Chasing narrow gauge Neral - Matheran ToyTrain by road | UNESCO Heritage India

- Finally the long pending plan to follow the Neral-Matheran NG Passenger by road on my bike fructified.
I start chasing the second morning service bound for Matheran all the way from its beginning point; Neral Junction & followed it till Dasturi Point beyond which vehicles are not permitted & where the road ends.
52103 NG Passenger starts off from Neral Jn. with High HorsePower NDM1 #405 from NRL (NERAL) NG DLS. Just before entering Jummapatti station, the train tackles double S curve. After that the train crosses the road several times. At Water Pipe station, the train crosses its downhill bound counterpart 52102 NG Passenger service headed by HHP NDM1 #407.
While returning to the base, I follow 52102 from Water Pipe till Jummapatti. While I was waiting at Jummapatti for 52102, a mixed departmental rake coming from Neral Jn. & bound for Matheran shows up behind yellow +green liveried HHP NDM1 #402. It then crosses downhill bound 52102.
All the NDM1 units seen in this video are homed at NRL (NERAL) NG DLS. NRL DLS has come up with fresh & new livery made up of red & green & has applied it on #403, #405, #407 as seen in this video.

The passengers were Surprised after seeing You at every Level Crossing on this route. They were thinking how this same man is seen at every Level Crossing filming.

One should visit Matheran in monsoon season to experience the beauty of the nature. But, unfortunately train services from Neral are suspended during monsoon.

Hi, thanks for sharing your thoughts. In India, only handful of sections will be preserved because of UNESCO recognition. However majority of the smaller gauge sections are long gone. I totally understand & share your emotions.

From where to where this train rum. Internet par correct information nahi hai.
Hi, this train runs from Neral junction till Matheran, a famous hill station near Mumbai. In monsoon, due to danger derailments & track washouts, trains from Neral are suspended & are run between Aman Lodge station till Matheran. Once rainy season is over, the services from Neral are resumed. Correct information & updates can be read on Central Railway's official website. Thanks for watching the video

Thnx so much, I'm glad you enjoyed watching this video 🙂 The first crossing between 2 Passengers happened at Water Line railway station & the second crossing between the downhill going train & departmental rake happened at Jumma Patti. None of these stations are junctions, only Neral is BG+NG junction

This is one of the most thakeli train I recall we went from engineering college excited after 45 mins we all got bored so we hoped off and trekked the whole way which was more fun !!
This is definitely not thakeli. This is a narrow gauge train & its speed is obviously slower than the bigger broad gauge trains. This route has heritage value.
@@pranavchaware I know but it requires huge maintenance the joy of toy train is missing these days. please visit Jabalpur gondhiya narrow gauge train.
@@Starrynigh88 Since Matheran narrow guage train is not for general commuting, the enthusiast public intarested in heritage, DO enjoy its ride & have fun too. For your information, Jabalpur, Gondia NG section is closed long back & exists no more.

Yes, except during monsoon season when it runs between Matheran to Aman Lodge
Is it working again from Neral?
Central Railway shuts down the services from Neral to Aman Lodge in monsoon. From Aman Lodge to Matheran, the services are are always operational. In winter & summer season, trains from & to Neral are run. It is advisable to check CR's website for current running status.

Firstly because it's a small, narrow gauge train & secondly its climbing up on curvy, mountainous terrain

@@KT43124 Nobody has problem with this UNESCO heritage Railway line. Otherwise this would've been closed. People who want to reach their destination urgently take road transport.
