  • Description: These are 3 of my favorite go-to concepts for planning and creating stop-motion videos! Here are just a few more ways you can utilize
    each in your own studio:
    Shadows - Florals, leaves or greenery casting a shadow across your scene, water ripples or reflections, shadows from a windowpane to indicate a sunrise or sunset.
    Human Element - How can you introduce a hand into your scene while your subjects or props are moving at the same time? Pouring cereal into a bowl,
    pouring liquid into a glass, reaching for something on a plate or dish that's moving.
    Disappearing/Reappearing Objects - Objects or props moving from one location in the scene to another - blueberries moving from a bowl onto oatmeal, coffee moving from a french press to a mug, fitness accessories moving from a shelf into a gym bag.

    Hi Stephanie, I loved your video on using these three ideas for stop motion. Could you share with us your lighting setup for each? I tried to simulate the first idea and for some reason wasn't able to get a shadow with the leaf on the backdrop as you showed in the first idea. Thank you so much.

      Thanks so much for your comment! This was front diagonal lighting - coming slightly from the right hand side. I would recommend placing your light somewhere similar, and then hold the leaf in front of the light until it lands where you'd like - you may need to move the light up or down a bit to get it exactly where you want :)

      Hi there! Check out a couple of my recent stop-motion tutorials where I show my process in both Lightroom and Premiere. Also have a LR tutorial for a couple of the product photography videos but stay tuned for more!

    Thanks for those tips! Could you please tell me, what do you use to old the orange position? That white thing used in almost all product photography.

      Hi there, you're so welcome! I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly but are you referring to the white prop stands in the drink photo?

      @@stephanieshaus thanks for your reply. Sorry for the confusion, I meant that "chewing gum thing" behind the orange visible at 1:18

      @@storieinpixel Oh I got you! That's actually just some blue sticky tack from amazon. I've tried a couple white/grey ones before and I haven't found ones that stick as well as the blue haha. Adds a little extra work to editing sometimes but worth it! I'm sure there's a white one out there that works better, I just need to try a few more out ;)

    Great video btw. Quick question, What frame rate do you normally use for your stop-motion videos?

    • @stephanieshaus
      @stephanieshaus  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much! I actually don't select a particular frame rate when creating a stop motion. For all my videos I just drop the images into the timeline and then manipulate the timing of each depending on the look that I'm going for.

      The vinyl ones are club backdrops/ Ink & Elm and the bold blue one is actually a roll of craft paper from hobby lobby!
