Two things I noticed, that unbelievable hype man on that climb and your genuine concern for that chap that had a crash. Shows what sort of person you are. Good on you Jono ❤️
Congrats! The fact that you got a second wind really shows how long and physical the stage is. You can blow up, recover, get after it, and blow up again all in one downhill. Well done, looking forward to next year already.
The Mega is still THE mountain bike race. What it really needs is a earlier starting time,so we can have firm snow. When it's soft it's not fun and takes away all your energy. I've done it 7 times between 2001 and 2010,and I will be back someday. Great race and great video,Jono! Cheers from Portugal
I wonder if it wouldn't have been an advantage to ride a Fatty on this run? It certainly would have been faster on the soft snow during the first 6 or so minutes. Whether you could have gained enough time to make up for the disadvantage on the single-track in the lower portions of the run, I don't know. But I think it might.
Jono! I loved your effort brother! As a 55 year old mountain biker, I only dream of riding the mega avalanche. Thank you for racing and sharing your video.
One of the best Mega Avalanche videos I've ever watched..... I could feel the pressure when you were sprinting on that climb man!!!!!! It was unbelievable how you were concerned about that crashed rider on the trail which I've never seen with any other rider at a race.... Hats Off to you Jono!!!!! Respect !!!!🙏🙏🙏 Ride Safe!!!!1
Great video. Seeing you include your crashes that you could have edited out made the video more real and more human. You’re obviously an amazing rider but seeing you be human really helps demonstrate what a class act you are on a bike. Thanks for posting!
Being 3:30 into a Mega Avalanche, shouts out; "Arms are starting to pump up now.. Making it hard to control my braking..!" 😂 Continues to keep ripping and pushing it, right till the end! 👌That's class. Props for keep pushing it right until the very end! This is so good! Got me all hyped upp, behind my computer... Yewww!
That was a mega effort. The hype dude on the climb was also giving it all. Nice to see the kids with the shirts waiting for out of breath Jono to sign their stuff. 😂
🎉 well done Jono that’s one epic race dude, love it at the beginning “I hate this” and at the end “we’ll be back next year“ brilliant mate we’ll done again for completing and only one off legend 🤙
What an amazing race...What an amazing ride! Thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us! It looks like selfless torture to us mere mortals, but we can tell just how enjoyable it is to accomplish something so hard. Absolutely amazing and entertaining! Can't wait til your next race of hell!
Your heart was bursting through your chest, your lungs couldn’t keep up, your legs failed, your hands and arms stopped working and yet you are one a very select few elite riders to do the Mega. Excellent ride, well done & thank you for sharing.
Of all places on that course to have an off and Jono finds the sharp rocks, what a great effort to get up then push through all sorts after a pretty serious spill 💪
Prime example of why an intense warm up would likely prevent the hand and arm pump during the race, like getting your second wind at the start of the race instead of dealing with the lactic acidosis build-up during.
Only words I have for this is brutal I am going to watch this again in November to give me some encouragement as I’ve planned a trip to see my friend in Scotland we’re going bike packing for 2 weeks the downside i’m taking my heavy 2014 glory and he’s riding his Trek session So see you in April when we finished the first climb lol
I think the first rule of participating in this race is that you have to be nuts! Well done to all the guys who have the guts and skills to do this race!
Having done some 24hr races I know how it feels to think this is horrible why am I doing this to myself and still thinking this is so awesome. Good work!
Been watching Megaavalanche for years now, I’m 38 but I’d like to at least come here once in my life just to complete the run. This is the ultimate experience. Every surface imaginable is there, fantastic views, nature at is most beautiful and harsh. I don’t think I have the body to finish this but maybe in the next few years I will at least go as a spectator.
Jono, so impressed with your skill and line choice when you were burnt out. I am a former Army endurance athlete and know exactly what you were describing with pumped arms and jelly legs, much respect.
You have the Grip but at a cost .....go matt your an athelete loved it. See you there now I've had my catteracts done! Love to get into the main one day!
it's a bugbear of mine artificial compound words like that, so I refer to it as Mega Valanche or sometimes Meg Avalanche but never Mega-Avalanche as spoken with one running into the other - I'm just too stubborn for such a clunky misuse of grammar! it might look alright written down but spoken is another matter
Some gnarly crashes there. You don't see that watching the winning/2nd place run videos. They almost make you think you could take part in this, Jono's gritty account and the many fallen soldiers we saw along the way puts paid to any such notions haha.
I've watched plenty of Mega Avalanche videos Jono, including those of race winners. I've never been more excited watching it. Cracking job mate.
This 100%
I had the same feeling. The midpack stuff is always more action-oriented and "realistic" for us mortals
I use the grooves in the snow and Gravel that’s how my Ridding Style is 3:08
What are you going to do those two guys way front 13:43
God that is exactly it!❤
Two things I noticed, that unbelievable hype man on that climb and your genuine concern for that chap that had a crash. Shows what sort of person you are. Good on you Jono ❤️
Hype man fucked him lol
I also noticed a guy in a mankini
I only noticed him while editing this 😂 Let’s get him back on the channel!
Crowd was cheering on Jono! Hope I didn’t pour too much water on your back Jono 😂 smashed it!
He was there for the challengers as well, true dedication!
Congrats! The fact that you got a second wind really shows how long and physical the stage is. You can blow up, recover, get after it, and blow up again all in one downhill. Well done, looking forward to next year already.
Brain goes on some wild journeys down that course! Almost an hour for the pain to relocate around the body about 30 times 😂
Love it! "I think I'm going to be sick.." Then proceeds to sprint pedal like a mad man!!
Kudos to the hype man for helping you on that climb!
Helped but gave up halfway 😅 just about the point where the heart rate peaked and lactic effects took over. That's when he should have started..
have been waiting for this vid to come out and now its here, loved the vid, keep up the content

Having watched Kilian's run, I think Jono's is a much truer depiction of the real-world experience of doing a Megavalance😂
Kilian isn't human, so watching him racing makes it look easy.
@@AndersonPagani LOL Kilian is a beast
Jono! I loved your effort brother! As a 55 year old mountain biker, I only dream of riding the mega avalanche. Thank you for racing and sharing your video.
You can do it!!
Wow - you ascend like a demon - great leg work. Thanks for the vid. Brilliant.
Loved the support from pompo 👌 great effort jono 🤙
He’s the best! 🇵🇹
Fantastic film. You took us on the journey. I loved it.
110% given.

Excellent achievement Jono a true English athlete “till the end” and showing compassion for those who have fallen!
Fantastic video! Had me shouting at my phone a few times there! Especially tge guy at the end trying to pass you! 😮💨👊🏻😂😂😂
Wonderful video, racing and caring for those that fall ... 'ave it fella! You're a good bloke .. ;)
Not sure which looked the most scary. The track or the guy in the Borat mankini.
Great video. Seeing you include your crashes that you could have edited out made the video more real and more human. You’re obviously an amazing rider but seeing you be human really helps demonstrate what a class act you are on a bike. Thanks for posting!
You’re an absolute legend Jono!!!
Love that you could barely shout ‘rider’ when that guy had fell off 🤣🤣 well done Jono, epic !!!
It was a soft whisper of kindness 😂
@@Jono_Jones 🤣🤣
some of that is like riding on the moon!!! what a log jam at the start, chaos.
Being 3:30 into a Mega Avalanche, shouts out; "Arms are starting to pump up now.. Making it hard to control my braking..!" 😂 Continues to keep ripping and pushing it, right till the end! 👌That's class. Props for keep pushing it right until the very end!

Watching that riding in the snow is like running in a dream.
your dream running is strange for sure :)
Class Jono brilliant feckin quality keep it going mate
This is the second time in my life I've typed the word 'enthralling', these last two videos being responsible for both occasions.
You're a trooper.
Thank you! Speaking of big words, I’m stoked to be the beneficiary of the aforementioned word 😊
That was a mega effort.
The hype dude on the climb was also giving it all.
Nice to see the kids with the shirts waiting for out of breath Jono to sign their stuff. 😂
Hype dude was the best until I popped like a balloon 😂
Great job!! My dream!!! Megavalache!!
🎉 well done Jono that’s one epic race dude, love it at the beginning “I hate this” and at the end “we’ll be back next year“ brilliant mate we’ll done again for completing and only one off legend 🤙
Rollercoaster of emotions every time!
The Mega has to be my favourite race to watch, absolutely the full meal deal.
Great effort and awesome riding!
Respect to you Jono! 💪 This race challenges you so much! Technical lines, many climbs and SNOW! 😅

Dude we can feel your pain and suffering even though the video.. Well done man!
Oioi !!! Well done Jono hopefully see you at ardrock that ride was epic
Of all places on that course to have an off and Jono finds the sharp rocks, what a great effort to get up then push through all sorts after a pretty serious spill 💪
Way to go Jono🎉. The fact that you made it to the finish. Congratulations 👏. Looking forward to next year!!! Keep up the great content.
This is something to watch, well done great video.
Prime example of why an intense warm up would likely prevent the hand and arm pump during the race, like getting your second wind at the start of the race instead of dealing with the lactic acidosis build-up during.
Arm pump was ridiculous, pretty sure I had it before the rocks even started!
Wow, I had to pause the video for a smoke and a beer..
Holy crap.. great ride!
Well young man !I am 81 years old and I have never seen sports courage like it .Well done Sir you should be verry pleased with yourself
I watch a lot of these and this was wonderful. Had me on the edge of my seat. Feel free to upload the unedited version. I'd love to see it, too.
Deaks getting right in your face as you cross the line completely knackered 🤣🤣🤣
Brutal run! You should be happy with just that 1 crash.
Great run bud. Respect to everyone who finished that race.
I was out of breath just watching that, Crazy.
Respect to your guy on the climb, he made you move.
Nice one jono !!

Those lads following you up the climb were legends!!!
Couldn’t agree more!!!
You did the road climb near the bottom better than expected at least 😂
Wait for me next time 😂
It's good to see this race from the middle. More action!
Better race than the ones in front! Even a sprint to the finish line! 💥
Awesome job . Good recovery for the last bit . Keep smashing it 👌👌👌

I'm so satisfied with his ride no matter in which position u achieve 💪
That crash hurt through the screen. Man you alright
Meg...Avalanche. Meg..Avalanche. Meg.Avalanche. MegAvalanche. Megavalanche. You're welcome x
it's a bugbear of mine artificial compound words like that, so I refer to it as Mega Valanche or sometimes Meg Avalanche but never Mega-Avalanche as spoken with one running into the other - I'm just too stubborn for such a clunky misuse of grammar! it might look alright written down but spoken is another matter
"You all good, you okay?"
Jono, proving he's the nicest man in MTB!
Good work man. I'm starting to think about doing this insanity 😂
Great run ❤
Really recommend it! No pressure, just a bunch of people battling the rawness of it all!
Some gnarly crashes there. You don't see that watching the winning/2nd place run videos. They almost make you think you could take part in this, Jono's gritty account and the many fallen soldiers we saw along the way puts paid to any such notions haha.
and how dirty the rest of the pack gets!
And so many mechanicals!
"My arms are blowing, my legs are jelly.... Mom's spaghetti!"
