I wasn't a huge fan of the duet because his energy is so different from hers, but Illan's solo is really interesting to watch. He movements are engaging. Song choice was fantastic, too. And Mardi's is such a lovely feminine movement! Of course, RB looks like a deity of the stage. Gotta love her!
I have never seen a belly/tribal fusion dance style like this, performed by a male dancer before!! It’s something that I (like most folks I imagine) always associate with women and the female silhouette--but this....this is absolutely incredible to see done by a male silhouette!!😳 Like for real though...I thought all the “old stories” of men throwing their old lives and all caution to the wind, after becoming totally captivated and enthralled by an almost “mystical femme fatale”-were a bit silly and overdramatic. Yeah, nope. I get it.... I totally get it now... this dude would definitely be in possession of all my monetary and earthly belongings by the end of the night....😆 This is unbelievably hypnotic!!❤️

when it comes to dance, I believe that any gender roles and sexual orientation should be set aside. We all should enjoy the beauty of Illan's (or any other dancers) abilities, creativity and simply appreciate their art.

well, dancing tribal enables you to wear anything that you think looks tribal. many Native Americans used to wear feathers, furs and body paint -why is it wrong to use these attributes for a tribal dancer? nobody gets offended when tribal dancers wear bindi, turbans, harem pants, etc.... so why should anybody get offended when a tribal dancer wears a native-looking outfit?
He isn't wearing anything traditionally Native/Native American. Feathers aren't owned solely by them as a form of adornment, and neither is body paint. He also dances TRIBAL fusion. The makeup and costume lend itself to the performance, and isn't specific to any Native group. It's different then uneducated festival goers wearing bindis and full Native American headdresses as a part of their costume because it 'looks cool'.

dancing tribal does "NOT" give you a free pass to wear anything you think is tribal.
