Mr. Ken at the depot has passed away. There is a statue of him at the depot. I remember standing at the end of the runway when the B17 came in for a landing.
We moved here from california last year and live within walking distance of Mel’s. They had a fire several months ago and will be opening soon. They have been closed and very much missed. Thank you for this amazing video that I’m going to share on my social media page for all my friends and family to get a look at our new hometown.
I was born and raised in Tomball. My grandma wrote the book The History of Tomball in 1976. Many of her pictures featured in the book are hanging up at the lobby in Denny's and in the museum. ❤
I miss The Nook. I lived out that way from 2000-2014. I'm currently in Katy. My favorite breakfast place is a little drive over to Patti's in Pattison.
Horrible experience at Mel's Diner. Ordered a Ruben and got burnt black bread with maybe two slices of meat, very little in the sandwich. Sent it back to get normally toasted bread and only the top was replaced and the bottom was till burnt black and the sandwich was cold. I was so excited to try this place, but it was a big disappointment. No mention of Tejas Chocolate & BBQ in Old Town Tomball???
You need to come back. Tomball has changed SOOOO much in the past 9 years!
Yeah, it's somehow more cookie-cutter and suburban 🤷♂️
Sadly that B-17 was destroyed in a mid-air collision at a Dallas airshow on Nov 12, 2022.

We moved to Tomball from The Woodlands just over a month ago and we love it here.
I love your content , This should be on prime time TV like Texas Country reporter used to be
Thanks for your great show!! I may have on the news, get disgusted switch to “Day Tripper” and I start smiling 🙂…Thanks Chet, your crew and Family
It has been a while since I have been there as I now live in Katy, but Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue is tha bomb.
Mel's Diner burned down April 16, 2023, but they are building it back.
Their webpage shows that it is now open.
Lol, Shane from Texas Bucket List finished the Mega Mel..just saying 🤣
Loving all of your new videos!! Puts me in the mood to explore again. Thank you.
The B-17 is truly awesome.
You missed the best breakfast at The Nook.

It use to be called Red Bird Airport back in the 70's.

When was this filmed? My neck of the woods.
Chat when you went to the tea room mentioned manners you didn't put your little pinky up when you drink your tea
First with an actual comment. Tomball simply rocks…
I can watch the incredible dude 😎 all day.
No mention of Goodson’s? Blasphemy!
Agreed!
I grew up in Magnolia in the 70's and 80's. Goodson's cafe was awesome. The chicken fried steak is still the best I've had.
Goodsons went downhill
I went to Mel's decades ago because I heard it was great. It wasn't anything special.
If you want good chicken fried steak in Tomball go to Goodson's.
Mels was not realky known for their chicken fried steaks....that was Goodsons.
But it's all good
Originally called Peck
Is Mel’s back open? It caught fire not that long ago.
as far as i know..... no..
In 3 to 4 weeks.
It is open. Today is June 1,2024
No mention of historic Goodson's?
Why bother. Same boring menu for 275 years.
Is Goodsons still open
@pict4119 yes. Same menu as 100 years ago
Dork.
