    I gave my parents my old Lenovo M72e Tiny PC (i5-3470t, 8gb DDR3, 256gb SSD) for Christmas this year to replace the A6-6400k system I built for them 4 or 5 years ago. They couldn't believe something that size could not only replace their entire computer tower, but be faster at the same time. I had to turn it on in front of them before they believed me, and now everyone else in the family wants a tiny computer too!

    • @Tekeverything

      Haha, its pretty crazy how small computers are these days. Glad you got to blow their minds.

      VeeTeeF a6 6400k are not had cpu for the price! , all of our office computer has a6 6400k with 750evo 120gb ssd and they are fast enough to do exel work and basic web work + some gaming when they employees are bored.......

    • @vinyfiny2019
      @vinyfiny2019 6 лет назад +1

      Kuntal Ghosh My parent's computer also only had 4gb of ram. I probably could've upped the ram to fix some of the multitasking issues, but I got the Lenovo for only $150 so I figured swap everything out.

    • @vinyfiny2019
      @vinyfiny2019 6 лет назад

      Zhao Zhao My parents have no need for the GPU performance. The most GPU intensive thing they do is watch RUclips videos. The 3470t can do that better due to supporting hardware acceleration for newer standards than the a6-6400k, having much higher IPC, and having hyperthreading.

    Is the motherboard on tall-ish standoffs. Reason I ask is a good trick is to route some cabling under the motherboard- they are insulated so won't short. I do it all the time in my builds especially for the eps connector and fan cables.

    • @Tekeverything
      @Tekeverything  6 лет назад +2

      No, it isn't on tall standoffs. There is very little space between the board and the case bottom.

      Sure, you could find something 'less powerful', but in this instance, it's not so much the actual specs of the processor, but what's readily and inexpensively available - even if it is overkill for the application. On the plus side, that rig will probably be more than sufficient for mom's needs for quite a long time.
      I just resurrected a Core2 Duo a couple of weeks ago - an old used Core2 motherboard and CPU into a 2004-vintage eMachine case. I use it to run XP Home and some older software I have that simply will not run in Win10. You're right - it's still a very capable machine and handles that old software with power to spare.
