The recording of these guitars is really well done! It feels like I’m in the room with them.

They're both good examples but I would take the one with sinker mahogany. I always hear something extra in sinker guitars and this one is no exception, the bass on the sinker guitar makes it sound older than it is.

@williamburroughs2273 Thanks for checking it out! I agree, Sinker adds something good, always!

Now, that's what a guitar should sound like .

On those two, I like the sinker. Seems to have a more focused and present bass.

For me, the sinker model wins here, but you can also definitely tell that it sounds newer… I think in five or 10 years that one will balance out even more, but still be better than the other. On the other hand if someone prefers a slightly more mellow tone the standard mahogany is great too!!

I own the 1939 sunburst authentic with a toreffied Adi top and beautiful sinker mahogany back. I absolutely love it, better than my martin D-42 custom and D-45. It is the guitar I play the most. Its tone is amazing and very pre-war.

Knowing that describing sound can be a tricky undertaking, my takeaway is that the standard mahogany has more base punch with good treble ringing over. The sinker had more pronounced mids and, in my non-audiophile opinion, was more evenly balanced. Overall, this is a good example of how one build element can impact a guitars tone. Would be glad to have either as a member of the herd.

That's right. Super good guitars. I did prefer the Sinker for the reasons you mention!!

I like the GE custom better is this one. Sinker does seem to enhance the trebles in my experience playing them.
