Being prepared is important. But you’re looking for the TALENT whether it be Broadway, television or film. Don’t scrutinize and criticize these actors so much that you lose sight of the talent they possess and not cast them because they weren’t ‘knowledgable’ or ‘prepared’ enough for you. As a casting director, you should be able to see that talent beyond what experience they may lack. Vinnie Liff and Tara Rubin have a respect and love for actors. Vinnie was not like Benton Whitley. Vinnie always was on the actors side. Rooting for them, encouraging them and finding the diamond in the ruff.
A few questions. Would you know before hand who is going to be at your audition and what is going to far, as in total different appearance and personality, for a beginning actor?
how do you even find an audition in the first place? i live in northern california so i'm not exposed to anything like this, any advice is appreciated!

How do you see the "talent beyond" if the actor isn't prepared enough to even KNOW what it is? Your whine makes no sense.
@@maxsdad538 The only one whining is you. You’re just irritated because deep down you know I’m right.
@@maxsdad538 Being prepared is important is the first thing I said in my comment idiot. Did someone drop you on your head when you were little?
very helpful for a serious actor. thank you
but where do you get the "who' information?
Research is key ;)
great tips Benton thankyou
Thanks Benton! I do not know it all! Mark Winn

Backstage itself posts many casting calls and auditions for many different projects
Sounds like advice for Theater actors not movie actors
He is struggling to get projects himself (imdb him) , advise should be given by masters of a craft/trade , not bootleg Edward nortan .
He should be giving advice on how to get a boyfriend who can turn you into a casting director. haha.
