Seems a bit odd you'd say this is for casual gamers, when all of these are remastered retro titles that casual gamers or non gamers would have no interest in.
I see your point, but the console will have a lot of casual games like dice, cards, board games, cornhole, puzzles, etc. So those are the casual titles. I do, however, think some casual gamers will like the pick up and play nature and simplicity of the remastered retro games.
@@BrettWeissRetroGamer Uhhh... those are games that people don't need to buy a $300 console for. I can already play board games, cards, etc. wtih family. Why do I need a $300 console to do that? I played several Amico games that day, and they were all a lot of fun, if simplistic, which is the point. If I didn't like them, I certainly would have said so.
@@BrettWeissRetroGamer i don't doubt that you enjoyed the games you played, but the points hit on and the way it's worded feels like carefully crafted PR for a system that certainly doesn't deserve it after all its delays, lies, and price hikes.
I have been on board with the Amico since the beginning also the Intellivision was the second console that I ever owned. These hands on videos like yours have really got me excited for the Amico I had lost a little excitement after the last delay but it's back more than ever. Great video you described things well almost put me there 😀. I do have a question what was the one thing that exceeded your expectations and was a pleasant surprise.
I'm sure sensible people here realize this console will fail commercially.. But to the people that grew up with the original I'm sure it's going to be amazing! I look at it as if SEGA decided to remake the Dreamcast in 2061 around the same time of the PS 12. I think I would still be hyped for the Dreamcast and telling the world about it too!!
Ugh, now I wished I stayed a bit longer and tried Shark! Shark! (got to see it played though). Actually one of my favorite Intellvision games back in the day, and you are right - the sound track is fun but soothing. Had pretty much the same experience: the games looked big & colorful (Astrosmash on a large TV is amazing with those crisp graphics) & all sounded great too, no lag & the controller was comfortable and responsive with a quality feel. Can't wait for my Amico to arrive this fall!
Amico looks good. I think it would have been more professional to have followed the Museum's safety recommendations. It looks awkward. Glad to hear the controller seems to be working properly. I assume the touch sensitivity can be adjusted so that certain games don't require pushing very hard. Did you notice any difference in the push sensitivity between games? Such as, I could see skiing using the full range of it, and maybe other games not using much if any. I suppose each developer would want to adjust it depending on the game. Or maybe even provide settings for it.
The more I see of the Intellivision the more I want to see. Can't wait before the Canadian Gamestop allow pre-order for it. Nice review Brett! Thank you for sharing your time with the console.
I’m glad you had a good time at the presentation. There are mainly two things that I just can’t wrap my head around. The price, and the switch. I have three young children and I just would not be able to justify the price of the Amico when I could get a switch and have games that they already know and love. I think it would be a similar experience to when my boys played games on Apple Arcade on Apple TV. It entertained them for about an hour, but after that, they wanted the Switch back. If it were $50-$100, I might give it a chance.
Excited about the Amico. I’ll probably pick one up because I love the old Atari and Intellivision games. The updates look like a ton of fun. However, at the $250 price point, I think this is going to be a hard sell. I’m not saying it’s not worth it but when the majority of consumers see that it’s priced very close to a more current-gen console but doesn’t play any of the current favorites (and it shouldn’t), they won’t give it much consideration. I would imagine most people first encountering the Amico will view it as being akin to the newer mini-machines (Genesis, SNES, etc) filled with game collections at a sub $100 price point. I love the concept and philosophy behind the unit and games but think the price point is going to be its greatest enemy, unfortunately. Wishing Intellivision all the best, though.
All the mini consoles I’ve recently purchased have cost over $200 after I added two controllers (NeoGeo Mini, Astro City Mini, TurboGrafx Mini, etc.). So for me $250 for an Amico that includes two state of the art unique controllers and six games is a helluva good deal!
Hey thanks for posting this footage. I have less time with it and have limited video playing it. But thankfully we go some. Just very crazy with the concert and timing. Excited to be on the podcast with you Jon and Cyrus later today.
It looks like Shit and you can really see the lag in the controller compared to the action on screen. Oh and now it seems like it's comes out in February not October
The Touch Screen on the Controller is sooooo smart! So many android swipe-games that can be ported to this system. And no need to swipe anymore over the game itself. A mountain of games and opportunities here!
The problem is that they aren't making those kinds of games, and have even stated they're opposed to bringing those sorts of games over. you won't be seeing gacha or otome games on the amico. Given how retro gamer the ceo guy is, I'm guessing we likely won't see any other casual titles like match 3 or dress up games either. kinda lame.
I’m really torn on this console. Full disclosure I cancelled my preorder a while back. But Skiing and Moon Patrol do look fun and the graphics are pretty slick. I’m keeping an open mind and if the reviews are good I will consider getting one.
@@Spacemutiny. Depends on your viewpoint. I've got not interest in Ps5 or Xbox Series. My One X collects dust and I'm tired of modern gaming and I love my retro gaming. @@duskonanyavarld1786 How that measurement was obtained is very suspect. Besides, any lag, if present, only matters in the released hardware and not in pre-release versions.
I'm really excited about the Amico, plus we get 6 games right out of the box. I'm ready to help support this cause because I really believe in the product. I think once people get it in their hands it will really take off, also when they get some Kiosk out in stores it will really help.
I want to play EWJ4. But not at $300. I'll just wait until the console's failure when it inevitably gets released on every other console. I, unfortunately, see no reason for this console to exist. I want to like it. But with no physical media it's essentially just a controller. And it doesnt even look particularly good. Like the original intellivision. If we're just downloading games there's no reason I couldn't just download from steam. On vastly more powerful hardware. Where i have the option to play these cool looking multiplayer for all ages Games AND also whatever else I want. Why should I spend $300+ to play old arcade games/mobile games? On steam games can be had for under $5. Sometimes under $1. And while I dont like no physical media. At least it's tied to an account, not a console, and should I upgrade to a better computer all Games come with me. And at under $5 I consider them rentals that I can play for as long as steam exists. I will never spend more than $5 on any digital item.
Seems like it has a pick up and play fun factor that family members would love to play I think this will attract the causal player if they could add popeye I would love to play that hard to find classic remade.
@@BrettWeissRetroGamer I own a 5200 and colecovison and a reto mini console with the orginal arcade version if this was remade i am not sure who owns the rights but this game would be so fresh if it is was remastered with fresh graphics that game would make alot of money and Tommy is so awsome and you of course thank you for all you do.
Looks like a lot of fun! I’ll be completely honest... I think $200 would have been that perfect “Sure, why not” impulse-buy price for this console, but I know there’s only so much flexibility with hardware costs. Excited to see more in the coming months.
Awesome little console, if I had a young family this is what I would get. The controllers look really interesting and having the built in wireless charger is great. I also really like the emphasis on wholesome
I m going to get it because I m a fan of the classics and I would love to see retro reimagined.. I believe they will do very well if they keep bring in retro game reimaged, maybe even options to switch from retroreimaged to classic.
The console has potential, as you said we have to get used to the new controller. The most important is to have fun playing games. I haven’t heard of “Star Strike”, “Space Battle” and “Sub Hunt”’
I have a few games (about 13) that were made for the Atari 2600 that were also for the Intellivision and I really like them. Some they had that never came to the Atari though that would be cool. If this Amico gets the AD&D games for the Intellivision on it, I just might have to get the console.
Brett Weiss do you think the amico console is better than ps5 because ps5 is hard to find and the new video game consoles and games aren't better than old school games from the 80&90s.
only way i can see the amico succeeding is if they get developers to pump out hipster whale quality pick up and play games. unfortunately those kind of developers don't grow on trees
People have played the system and enjoyed it. Sorry you’re too hung up on blindly hating something without ever touching it. I got to play the system back on November and had a blast.
If this was released before pandemic it would probably have sold fine. Since it hasn't and probably will be delayed again those investors will never see that money.

Very cool, Brett! Looks like the system will do everything it promises. Looking forward to receiving mine later this year.
lmao
You should lock yourself is a Room for several days with nothing but this console to play and see how well you love it, then.
Lol
So happy this system is getting the recognition it deserves! there are far too many RUclipsrs out there that are giving it too much slack & yet they haven't even tried it! Great video!
Thanks!
You really must be simple minded to think you need to try this to see how bad it is.
@@oBCHANo 🤣🤣🤣 Well considering I don't really game, I guess I kind of am when it comes to that specific community. If you don't think it looks any good, that's great! I don't! (geeks and gamers reference).
Keep on feeling the way you feel about it, doesn't bother me one bit.
Good podcast keep up the great work
Thanks!
Skiing looks like a lot of fun. The original is pretty awesome as well so I’m psyched to try this out.
Still psyched?
Brett, you're probably one of the last who will play this thing!
Well, I was one of the first so maybe so! 😅
This is going to fail so incredibly hard
How do you ignore the major lag on that controller? That is a huge red flag for the console. Not something that you should be brushing under the rug.
Games played well. I didn't notice a lag.
@@BrettWeissRetroGamer 8 frames of lag and you didn't notice it?
@@salozmen29 Controller definitely took some getting used to, but it seemed responsive. Seems like only people who haven't played the Amico are talking about lag.
It like 133 ms so it's pretty high.
@@duskonanyavarld1786 How that measurement was obtained is very suspect. Besides, any lag, if present, only matters in the released hardware and not in pre-release versions.
So cool!!
I'm really excited about the Amico, plus we get 6 games right out of the box. I'm ready to help support this cause because I really believe in the product. I think once people get it in their hands it will really take off, also when they get some Kiosk out in stores it will really help.
I don't know if this has been addressed/asked, but are any of the original Intellivision programmers (Blue Sky Rangers) involved with the Amico?
Whoa this is the first time I heard I can preordered it at GameStop. I preordering my Galaxy Purple one I seen on another channel!
The AMICO is a scam
It sure was fun to play!
@@BrettWeissRetroGamer it sure is hundreds of dollars overpriced!! Whats a word for that??
Popeye is so great!
Very nice video 😀
Thanks!
The Ouya. Now with more Intellivision and four times the price. No thanks. I can buy an actual console for $400.
I think the people they're claiming the amico is for would rather buy a switch which is $100 cheaper.
This will flop so hard. Your cell phone can play any sort of this stuff. The price to pay for nostalgia is stupid
This aged better than you
Lol
Looks like a lot of fun! I’ll be completely honest... I think $200 would have been that perfect “Sure, why not” impulse-buy price for this console, but I know there’s only so much flexibility with hardware costs. Excited to see more in the coming months.
Nice info! cool feeds! wishing Amico all the success 🎉🎊👌
If only wishes came true, so sad for you guys
Awesome little console, if I had a young family this is what I would get. The controllers look really interesting and having the built in wireless charger is great. I also really like the emphasis on wholesome
I m going to get it because I m a fan of the classics and I would love to see retro reimagined.. I believe they will do very well if they keep bring in retro game reimaged, maybe even options to switch from retroreimaged to classic.
I so can't wait. I paid mine off in full at GameStop
oops?
Yikes
i feel like this console is for the hardcore gamers only who came before me 😵💫😰
It's the Atari thing all over again
250 British pounds, too expensive if you ask me.
I used play my Intellivision all the time when I was a kid until my mom gave it away after we got NES.
Gave it away! Ugh! 😫😝😀
Her belief was after playing Nintendo I wouldn’t Intellivision anymore.
The console has potential, as you said we have to get used to the new controller. The most important is to have fun playing games. I haven’t heard of “Star Strike”, “Space Battle” and “Sub Hunt”’
Watching playing that Amico was already fun! 🙂👍🔝
I was gonna sub....but not till selling things is at the end.... still enjoyed it
physical games ???
I've had my hands on one too. Or maybe that was just an iPhone 6.
I have a few games (about 13) that were made for the Atari 2600 that were also for the Intellivision and I really like them. Some they had that never came to the Atari though that would be cool. If this Amico gets the AD&D games for the Intellivision on it, I just might have to get the console.
Hi Brett. Thank you for addressing the lag issue. Or, rather, the lack of it. This should put that "lag mess" nonsense to bed.
Curious trust you think now…ready to call a spade a spade? I’m heartbroken too
Brett Weiss do you think the amico console is better than ps5 because ps5 is hard to find and the new video game consoles and games aren't better than old school games from the 80&90s.
I don't know if "better" is the word, but I like the simple, pick-up-and play games that are going to be on Amico.
only way i can see the amico succeeding is if they get developers to pump out hipster whale quality pick up and play games. unfortunately those kind of developers don't grow on trees
Ps5 is allot easier to find then the amico
It looks bad
lol this guy lying through his teeth
Why is it so hard to believe I enjoyed playing retro games on a fun console?
People have played the system and enjoyed it. Sorry you’re too hung up on blindly hating something without ever touching it. I got to play the system back on November and had a blast.
@@BfDelano too bad this system is a scam
@@kingnacho69 Too bad you're just a troll that wants to start problems. Ian and Pat must have sent you.
I've played the system. Clearly you haven't.
the Skiing game looks like it would be fun to watch people play on youtube.
It's a blast!
If this was released before pandemic it would probably have sold fine. Since it hasn't and probably will be delayed again those investors will never see that money.
looked like a hard game.
Looks fun
How do review something that isn’t even close to finished?
Mmmmmmkay
Great video.....mmmkay
So lucky you got to play it so jealous
I called BS on all that he is saying
lol
