Were you right with the branching carbohydrates first time? Branching a second unit from C1 would require activating a C-H bond, which couldn't be done with a condensation reaction.
Yes - you are right. It should be an alpha-1,6-glycosidic bond to make the branchpoint. Not sure what I was thinking there - will try and record a revised version with the correct bonding.
