I literally have been in craft stores all week trying to make this work trying to avoid buying $50 vinyl backdrops. This is Divine Timing God is good, thank you so much great video!!!
Ooooo the paper hanging and then the corner piece of paper ! Genius! I do like the idea of that and the final look is really nice too. Ha ha I went to Rymans and bought all the A1 card colours the have !
Awesome! Nextup, how to hold things in the air? Products, food, tubes etc :)! All those techniques are no where to be fund but im sure youve mastered them!
I'm in love with your photos. I've just shot my first food commercial and I found a huge love for food video. Thanks for explaining different backgrounds.
I use the colored paper (called “railroad board” here in the US) for onsite food photography. I buy the multi-colored pack and a pack of white. When they get dirty, I just throw them away and get a fresh one. The pack is now (inflation) $38 US for pack of 25 (sized 55.88 CM by 71.22 CM - 22” x 28” US)
Funny! I literally just spayed some backgrounds for the shoot that I mentioned on Patreon!! I used an HVLP gun to spray them, but basically the same idea. I was really impressed with the quality of the finish, compared to using a roller or spray can.
I use the paper sheets a lot! Easy to store and to transport. I use an art case to protect and transport them around. Very nice when you're starting out and need something easy to bring on location. I have a small clamp, magic arm and a stand that's used primarily to prop those sheets up😂
This is great! Can you do a video on editing and smoothing the seamless backdrop paper? I've seen it done with portrait photography and I would imagine the process is the same, but think it would be helpful to see nonetheless.
Love your video mate, real raw info as it should be. Probably my number one creator at the minute Do you make the square boxes for props or just buy them and repaint for each use?
I'd love to see a video on how you achieve your sharp shadow edges Scott. I've been trying to replicate that sunny day look here but my shadows suck. Have tried bare bulb, Spill Kill, with skrim, without skrim, close light source, far light source but still all my shadows have soft edges. I'm currently chewing through Karl Taylors paid courses but I can't find the answer there either.
Yeah you shoulda did that advance set design 1st, this was a cool vid especially when you talked about corner piece, but I would have preferred to see some more details with setups.
I know that the wooden prop blocks are pretty expensive so, if you're on a budget, have you used the foam prop blocks and if so, how would you rate them?
I have some, and tbh they only go "so far". Light/small objects mostly, and they will dent or get damaged easily if you are not careful. Also not sure about painting them. I was wondering about more affordable wood props, as the foam is limited in use and longevity.
If you want to see a more behind the scenes look at my work head over to my Instagram instagram.com/scottchoucino/
Simple procedures for professional results. No a lot of expense involved. Much appreciated.
Yeah you really don't need to spend much. Although all of those little bits do soon add up
Many thanks. Yes, would like an advanced propping vid in due course. All the Best
Coming soon!
This was so well done. I really want another video like this that goes into a lot more props and little things you use for food/products
Thank you! Will do!

Hi Really enjoy your studio set up videos. What do you use to stand your ice cream cone please.
This is great! Can you do a video on editing and smoothing the seamless backdrop paper?

Great tutorial!
It's been a year since you said you will do another video on set building... Would love to see it... Hope you make one soon!
Love your video mate, real raw info as it should be. Probably my number one creator at the minute

I buy them. I tried to make them in the past but making a nice box is actually very hard!

bare bulb and light about 8-10 meters from the subject will do it.
@@TinHouseStudioUK good man. Thanks Scott, it’s my tiny workspace that’s limiting me. I’ll do my best with what I’ve got right now.
"a good pegging" firmly locked into my vocabulary.
Never type that into google haha
is there a link for the coloured paper/sheets of the same size? could not find anywhere
Hi What do you do make sure that the 'blueness' or "yellowness" of the foreground still remains. Flash tends to wash the boards out.
Hi Scott. Love your videos, and your workshops have helped me massively! How do you remove the texture from the paper/card backdrops in post?
Bravo!!!!!
what's your camera setting?
thanks this help alot !
Where do you get the boxes?
Yeah you shoulda did that advance set design 1st, this was a cool vid especially when you talked about corner piece, but I would have preferred to see some more details with setups.
Maybe a series on still life backgrounds, bases, styling, etc. That's still life as in the Old Masters, not product photography style.
nice
More vedios like this

"give it a good pegging"
ALL THE BRITS: AYYYYYYYY!!!
haha, I assumed it was a universal thing
Somewhere out there is an American screaming at his/her phone..... "Don't put your finger on that trigger!" @2:39
Title typo?
THANKS! All fixed now.
