Tessie, please don't block the vents in your freezer above the refrigerator.. That will eventually stop the fridge and freezer from working. You need to keep the vent free of anything so that the air can circulate. I am so happy that you have a fully functioning home now. Take your time and you will eventually finish all the projects that you set out to do.

I can't find the email but I googled and 1000s are without from a storm apparently. Also, a lot of the West coast is on fire! I have friends and family in Washington, Oregon, and California and it is defiantly wild fire season!

I'm going to be doing the same thing. Ever since I had that issue with my old apartment, I don't trust the refrigerator freezers anymore. So I'm going to be Canning up whatever I can in the freezer as well. And I will probably be only keeping very little items in the freezer. I'd rather have it canned and preserved than possibly. Thawing out and losing it all like it did at the old place when somebody turned my cooling system off on my refrigerator and freezer. And I lost everything in there.

Have you considered burying that freezer in the yard as a root cellar for your winter veggies?? Surround it with straw for insulation from the cold. Maybe in the future you could just get 1medium size chest freezer and eliminate the upright freezers......chest freezers are more cold efficient because it does not lose the cold everytime you open the door, and it keeps things cold longer in case of a power outage. Just a thought. But the drawback to them are, you have to rotate your food so things don't get lost on the bottom, but you do that anyway! 😊❤

Tessie, do you have yo worry about temperature mainly your storage room getting hot in the summer. Our storage pantry (room), is cold in the winter and hot in the summer.

Tessie, I'm puzzled with you comment that you limit your electricity (even with all the new electrical work) because the wires might overheat and burn the home. That doesn't make much sense to me. Meanwhile, it makes good sense to can instead of just freezing!

Just my ocd :) As I said on video ..I am limiting my usage to try to save on the bill .

@@HomesteadTessie I understand that. We monitor our usage every day with the fantastic electric company app. I've even gotten up in the night to put a load in the washer, etc. We have an old mobile home and only electricity--no gas line access.
