Fun fact. I love how Second Dinner incorporates these Supers abilities into simple card mechanics. It's ingenious how they do it. Medusa and Crystal are sisters and that's why they both have the same power and relie on the same location. Crystal is stronger that's why she cost twice as more and doesn't have to work for her power. Medusa however can be as strong as Crystal under the right circumstances. Lockjaw is Crystal's companion and his ability is teleportation mostly. Crystal utilizes movement with her manipulation of the elements. That's why their abilities are the same in different ways. Zabu is the companion of Ka-Zar. That's why he's affecting 4-costs. Second Dinner is doing so much more right than people are even talking about. Now that Alex has a comic book subscription I'd love to see him make short lore videos related to abilities. (I'll leave a similiar comment over on his channel)
Also like how Kingpin’s ability also goes with his location “Fisk tower”. Fisk relies on stomping the opponent on where they move, but Daredevil knows their opponents move before it’s played
I was wondering a lot why they made Red Skull's ability and power the way they did. The character wasn't that strong in the comics that he should be a 15 power card as much as I know. Most of the other cards' abilities are okay lorewise with this exception.
I had a game the other day where District X replaced my whole Thanos deck :/ but I tried to win anyway… Turn6 was ending and I was losing 2 locations, then M’Baku jumped to one of them and won me the game 😂 I flipped out because I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA he was even in my deck 😭❤️

When I was a kid Fantastic Four was my favorite comic book to read. If I had one (minor) criticism of Snap it's that those four cards don't synergize more with each other.
I’d imagine it’s hard to make them have synergy just cuz each characters ability is really on flavor. Honestly you could’ve had like all of them be 4 cost, I’d do like mr fantastic: “4 cost cards cost 2 less” the thing: “4 cost cards have +4 power” idk I’m just spitballing

You are right on the nose Cozy with the tip of playing and mastering one deck to climb the ladder. I myself played only one deck this season and am doing well enough in my first full season in pool 3. I only switch up my deck slightly when there is a hot or feature location.
Vision is not good because of the mind games, its good because you’re not going to die to Aero on turn 5 and then you can guarantee a win in a lane you’re behind and Leader just wins afterwards because you’re controlling where your Power is going, makes it more difficult for the opponent to break the symmetry of Leader.
Alex absolutely nails it when he says innovate with your deckbuilding. When Snapzone publish their meta decks of the week and everyone flocks to netdeck, I don't look to play any of them, rather I use the meta insight to build something that stands a chance against the perceived "boogeyman" of the field. Competitive CCGs call this anti-meta, and in Marvel Snap it is even easier to go Maverick because you can retreat to avoid bad matchups! The other factor is that quite often the "best deck" requires a very rare or expensive card that not many people have, e.g. Bast in Negative Sera. So people will go down the list and find the best meta deck that they can build. This means that it can be more important to meta against the Leech decks that are being played by 25% of players, rather than the Negative Sera decks that are being used by 1% of players.

I’ve played a lot of card games in my time, and this is some of the best content I’ve ever seen for one. Y’all are playing a significant role in building the Snap community.

I have a really polished doomtriot deck that I love to death and I'm good with, to the point that when I do want to try tweaking something, I make a deck copy first before tweaking it (and then trash the copy after a few losses). I rose to 75 with it and hit a wall, started messing around with deathwave/deathpool, some hela, leech-leader... Fell back to the 50's. And it was a slow burn too, but eventually, I went back to my doomtriot. Back to 75 in a day.
Pro tip on deck experimentation: Multiple accounts. I started from launch on iPhone then bought a Samsung a month later and was disappointed that I couldn't continue my progress. Now I use my iPhone essentially as an iPod and just play different decks and experiment there while running my standard deck on my main account. I can also try new cards so I know if they're worth the tokens or not. It's not a perfect system, but it has its benefits.
I think a slept on card is uatu the watcher because if you get it in your opening hand being able to see locations before they reveal can essentially let you get an edge on your opponent
Alexander, it's cool that you are starting with the X-Men! It gets REALLY good when the All-New, All-Different teams shows up (Storm, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Banshee, Thunderbird, Colossus, and Sunfire) around issue #90 of Uncanny X-Men. And the art is generally fantastic. That team's early run-ins with Magneto were epic, and so was the Jean Grey's Phoenix era. Good stuff! Btw, Kazar and Zabu make an appearance in a few of the Savage Land books from the run I mention above (#90 - #130ish).
Im not sure how much crossover there is here but any fan of Barstool Sports should immediately recognize Alex voice and appearance as Big Cat lol. Def a compliment my dude. Both of you are great
Dive into anything by Hickman. He is one the of the best writers and story-tellers. Also the Abnett and Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy run is awesome.
Hickman's run on Fantastic Four / Future Foundation / Illuminati / Secret Wars might be the best anything from Marvel ever. Annihilation from Abnett and crew is incredible too!
Why i Love Marvel Snap Because the Developers and Moderators sometimes is listening to the Community and Other players and sometimes opinion of the Community about problem, broken Deck and Nerfing and Buffing cards.
Cozy, your in depth deck guides are great. The infographics are the best thing. I've been screenshotting them for future reference as I wait for key card unlocks. I think you posted a few on Reddit before, would love for you to throw up more posts with just all the infographics and can just visit your profile page to easily revisit all the infographics.
Out of the top of my head, you could have a deck with a spiderman absorbing man combo on turn 5, you lock down 2 locations and have tons of space for other combos
I've been playing a deck I call the lockjaw shuffle where you play crystal on lockjaw on turn 4 if you have all your high power cards in your hand. It takes alot of the RNG out of the deck and makes it more consistent
Thanks for bringing a healthy attitude towards this great game. I like the card highlights! I am annoyed with the snail pace progress of unlocking new and "strong" cards. I am constantly beaten by meta cards which I do not have access to. It seems like the collector caches drop mostly irrelevant items, and the bundle prices are insane. Turn 6 is basically roshambo in most games, I wish there was a more competitive way to play this game with more balance and less crazy unpredictable outcomes. Happy New Year Cozy!
"Climactic" has three Cs. The word it is related to is "climax," and not "Climate." Zabu vs Silver Surfer though, you get to wait up to turn 6 to draw Surfer, so you have a lot more tries. Drawing Zabu by 3 is gonna be much harder.
If i remember correctly, Zabu is Kazzar's Pet? or Companion or whatever, so the synergy with the 4 cost makes sense. I think it would be more balanced if he reduced 4 costs by 1, this would allow you to play Kazzar AND a 1 cost on turn 4, which gives you synergy on both cards
Total Agree I have played Alex's Dino Zola deck and have taken a card out and put another into to test it. The only way I change decks if the a feature on the board that is crazy and I can't use it. I have also use Cozy's Death wave and I got to figure where to put Omega Red.
I think the best think I like about Marvel Snap is how much it reminds me of playing "Overpower" back in high school. For those of you who don't know what "Overpower" is CCG that came out about 25 years ago and played similar to snap, although we had house rules so my group of friends basically made our own game using the cards. Sadly old Overpower cards did not become as valuable as Pokemon or Magic cards.
I've had matches where I get my deck replaced with 10 Random cards and I've had M'Baku jump out on the last turn of matches that I already had in the bag, like HA SAVED YOU!
If you're enjoying X-Men as a series you could check out the newer stuff like House of M if the more modern illustrations and takes on characters is your thing. I'd recommend a series like Kravens Last Hunt myself, always loved that series for adding so much to the dynamic of Kraven & Spidey. Either way hope you enjoy diving into the world of Comics Alex. I think people are starting to notice Ultron! He is so good. Basically filling every empty space in other locations is so useful for the zoo decks! There is only one BIG problem. KILLMONGER
I pulled m'baku from a cache early on and he's actually won me a couple games using cerebro 2. I always forget about him and its so hilarious seeing him jump out of nowhere to win me a game I thought I lost. m'baku fans rise up
COZY'S FINALLY SIPPIN THE MBAKU JUICE LET'S GOOOO!!!!!!!!! I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I bought Mbaku in the token shop and he's just an awesome card for zoo decks, between Okoye and your typical ongoing boosters, I've had Mbaku save me a handful of times with a surprise 7 power!
I always looked a Vision and though well at 5 cost you only get to move him once but I hadn’t really been introduced to the idea of ramping yet, with that in mind yeah he seems like a huge play
DD: yo Alex. i can only comment on Daredevil comics. the best ones to read are the Frank Miller and Brian Michael Bendis run. story lines 'Born Again', 'The Guardian Devil', and 'Parts of A Hole'. the light-hearted run of Mark Waid is also awesome. in fact. read all of Daredevi. one of the best written characters out there. that is why he is my favorite.
I don't have Darkhawk, but I've been mixing in RockSlide more simply because I got the Christmas variant and wanted to upgrade the card some. I will say he's been clutch in messing up some Lockjaw/Jubilee decks. They hope to pull Infinaut and get a rock instead, it feels so good.
Can you imagine how just being able to play something else between turns 4 - 6 in Kazoo decks will change those decks up? That's just the most simplest of Zabu uses. Zabu is gonna be one of those cards like Lockjaw, Patriot, Surfer, Mr Negative. Great if you get him in hand. Feel really bad if you don't. I just don't like that much rng.
Read King in Black, Immortal Hulk, Savage Avengers, Daredevil 2018, Spidergeddon, and you cant go wrong with any of the Ultimate titles like Ultimate Xmen, Marvel Zombies, Fantastic Four, Spiderman. Honestly theres so much theres no point in starting from the beginning. Since you mentioned Xmen i would recommend Astonishing Xmen
Mastering a deck is important, like with any card game. Build a Captain marvel deck and lost like 6 ranks and then climbed by 10. Frustrating but to good when it falls into place.
T6 snapping is bluff tactic. I setup a combo with an obvious finish but I don’t have the last piece. Opponents run and I win 1 cube instead of losing 1 or 2
You could Fix M'Baku, IMO, by making him a 5/5 with the same effect. The card will still be trash but it might be worth taking a chance on a free 5 power coming for your deck.
Can you guys please highlight how ludicrous the cost of these bundles are ranging from 70$ can- 150$ Canadian is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind paying 20$ or so on top of the seasons pass to unlock some cards or variants, but when you're making bundles for a couple cards cost more than full blown PS5 games its a major turn off and demotivating factor towards building my collection. On top of the scarcity or collectors tokens.
I don’t hear anyone on RUclips talking about this problem that I keep running into. I just sent this to the Marvel Snap Twitter account: “The mmr system means that there is no reason to start playing this game if you are going to be any good at it. You are never going to be able to climb in rank, and are just going to see your level drop at the end of each season. Now, if you are infinite, you don't have to worry about this. You can be a bad player, and still keep your rank by preventing people from moving up. And at the end of the season, you won't go down (past 100). And to make matters worse, you combine rewards to rank. So people who became infinite when it was easier to do (less cards, less competition, etc.), but are not as good as those coming in get all the free benefits of being infinite. This leads to them being able to get the best new cards (and the token shop has just made this worse). And this stuff really stands out while someone new to the game keeps losing to them. I come from the board game / ccg side of things, and I was all about this game when I first found it. But I have watched as my fellow gamers (often under my recommendation) have downloaded the game just to give it up when they ran into this. If you want the game to have legs, then you really should do something about this. What is the point of getting a game where everything is stacked against you, unless you are already in the club.”

I've been playing the left Lane winner, first w/o Spiderman and was having fun but had a low win rate, then I got spiderman, started winning way more, also made some personal tweaks due to some missing cards and it's way more fun
Superior spider man is a great story. The concept is cheesy but it’s one of my favorite story lines. Dr. Octopus takes over Peter Parker’s body and tries to prove he’s a better spiderman.
I really feel like smashing my phone sometimes when my opponent has winning board presence and we both know his turn 6 play AND he can expect that I know his play too and see him snapping🤬. Like "Yeah I am gonna be so stupid to donate 4 cubes instead of one, because I don't feel like ranking up"
Cerebro2 is fire! I tested it 2 weeks ago after my disappointing first pool 4 card: M'Baku. This deck is crazy consistent considering how many Locations could mess you up. Got me to Lv 95, hopefully getting Infinite before the season ends. key to the deck is that you have to accept that you often concede to bad locations but if locations are good, you can very consistently snap on 3 and clap opponents on two locations.
If you have lockjaw hes a great add for cerebro 2, drop mbaku on him to pull something better AND put him back in your deck, plus the extra on reveals from lockjaw shuffling
That was great advice. Play with 1 deck and Perfect it. I love Zoo. Last season I bounced all over because I wasn't happy with other styles of play and was still trying to build cards and ultimately, last couple seasons I was well short of infinite. This season I took a zoo/disrupt deck and.... Yeah still haven't reached infinite but I'm way closer. Stick with what you like, figure out how to make it better, before hopping on to the next thing quickly. Also, M'baku has one me like 3 or 4 games by jumping out. I've yet to see him jump to a bad spot. Problem is I get him in my hand so much. Wish I could give up like a viper or debrii because I'd do Crystal. Especially to guarantee my Infinaut or Destroyer pull. But, I ultimately just traded away M'baku. I hope to see him jump to a 3 at some point but I doubt that will happen. Too good as a replacement for Wasp in Lockjaw Decks.
I dont see how they can release Zabu as is. Some ongoing cards need to be changed to "on next turn". I hope they change Zabu to either "on next turn" or "reduce by 1". Reducing by 2 is insane. Imagine playing Psylock -> zabu -> sera -> electro....
My favorite marvel comic series would be daredevil reborn followed by x-men dark phoenix / days of future past. The best non marvel comics would be watchmen, sandman, sin city and hellboy. The greatest manga is akira without a doubt. Everything’s subjective.
I run M'baku in C2, and literally 90% of the time he is in hand. He needs to be buffed to ONLY pop out at the end of the game. Otherwise there are better drops for C2 than him sadly.

I'm a bit sad that Silver Surfer doesn't combo with Galactus, but there have been a lot more hits than misses when it comes to flavorful design.

I have a really polished doomtriot deck that I love to death and I'm good with, to the point that when I do want to try tweaking something, I make a deck copy first before tweaking it (and then trash the copy after a few losses). I rose to 75 with it and hit a wall, started messing around with deathwave/deathpool, some hela, leech-leader... Fell back to the 50's. And it was a slow burn too, but eventually, I went back to my doomtriot. Back to 75 in a day.
I feel like cerebro being so touchy is good for players to learn the signs of when they should retreat.
Pro tip on deck experimentation: Multiple accounts. I started from launch on iPhone then bought a Samsung a month later and was disappointed that I couldn't continue my progress. Now I use my iPhone essentially as an iPod and just play different decks and experiment there while running my standard deck on my main account. I can also try new cards so I know if they're worth the tokens or not. It's not a perfect system, but it has its benefits.
I think a slept on card is uatu the watcher because if you get it in your opening hand being able to see locations before they reveal can essentially let you get an edge on your opponent

Alexander, it's cool that you are starting with the X-Men! It gets REALLY good when the All-New, All-Different teams shows up (Storm, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Banshee, Thunderbird, Colossus, and Sunfire) around issue #90 of Uncanny X-Men. And the art is generally fantastic. That team's early run-ins with Magneto were epic, and so was the Jean Grey's Phoenix era. Good stuff!
Btw, Kazar and Zabu make an appearance in a few of the Savage Land books from the run I mention above (#90 - #130ish).

Really excited to try out Zabu, it's such a versatile card you can throw in a lot of different decks
Out of the top of my head, you could have a deck with a spiderman absorbing man combo on turn 5, you lock down 2 locations and have tons of space for other combos
I've been playing a deck I call the lockjaw shuffle where you play crystal on lockjaw on turn 4 if you have all your high power cards in your hand. It takes alot of the RNG out of the deck and makes it more consistent
Dropping Zabu on 3 will let you be able to Spiderman plus Absorbing man on 4 to lock down 2 lanes in one turn, into something like Prof X on 5!
Thanks for bringing a healthy attitude towards this great game. I like the card highlights! I am annoyed with the snail pace progress of unlocking new and "strong" cards. I am constantly beaten by meta cards which I do not have access to. It seems like the collector caches drop mostly irrelevant items, and the bundle prices are insane. Turn 6 is basically roshambo in most games, I wish there was a more competitive way to play this game with more balance and less crazy unpredictable outcomes. Happy New Year Cozy!

Zabu vs Silver Surfer though, you get to wait up to turn 6 to draw Surfer, so you have a lot more tries. Drawing Zabu by 3 is gonna be much harder.

If i remember correctly, Zabu is Kazzar's Pet? or Companion or whatever, so the synergy with the 4 cost makes sense. I think it would be more balanced if he reduced 4 costs by 1, this would allow you to play Kazzar AND a 1 cost on turn 4, which gives you synergy on both cards

Total Agree I have played Alex's Dino Zola deck and have taken a card out and put another into to test it. The only way I change decks if the a feature on the board that is crazy and I can't use it. I have also use Cozy's Death wave and I got to figure where to put Omega Red.

I think the best think I like about Marvel Snap is how much it reminds me of playing "Overpower" back in high school. For those of you who don't know what "Overpower" is CCG that came out about 25 years ago and played similar to snap, although we had house rules so my group of friends basically made our own game using the cards. Sadly old Overpower cards did not become as valuable as Pokemon or Magic cards.
I've had matches where I get my deck replaced with 10 Random cards and I've had M'Baku jump out on the last turn of matches that I already had in the bag, like HA SAVED YOU!
Angry Joe had one insanely hype MBaku play. I still wouldnt say he is good but man can he create Moments (very rarely)
If you're enjoying X-Men as a series you could check out the newer stuff like House of M if the more modern illustrations and takes on characters is your thing.
I'd recommend a series like Kravens Last Hunt myself, always loved that series for adding so much to the dynamic of Kraven & Spidey. Either way hope you enjoy diving into the world of Comics Alex.

Shuri to Vision is one of the best turn 5s in the game. Having a 14 power you can move anywhere on turn 6 is beautiful
I think people are starting to notice Ultron! He is so good. Basically filling every empty space in other locations is so useful for the zoo decks! There is only one BIG problem. KILLMONGER

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I bought Mbaku in the token shop and he's just an awesome card for zoo decks, between Okoye and your typical ongoing boosters, I've had Mbaku save me a handful of times with a surprise 7 power!

I always looked a Vision and though well at 5 cost you only get to move him once but I hadn’t really been introduced to the idea of ramping yet, with that in mind yeah he seems like a huge play
DD: yo Alex. i can only comment on Daredevil comics. the best ones to read are the Frank Miller and Brian Michael Bendis run. story lines 'Born Again', 'The Guardian Devil', and 'Parts of A Hole'. the light-hearted run of Mark Waid is also awesome. in fact. read all of Daredevi. one of the best written characters out there. that is why he is my favorite.
I don't have Darkhawk, but I've been mixing in RockSlide more simply because I got the Christmas variant and wanted to upgrade the card some. I will say he's been clutch in messing up some Lockjaw/Jubilee decks. They hope to pull Infinaut and get a rock instead, it feels so good.
With zabu coming out I have a feeling Leader will be the second Dinner intended counter

Can you imagine how just being able to play something else between turns 4 - 6 in Kazoo decks will change those decks up? That's just the most simplest of Zabu uses. Zabu is gonna be one of those cards like Lockjaw, Patriot, Surfer, Mr Negative. Great if you get him in hand. Feel really bad if you don't. I just don't like that much rng.
Read King in Black, Immortal Hulk, Savage Avengers, Daredevil 2018, Spidergeddon, and you cant go wrong with any of the Ultimate titles like Ultimate Xmen, Marvel Zombies, Fantastic Four, Spiderman. Honestly theres so much theres no point in starting from the beginning. Since you mentioned Xmen i would recommend Astonishing Xmen
Mastering a deck is important, like with any card game. Build a Captain marvel deck and lost like 6 ranks and then climbed by 10. Frustrating but to good when it falls into place.
T6 snapping is bluff tactic. I setup a combo with an obvious finish but I don’t have the last piece. Opponents run and I win 1 cube instead of losing 1 or 2
You could Fix M'Baku, IMO, by making him a 5/5 with the same effect. The card will still be trash but it might be worth taking a chance on a free 5 power coming for your deck.
Can you guys please highlight how ludicrous the cost of these bundles are ranging from 70$ can- 150$ Canadian is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind paying 20$ or so on top of the seasons pass to unlock some cards or variants, but when you're making bundles for a couple cards cost more than full blown PS5 games its a major turn off and demotivating factor towards building my collection. On top of the scarcity or collectors tokens.
I don’t hear anyone on RUclips talking about this problem that I keep running into. I just sent this to the Marvel Snap Twitter account:
“The mmr system means that there is no reason to start playing this game if you are going to be any good at it. You are never going to be able to climb in rank, and are just going to see your level drop at the end of each season.
Now, if you are infinite, you don't have to worry about this. You can be a bad player, and still keep your rank by preventing people from moving up. And at the end of the season, you won't go down (past 100).
And to make matters worse, you combine rewards to rank. So people who became infinite when it was easier to do (less cards, less competition, etc.), but are not as good as those coming in get all the free benefits of being infinite.
This leads to them being able to get the best new cards (and the token shop has just made this worse). And this stuff really stands out while someone new to the game keeps losing to them.
I come from the board game / ccg side of things, and I was all about this game when I first found it. But I have watched as my fellow gamers (often under my recommendation) have downloaded the game just to give it up when they ran into this.
If you want the game to have legs, then you really should do something about this. What is the point of getting a game where everything is stacked against you, unless you are already in the club.”
Lol you could even play zabu and then enchantress theirs the next turn, assuming it’s not same location as yours.

I've been playing the left Lane winner, first w/o Spiderman and was having fun but had a low win rate, then I got spiderman, started winning way more, also made some personal tweaks due to some missing cards and it's way more fun

Cerebro2 is fire! I tested it 2 weeks ago after my disappointing first pool 4 card: M'Baku. This deck is crazy consistent considering how many Locations could mess you up. Got me to Lv 95, hopefully getting Infinite before the season ends.
key to the deck is that you have to accept that you often concede to bad locations but if locations are good, you can very consistently snap on 3 and clap opponents on two locations.
I got mbaku last week and I think it made me more upset than getting pixel variants
If you have lockjaw hes a great add for cerebro 2, drop mbaku on him to pull something better AND put him back in your deck, plus the extra on reveals from lockjaw shuffling

That was great advice. Play with 1 deck and Perfect it. I love Zoo. Last season I bounced all over because I wasn't happy with other styles of play and was still trying to build cards and ultimately, last couple seasons I was well short of infinite. This season I took a zoo/disrupt deck and.... Yeah still haven't reached infinite but I'm way closer. Stick with what you like, figure out how to make it better, before hopping on to the next thing quickly.
Also, M'baku has one me like 3 or 4 games by jumping out. I've yet to see him jump to a bad spot. Problem is I get him in my hand so much. Wish I could give up like a viper or debrii because I'd do Crystal. Especially to guarantee my Infinaut or Destroyer pull. But, I ultimately just traded away M'baku. I hope to see him jump to a 3 at some point but I doubt that will happen. Too good as a replacement for Wasp in Lockjaw Decks.

I dont see how they can release Zabu as is. Some ongoing cards need to be changed to "on next turn". I hope they change Zabu to either "on next turn" or "reduce by 1". Reducing by 2 is insane. Imagine playing Psylock -> zabu -> sera -> electro....

My favorite marvel comic series would be daredevil reborn followed by x-men dark phoenix / days of future past.
The best non marvel comics would be watchmen, sandman, sin city and hellboy. The greatest manga is akira without a doubt. Everything’s subjective.

I run M'baku in C2, and literally 90% of the time he is in hand. He needs to be buffed to ONLY pop out at the end of the game. Otherwise there are better drops for C2 than him sadly.

I’m seeing a lot of Kazar, Ultron, and Patriot with The Brood sometimes. A LOT
