocating for change. While it's true that free speech rights are often associated with government restrictions, they also extend to other public spaces, including universities. The principle of free speech is not just about the right to express one's views, but also the right to protest and seek change. Expulsion or arrest might seem like straightforward solutions, but they don't address the underlying issues that led to the protest in the first place. Instead of shutting down these discussions, we should be encouraging dialogue and understanding. Negotiations can be a constructive way to address grievances, find common ground, and work towards solutions that respect the rights and needs of all parties involved. Remember, today's students are tomorrow's leaders. The skills they learn in navigating these complex issues will serve them and our society in the future. Let's give them the space to learn, grow, and lead.
@@Krantzstone However, they are on private property. If they are told to vacate the area and they refuse, then they are trespassing. Staging a days long siting to show your dissatisfaction with something going on in a foreign county is an effort in futility. Furthermore, we have video of students who do not want a discussion, they want to use the hecklers veto for differing opinion, make statements related to genocide while protesting what they perceive as genocide, have faculty (the real source) supporting their actions and thinking, constantly make statements there is historically ignorant, and in one viral case, do not even know why they are there protesting. Isreal is a terrorist state
This should not be the headline.
You also cant protest on private property and cause violence to others while doing it. Check the dictionary. That is the definition of terrorism lol.
Don’t see how they’re interfering with the rights of others if they aren’t being violent. If the school decides to shut down Thats on them 🤷🏻♀️
@barryseebo3535, I understand your perspective and the need for order on campus.
@@naomivought9317 They are interfering with the free movement of others. This is no different than those who block traffic.
@@Krantzstone However, they are on private property. If they are told to vacate the area and they refuse, then they are trespassing. I am not saying they cannot protest, or have their say, but 11 days of occupation is beyond what would be considered reasonable. While a booth to say here is what is happening in a foreign country y is acceptable.
