I guess you can't blame some of us to be a bit protective of our fellow countrymen. Being a minority in a foreign country it is an automatic thing for us fellow filipinos to stand up and defend each other. I guess you Americans will do the same to each other too. Respect.
I'm not saying I don't like Steve Perry. I just think he is nothing without Neal ot John when it comes to writing music. It was Steve that didn't want to be in journey anymore so if you are a true Journey fan embrace what we have right now because it is better then no Journey at all. And they are Still great when you see them Live
This kid Pineda is explosive on stage. I didn't know of Journey before. I am however fond of big bands. Pineda's name kept on popping up, much like when Neal Shorn was looking for that "right singer". I pushed that video on Arnel Pineda singing Bed of Roses, which got me into Journey youtube. And my, wasn't I blown away by that voice!! Then I started listening to Steve Perry. There are differences in voices. This young one has that husky which is "sexy" in my thinking in male voices. Perry's voice was "more feminine" but brilliant as well. If I choose between the two who goes on stage, I choose Pineda because of his stage presence, warm connection and engaging with the audience. But the two came in different times, so the world is blessed having to hear, enjoy and watch these talents. It's just music and making a living, so why not give each credits.
Exactly..youre right..so many american racist but sorry guyz Arnel is keeping the band alive..they only love perry and why you didnt ask perry to make another journey ..hahahaha..
Sounds like shes a small town girl whos living in a lonely world.I dont think racist..(I think shes clueless). Dont worry about Arnel..the people in the US will be gracious always welcoming..and supporting Arnel. This guy is our hero too!
"Arnel has what it takes to front this band: amazing stage presence, the charisma of a frontman, and vocally he was right on the money for the perfect rock show. "He's been compared to Steve Perry, but even though he may sound like him, I think that Arnel brings a freshness to Journey. Arnel can definitely stand on his own two feet. The interviewer noticed the big number of Filipinos in the Vegas concert. That proves to everybody that Filipinos support their own countrymen. Schon acknowledged it, too, and said that Filipinos support their own people. Finally, this new generation has united to make the world know that we are a force to recon with. We are everywhere in the world, I just don't if there are Filipinos in Tunisia. I did not see one when I was there in 1984. Go Filipinos.Filipinos like anything fr US of A.
Metalloid, thanks for posting this. Note to Valerie: thanks for the top-notch interview. I've been a fan of Journey since late 70's. I was curious about their new singer. Glad that you asked the right questions. Thanks for promoting Journey. By the way, I'm appalled by the negative comments against you. I don't understand them. You've always been professional.
peeps, kababayan, hope we stop this, there are already american / filipino fans and the like who are hurt by this discussion about racism and the like, we are not doing any good for the cause of ARNEL,JOURNEY if we are too impulsive in posting derogatory, unwanted subjective comments... PLEASE LET'S STOP this, support our boys, support each other, PEACE OUT.
And for that matter...who decided that Shon and Cain need permission from PErry to carry on?...Millions of fans still turn out to hear the songs without Perry. Some of the azzholes criticizing Shon on this board forget the fact..it's about the fans..and the fans like the product..and that product features Pineda
I think there is nothing wrong with Valerie's questions to Neal regarding Filipinos. If you listen to it carefully, she is actually complementing the fact that there are more new fan base on top- of what is existing right now and that is the filipino fans. Please do not be so defensive in everything you hear because you might be misinterpreting it. PEACE
who said they are replacing Steve Perry? Well, where's Steve Perry anyways? oooh yeah he left the band hanging! then so what are we talking about here? Steve Perry is gone! Live with it!
I love interviews that don't ask one question about the core reason for all of this: the music. So, Neil, on that song, what made you go to an Em7 instead of the obvious choice, Am7?
Apparently your jumping the gun and taking what I said out of context, what I MEANT was that I noticed a huge support of Filipino people for Arnel at the concert and I thought it was GREAT, it's people being ignorant and ASSUMING what's being said that turns an innocent statement and make it negative, people like YOU piss me off....Jumping on the negative bandwagon.......and the last name is Nerres, thank you.... have a nice day...
we are not just supportive of Arnel...we love "the Journey"!

and still sounding so GREAT together!
Chileans love Arnel too 😍

thats freaking right. im glad they're back and make more great songs.
3:52 just amazes me how talented every member are after knowing how impromptu they we're when they made their new album.

It’s funny how people talked crap about Arnel early on then when people seen what he can do they loved him.

good inside info. Go Journey!
Perry was nothing before Journey and he is not selling any records without Journey is he. he should be thankful the band is touring so he gets paid.

Looks like Steve Perry is back and better than ever! Before making ignorant statements, you should research the person you are talking about.
Steve Perry is not Arnel Pineda,,they are different singer who has a great voice.
CORRECT!
