Being a youth baseball coach takes a special person and I applaud all coaches out there for doing your best with your players and giving them the best youth baseball experience possible.
Even though there are tons of amazing qualities that make up a youth baseball coach, I think that all of can be boiled down to 3 main big qualities.
In today’s bullpen bulletin, I’m discussing my top 3 best qualities of a youth baseball coach. If you do these three things for your players, you’ll bring the best out of your players every single day.
    3 Qualities:
    1) Focus on Player Development over Winning
    2) Don't Change your Players, Improve Them
    3) Have a Long-Term Focus for Your Players

I love point number 3. One caution is you can’t just talk the long term thought process. But you have to walk it out. Developing a second or third position(for example) at practice for each guy BUT then putting the kids in those positions in games. Back to the point of improvement over wins. I dig the videos! Thank you!

You would think most of this stuff was common sense but it is so not. I stepped up to coach my sons team as he got older because I was tired of going crazy watching the grass grow during practice with no skill being developed and kids not being active and having fun.
