Iam not sure why people dont appreciate the colour blocking, its bold and different in a good way and still keeping the silhouette of 650/550. I’m in agreement here too! Like Sean said, it’s all good for us to like different stuff - and lower hype on these made them easier to grab! I got the green as well, and I love them! If you can’t dress I understand the distaste.. These shoes are clean in every color they dropped.. it’s not a boring drop, these shoes are well put together, good material, good color blocking, and DIFFERENT
i feel like the comfort of 550s/650s are mixed due to sizing issues and the shoe being board lasted. no matter how much i tried with tts or half size, the fitment just never made sense to me. tts, the shoe just felt generally long, narrow, and has heel slippage while going half a size down it felt like i was about to lose my foot since it was too tight. i love all my nb models, but with these i have to pass
Rose Anvil’s video cutting the 550 in half was very illuminating because it demonstrated that they are built basically like a boot. That makes the issues of comfort and fit make a lot more sense.
Literally just copped the grey ones from ald London. Went with my nephew and a friend and I liked the grey, my nephew liked the blue and my mate liked the green. They are a love pair to be honest. I feel like they go with alot of my wardrobe. I really like these.
One thing I like about the new pairs of 650s are the tongue. The previous models had a short tongue that would slide down to the point it would go below the laces. Looks like they were able to fix it with these pairs.
I got a grey pair finally. It is well made with soft leather. It is comfortable and easy to style with shorts, cargo pants, and sweatpants. I give 5 stars. Thank you
Well I appreciate the mesh toebox instead of a plastic coated leather toebox like most versions to avoid the coating peeling at the creases. I’m honestly still leery of paying a premium (even though the aftermarket premium is basically nonexistent just like you predicted) for something with that much plastic coated leather. I think it might be better to go with some very similarly colored general release 2002R and 1906R colorways currently available from New Balance’s site.
I got them in this morning… fit tts for me and the shoe looks really good in hand! Sleeper… for anyone considering grabbing a pair, i don’t think you can go wrong at the prices right now … once people see them in person they will start to sell!
Picked up the Green pair, and the Navy pair as a 'back up'. I must say, the Navy is by far the better looking pair. Just has the right amount of vibrance and contrast. The green still looks great, but the color tone is a little dull in comparison, and just doesn't come off as killer in looks. Overall this is a REALLY great looking shoe, and definitely hits all the notes to be an everyday sneaker for work & play. Perfect vintage look that's going to stand out from the crowd years to come, plus the off-white sole gives it a classier look from a typical mid/hightop sneakers. My first pair of 550/650s and dare I say the most comfortable, cushioned mid-top I've ever owned (in comparison to Nike Blazers, Jordan 1s). Construction is pretty much impeccable. Did miss the mark on sizing with a size 8(too tight due to sizing down), so I'll have to scour for an 8.5 at a decent price. Wish me luck and thanks for the review.

Well I put a lowball $125 offer up for the grey pair on GOAT and it was accepted. Total expenditure of $150 with shipping and taxes so… yeah these kinda tanked baaaad.
I really love sneakers that looks like jordan highs, like adidas forum high or too tens. I also like this one but those mesh are so hard to clean because it leaves stains
Allow me to disagree. After the long way NB took the 550, we just needed something different. I was intrigued to the idea behind this colorway and I'm glad I secured a pair. It kinda goes into new territory without moving away from the ALD / Sonny aesthetic.

Strangely, I havent seen a 550 or 650 colourway I would pick up until now. I like this pack more than any other 550 or 650s I have seen so far + I dont like pleather so these would be a good pick up,

It must be nostalgia because back in the 80's I can't remember these being very popular. But they look good and I'd never thought I'd ever buy a New Balance. But they're doing very well the past few years. Most likely because Aime, Joe and Salahe. Kind of even like these.
I think the CW is decent... It's the midsole/sole being 1 color that ruins it for me. I like 550s, but not much of a fan of the 650, so passing on these.
650R are just bricks. Very few ppl want them. And this unconventional color blocking also makes it less than hype. I wish ALD would go back to their 990 releases. I need that 990v2 to re-release.

I share your pain. I can never get my 550 to fit me right. Tried as I might, but I ended up selling all my 550s in my collection.

The colorblocking was a real issue for me. I’ve gone for every prior ALD 550 and 650R but I didn’t even enter for any of this release.

Tbh I don’t like the one color outsole. I love it when the bottoms have some contrast to the midsole unless the whole shoe is one color.
