TTTS affect 10-15% of MC twins . The donor is small with oligohydramnios while the recepient is large with polyhydramnios .Diagnostic criteria are the presence of monochorionic diamniotic pregnancy with oligohydramnios polyhydramnios sequence .Quintero staging is used for identifying the severity of TTTS . Before 26 weeks gestation , fetoscopic laser ablation is the prefered treatment . other options include amnireduction , septostomy . in certain conditions selective reduction or termination of pregnancy may be a reasonable option .

My son and DIL have TTTS. The girls shared the same placenta but we're in different sacks, as if they were and were not identical twins...the doctors said they are identical twins, but one looks like mom, the other like dad?!

Very nice video. But how can you explain the result of some studies, saying that "the VV anastomoses may play a role in the development of TTTS, in particular in the absence of AA anastomoses”?
