Her approach to teaching is the best! Insanely talented woman, yet she seems like the coolest person :)

Lina yes, she's great as a woman, as a dancer and as a teacher as well! I highly recommend to study with her!

I felt for the longest time that sensual part of myself was dead. Then I came upon this lady. I found ITV as alive and well all I had to do was stoke the fire.

The interesting thing to me regarding belly dance: I don't have ADHD but I do get distracted a lot. Not to mention stressed as well. I used to even have self harm problems, but ever since I've heard about Belly dance and even started doing a little bit, the urge to cut is pretty much gone at this point. This has made such a positive point in my life, and I don't wanna imagine what my life would be without it..

@Joobie Joob I'm glad you've find with belly dancing, a way to manage your reaction to the hard times and the stress it has generated. Dance saved my life and I can see the help you've got from that. I know, face pain and emotions in life is not easy, but Dance and Art, always give us a break from our mind, that sometimes is tricky. Keep going with Dance and you will be stronger, day by day. Someday can be hardest, someday you may fall, but you will stand up and shimmy again and again! Keep going in being your best friend!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I'm sure other women will get inspired from you.
I wish you to be strong and happy

So helpful. I’m not a belly dancer. I study Flamenco. I love watching Rachel. This interview was helpful for me.
Things I’m taking away: Video myself. Make lists of things to work on. Develop a practice. Best advice. Thanks, Rachel.

Alicia Chapa Love how wonderfully articulate Rachel is, and brings the mindset, concerns, and the reality of how you learn, and grow. She's so open and balanced, and I appreciate her commitment to honoring dance and the joy of it, rather than compitition only and the ugly aspects of entertainment. Exactly what you'd want in a teacher. This is why she is so highly regarded throughout the dance community.

Love this! I love how Rachel's face lights up when she talks about how exciting it is to raise expectations for dancers in training and see them meet them. She clearly has passion as a teacher, and seeing that passion makes me admire her even more!

You have great values Rachel. It's hard to find them amongst people let alone dancers.I did exotic dance for over 20 yrs.And the other dancers were about disharmony.Never unity.Very sad. It's refreshing to hear you talk. And gives me hope for DancerKind!
