- Welcome to Behind The Scenes!
Our immediate reactions after U.S. Classic Podium featuring Olympic AA Champions: Simone Biles, Suni Lee and Gabby Douglas. We are answering questions and discussing everything Classic including what you didn't see on camera. We are recording about 30 min after the meet ends (view it right here, on the page, login to reveal the podcast).
Tonight, judge Nicole Langevin from Precision Choreography joined Jessica to talk all about Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas's performance and what's next for her, Suni Lee's triumphant return on floor, Shilese freakin' Jones and her massive 15.250 bar score, the unexpected falls, and more. - Спорт
I screamed after Shilese did her layout Jaeger, and her fully upgraded routine! 15.250 is huge!!
YESSSS!!
That 15+ (8.6+E) is legitimate!
Shilese is a legitimate threat for an Olympic medal on bars.
She has even more. Half out dismount and layout yaeger to pak to vl. So she can possibly be in that 7.0 range. Mind blowing
@@natashaharris4750 She can't do "layout jaeger to pak to vl" because she will do a Pak later, and the direction doesn't match (she is facing the low bar).
I think Jessica explained better than nobody. When Gabby announced her comeback and posted some training stuff, instantly people started writing their own versions of her story. That she had been secretly training for over a year to catch everyone with a huge set, that she had a full competitive AA program, that she was unfairly excluded from the Camps, that she was one of the main contenders for Paris as AA or UB specialist (???), that nobody should doubt of her and Liukin's capabilities...
The point is, was that the story that _she_ was writing for herself? Her decision of withdrawing again was another hint of what things actually are and less what we want it to be.
Well said.
Those girls REALLY delivered yesterday. As for Gabby and Konnor it was heartbreaking to watch, though this is just the beginning of the journey. Gabby will definitely come back stronger and hungrier.
Unfortunately there are soo many strong contenders that those that have not been competing in awhile will not be on the team. They won’t take that risk. I think it was more of a PR stunt with Gabby, Suni and Simone.
@KandeShack Simone? She's definitely making the team and doing this of her own free will. Not PR. I don't know where you get that. Suni is also very seriously pursuing her recovery and conditioning from her kidney issues. I don't know what's going on with Gabby right now.
@@KaiOpakaGabby’s been gone for 8 years and needs time to work out the nerves.
She can still make a case for herself at nationals if she manages to score well on Vault beam and bars
@@KaiOpaka no, not about Simone. It’s what the organization and networks were doing…they had many ads showing “the 3 former AA gold winners” so it made for great tv.
Conor was the biggest tragedy. Her beam was gorgeous. For a moment I thought it was gonna be her year. Wishing her well
Such a huge bummer especially since she just had an awesome beam and I was so excited to see her in the rest of the meet. Coming back from break was devastating 😭
My heart shatters for Gabby. It was hard to watch. She has the skills tho!! I hope she tries to keep going for next year worlds!
sooo true...be grateful for your body & dont take a thing for granted...im 5 weeks post chemo/radiation--SPENCER!! we love u and we are all here for u! 💜💜💪🏼
Praying for SPENCER!
I’m just happy to know Spencer has an incredible amount of gym content to watch in his down time
Konnor was so sad. I was holding back tears. So sad. I really hope she can come back for NCAA. The most heartwarming thing I saw was before the meet started and all the NCAA coaches had a little moment together.
I also hope Gabby will still compete at championship. 🤞
She is over. No Olympics for her
@@iliitchwieopw Olympic or not, people still watch her. People are satisfied to just watch her compete. She can compete so haters can still be pissed off ☺
@@iliitchwieopwNothing was set in stone at this small ass meet except Simone and Shilese being locks for the team barring injury
@@cocoroni1031I’d be happy to see her compete her routines and hit them in competition… that could possibly get her an invite to trials to showcase more … she still has a lot of nerves/mental toughness to work through
I think Gabby's situation was just embarrassing. During bar warm ups, she gave up during her 2nd handstand... did exactly the same thing on her actual attempt... then just walked out and gave up\scratched her entire night!!! I think her chances at the Olympics are over; she didn't stand a chance to begin with!!
nbc only showing jordans vault and floor was so annoying lol
I was so mad. I most wanted to see her bars. Had to watch off in the distance while they covered (I think) Jade's beam.
The coverage is getting worse, I keep end up feeling like there’s more commercials And it’s over too soon and I feel disappointed when it’s over like I didn’t really see anything.
I had to watch the Peacock coverage and it was beyond annoying 😂. They had 2!commercial breaks near the end of coverage and we still had Jordan’s Bars and Leanne’s floor to go, and instead more commercials and irritating commentary. OMG
Would love to see Leanne and Trinity have a great 2nd night. Shilese on bars was the highlight of day 1 for sure, has she ever looked so good? 🙌And of course Simone’s vault without a spot. She breezed thru.
Wait, US classic is a two-nighter? I thought that's just championships and trials?
there's no 2nd night at classics, that was the entire meet.
@@SonOfAGun1814 thank you! That’s what I thought too but somebody said there was a 2nd night. ❤️
Peacock was horrible. At times it felt like a few friends vlogging randomly.
Damm thats all we get this time heheh cant wait for monday i need to reconcile my feelings lol
Jordan’s beam routine is so improved I thought ! It flowed !
I REFUSE TO LIVE IN A WORLD WITHOUT KONNOR MCCLAINS TOE POINT AND WOLF JUMP 😭😭😭 WHAT DOES ELITE HAVE AGAINST HER?! 😭😭😭
My heart breaks for her. She has had the worst luck and she is SO GOOD!
@SquirtlePower809 We're gonna manifest a Konnor McClain Olympic medal, y'all. It's a truth in the universe. You can't deny the universe.
Best wolf jump in the world!
I didn't get to watch the meet in full, it was my dad's birthday so we were out at dinner and I had it on my phone on mute, but what happened with Gaby wasn't a surprise to me. Especially since it's classic where falls are normal. Plus she already was qualified for everything but floor for championship, ad she wasn't going to get an AA score high enough to qualify for AA with the falls. This is just reminding me of Laurie in 2021, she hasn't given herself enough time to get her skills back. I do hope I'm wrong, but if she doesn't make the team I do hope she continues for maybe a Worlds 2025 position.
I am so sad for Konnor! I have loved watching her since seeing the Peacock documentary. She will be back, and it isn't crazy to think that LA is still on the table for her. That is if she wants to continue with elite after LSU.
I hope Spencer is doing well!
I can't believe how many falls there were yesterday!
It's like that every US classics. People forget every year
If Konnor's achilles isn't season ending, could she theoretically still go to championships for beam??
Unfortunately no. You can’t qualify on one event
If the Achilles injury wasn’t season ending why couldn’t she petition for the all around if she was hurt mid comp?
@@jamellee6814 Achilles injuries are usually always season ending annoyingly
Konnor will be happy if she's able to get on the mat for LSU by January.
Yes!! The bars were cursed
Lol I just realized your names are switched. Cute😅
Not a member so can't hear all but no Simone talk?
Can Gabby just tell Luikin not to bump her? It seems invasive!
Well she doesn’t hit without Valeri bumping her, so...
Can someone please educate me? Is classics today?
It was yesterday
simone, shilese and jade are all locks barring injury and their upgrades for championships and trials. in order for suni to make this team she's going to have to knock it out of the park on bars and beam at championships and trials and upgrade her vault and floor, and then the last spot will most likely go to the next best all arounder since we know from the last worlds and olympics that anything can happen and a main team player can go down at the last minute. that last person could be so many different people we'll just have to wait and see how they all do at championships and trials, the real competitions start in 2 weeks i'm so excited!
Shilese DTY outscored Jades Cheng not a good look. Jade didnt even place top 3 in floor. Her upgrades will make her struggle dance even worse on floor. If Skye brings a better cheng Jade is in trouble. Jade wasnt giving ef specialist at all. Not a lock at all!
Why does Katy Perry keep getting called ‘Nicole’ the whole video?
Karma isnt a real thing, im convinced now #Konnor McClain
Unsurprised Gabi cracked under the pressure. When your 18 or whatever, you really don't understand the pressure. Older changes your entire perspective. Simone at Tokyo case in point. Wishing her best
I doubt it's an age thing, as so many people find the ability, with age and maturity, to give the appropriate finger to others' expectations who have never contributed positively to one's life. That means enhanced ability to deal with pressure. Being out of practice is a much better explanation, in my view.
@@valerielevasseur8674 She was 16 when she won in London, when you're 16, you don't understand the magnitude of adult life. I agree she could be in better practice, but the important detail is she hit her routine fantastic in podium training in two different competitions. So she was practiced enough to hit a routine no problem it seems. I think its a combination of age / mental fortitude and practice. I do wish she performed better, but it is what it is
@@darklight1030I completely agree with this assessment. There has also been so much hype (which I have participated in) around her come back; it only adds to the pressure and expectations that athletes set for themselves. She is 100% capable of hitting her routines. This isn’t like a Nastia comeback attempt where endurance and strength were the issue, Gabby is fit. There’s a mental fitness that is hard to get back after such a long hiatus though, and especially with age and maturity as you said.
@@Aronbenavi maybe we will see her in 2025. She's still got talent and could use the time to improve more. She makes DTY on vault look wayyyy to easy. So many athletes cannot do two twists
@@darklight1030 Sure. I'm just saying you're overgeneralizing from, presumably, your experience of being 16. I took on way too much of other people's stakes in my performances at that age, and by 20 or 21 was starting to learn to switch some channels off. If 16 really were the universal peak performance age, all sports would skew in that direction. Fact is, neither of us is psychic, so let's just not pretend to be. We have no idea what happened in her mind.
