Jimmy Carr is indeed a fast ball. I thought it was just in his stand ups but no. Conan couldn’t finish his thought and just blurted out “you’re not allowed to talk in your interview” haha awesome listening to these two quick witted intelligent individuals!
I am an American who loves watching British comedy shows, particularly panel shows so am stoked to see Jimmy Carr on Conan. Just in the past few months we had James Acaster on Late Night, Greg Davies/Alex Horne on Late Night, Noel Fielding on the Tonight Show and now Jimmy Carr on Conan's podcast?!?! The British weren't able to take America but they're infiltrating American comedy and I am all here for it.
@@DOSkywalkR Was he not? Maybe not all of them, but a lot of times comedians are called over after their set on late night talk shows. I know it was supposed to be a big deal when Johnny Carson would call comedians over to sit down after their set because it meant he especially liked them, and I know it often happened on Letterman as well, so I just can't remember if that was a thing on Conan's shows.

I've never clicked on a thumbnail so fast in my life. Honestly, British panel shows are where I get my TV comedy fix now that Conan isn't on every night. Cats Does Countdown was like my gateway drug into that world about 4 years ago when we were all stuck at home. This is gonna be great!
This is a full circle moment for me. I remember being a kid in America and seeing Jimmy Carr on late night with Conan for the first time. I had no idea who he was but his jokes were so unique that l remembered quite a few of them into adulthood. Eventually the internet finally got so prolific that i could type in what i remembered of the jokes and actually rediscovered the clip and finally learned his name. From that point, I discovered 8 out of 10 cats (pre-countdown era), and by extension WILTY, QI, and all sorts of other panel shows and comedians i now adore.
British comedians and Conan is a combo I didn't know I needed until today. I'd love to see James Acaster, Rhod Gilbert, Noel Fielding or Bob Mortimer on the podcast... and Richard Ayoade, preferably sitting next to Jordan Schlansky, I want to see the world end

And I was literally thinking of Sean Lock as Jimmy mentioned him. God I miss Sean Lock so much, he was easily my favorite on Cats does Countdown
Just watched this 3 times. these two. omg. so glad Conan gave Jimmy his flowers. You have to be sooo quick witted and f'n intelligent to be a great comic and these 2 are the best. they should do someething, anything together and it would be a massive hit
I love "fair play" is great because it sounds like you're saying "Yup, you added something to this conversation like a golf shot and I'm acknowledging that the comment landed on the green, we can keep talking"
I think I first heard it in that viral live RUclips video from two years ago of a planespotter (Big Jet TV) at Heathrow watching planes making difficult landings in heavy winds: 'Fair play, mate, fair play!', meaning 'well done.'
as a brit, I think of it more like "you were faced with a situation, and the strategy you chose was appropriate," hence a "fair" "play". Eg. it stopped raining; your play was to put away your umbrella. fair play
Saw Jimmy live last year after years of panel shows and online comedy bits... He was a hoot and after the show walked to his hotel among the crowd and waved at fans. Did not have a whole entourage with him like many acts do these days.
Jimmy Carr is truly a standup that uses satire and social constructs to full advantage. Those who dismiss him as a shock comic are missing the point, imo. He's such a talented host himself, the two hosts with the mosts together? Amazing to witness and I think they should join forces more often. Also I wait excitedly for Jimmy's laugh every time, it's so unique and joyous. Thanks for another gem! 💗✨
I SO hope the full video will come up here. Yes I know they are just talking, but the body language is important as well, and just seeing Sona throwing back her head and cackling is so good
This is one of the few ads that has caught my interest since the photo's on glass ad. If their mission statement holds true-no investors, no venture capital, just focusing on growth at their own pace and prioritizing happiness-I'm all in. It resonates with the advice Tony Randall gave to Conan during his first show's finale, which has stuck with me. Definitely a company I’d support with my purchases.
Oh, man. This maks me so happy that yall finally got together. Even with support of loved ones, I've reached to escape into your podcast episodes so often that it has become like a security blanket. And I keep them running in the background often, just for some lightness. So when you spoke of your father's assessment that you are making a living off of something that should be treated...all I can think is why would anyone want to lobotomize magic? You've taken the beautiful uniqueness of who you are and brought it into service to lighten the load of all who listen to you. The relief you've provided to people all over the world came exactly from that unusual spark! What if someone sedated Martin Luther King because he got too worked up about civil rights? We need less zombified people keeping step with the status quo and more people not afraid to bring forward what makes them unique. If someone, even someone who loves you doesn't get your magic, it is still truly magic. And if you do have some kind of synaptic difference, it needs to be naturally selected and propagated because we need more people like you in this world. Thank you for who you are and what you do. I hope the joy you give out comes back to you a million times over.

I enjoy British comedy. It's wacky, and absurd, but it's also extremely cerebral - Something you simply don't get from most American comedy/comedians. I'm not bashing American comedy, btw.
