  • In this video, we go over the proper way to adjust the cam chain and set the valve clearances for the CB175 / CL175 / SL175 / CB200 / CL200 family of motorcycles. Cam chain and valve adjustment are the second and third steps in the regular engine tune-up process; this adjustment must be performed every 1500 miles (2400 km) alongside an oil change and ignition timing. The cam chain should be adjusted prior to the valves to ensure proper camshaft placement for the adjustment. Having the necessary skills and knowledge to service your vintage Honda every 1,500 miles (2,400 km) is key to having a reliable, well-performing daily driver. This is what we consider here at Common Motor Collective essential knowledge required when owning one of these motorcycles.
