I feel what you said at the end there. Trains unlocking so late is one of the most annoying things about Cities. It's bizarre that you could have a full underground metro system before you're allowed a train station.
They should be one of the first things you unlock tbf
In places other than america, a small town is more likely to have a train station than a single bus!
In places other than america, a small town is more likely to have a train station than a single bus!
Even in America, towns without train stations often *used* to have them and they were removed when people started just driving everywhere.
Also, the above is specifically about *passenger* rail. Freight trains are ubiquitous here (I can see multiple pass by each day looking out my window, and that’s not the only freight line in town). Most industrial areas are located near active rail lines, and it’s weird that your initial industry can’t have actual rail access for such a long time.
You're the only reason why I look forward to Mondays. Blessings be upon this series, your amazing skills and you Mr. Egg!
Blessings be upon you my friend, thanks for watching ❤️
A prison complex could be built next to the first railyard. Looking forward to sort of replicate this episode into my city.
Want to know what other prison was next to a rail yard
A castle-view housing development would go well in that space you were asking about. It could look right onto the castle ruins.
For the area across the river from the residential waterfront, that feels like about the right size for the Concerts DLC festival area with a little detailing, as long as you can get access down in a way that doesn't destroy traffic.
Good idea there’s a lot of residential and commercial demand as of right now
watching you build this city is like watching someone building a puzzle and getting extreamly lucky finding the right piece and its just so freaking cool and satisfying. ❤❤❤❤
Great build today egg! Train yards are difficult to build and you did a great job! You should build a water treatment area across form fraden square.
Wow, 3 different unique ways of adding cargo train stations in one episode - thanks so much for all that inspiration 😍. My favourite one is the station in the forestry area - it fits together sooo perfectly with all the other assets around it. Not sure if there's enough space but I do think the road from the collector screams 'toll booth' too. No clue yet how to integrate that one in my build-along 🤪😆- I got the pulp mill in that spot and not much space around it.
“Oh man, I really should sleep, it’s 6am and I got work in 5 hours.”
*Overcharged Egg uploaded a new video*
And now on Orchid Bay news the Local Architect is now facing charges after being corrupt as he has spent 10billion dollars on fences instead of houses
I swear you never disappoint! Every video is a gem and I can’t wait for the devs to get all the DLC caught up for the Remastered version so I can replicate what you’ve done with this series. If I only had you’re creative vision with this game. Thank you for another great one I love it!
The way that "gap" in the furniture factory lines up with the assets and the road behind it is just **chef's kiss**
I didn't watch the episode yet but the title says SUPER and Trains and Hub and I can't be more excited. And this is vanilla. How do you expect me now to focus on the meetings that I have today before I have some time to watch the episode??
I love cargo terminal especially when connected with cargo hub. Seeing goods loaded from train to ship and then going off triggers my happiness.
Thank you so much for trying to stay vanilla, with Cities on consoles now there's a much larger audience for it than previously.
22:14 casually zooming into a little chain saw stand off in the Woodvision factory. 😂 Now I understand why the industrial zoning has high criminal activity all the time.
I love the look of the Airport Cargo Train Station, and it has another platform for more functionality.
Perfection as always! Thank you for showing me new ways to use vanilla content. For the little space to fill in, maybe something like an apartment complex community?
Hi, I just wanted to say again that I love this let's play so much. I love the way you think your layout, the attention you have for the placement of each building, the pathways, every little things... Thanks you man, have a great day
Well, it is much more than a super cargo train hub, because it is three hubs in one. So, we get three builds in one. :)
The merging of the factory and the warehouse was almost modded level of merging. :)
Great episode again, OE!
I've watched quite a few Cities skylines videos and creators, you absolutely give me the inspiration to get back into the game and build. Love your builds.
That's a fairly large river next to that blank space opposite Fraden Square, I don't know if the bridge clearances would support it, but you could justify the river is large enough to support a cargo harbor/hub, maybe a harbor too and make a full inland port project out of it including residential and some fishing.
Some of those generic warehouses could also be used as old garages in a rundown section of the "historically" district.
love the wild over-growth , random tree next to industrial
my dad and i used to work at the same factory complex , we picked some of the ripest , sweetest blackberries that separated one car park from another factory
totally off limits to the public , private land , so it was like our own little stash for fresh fruit every year - jams and crumbles !! oh baby !!
Super fun build! I've been following along with my own city and I'm amazed at great it looks. I don't think anything will top that first transit hub with the trams/train/busses. I added a road between the first cargo train stop and the industry along the river. That way we have two entrances. That helped traffic a bit. Also, I added a ped path between Fort Orchard and the cargo area. I'm having so much fun, thank you!
Really loving the cargo hub builds :)
The first cargo hub one-way line could be converted to 2-way to allow trains to come in both directions. I would still keep the one way loop through the station though.
And for the empty space by the first cargo station, my suggestion would be to turn it into a big rail sorting yard. Lots of one way tracks and a sorting hill, some generic industry, maintenance facilities, etc.
Great stuff as always :)
The Woodvision factory combining with the cargo station and warehouses to appear as one large asset looks absolutely stunning.
What a shame, I watched it and didn't comment!! I love it man. Something that I love is the way you're building the cargo network along the city so they grow organically together. Not only that, thinking since the beginning on cargo hubs taking into account the regular commercial zones it's so smart :) More trains please!!
Yes OE! I love this build! The 2nd cargo yard by the forestry industry is top notch dude. Talk about assets fitting in perfectly 👍 such a unique video building 3 different cargo hub areas. Super cool! Love it
Amazing as always! You really help with building concepts, now I know how to do railway properly 😍
I'm really loving how this city is building up! Everything looks so organic. May I request if you can post a video just doing a retroactive review of your city so far? I kinda miss the old town and wanted to see how it's going. And just enjoying the vibes. 😂
Its more like build guide Tuesday for me with timing and I can't wait each week! :D The cargo hubs all look amazing in their own way! Such careful and thoughtful placement. You teach us all so many amazing tricks, even after all these different series so thank you!
I know I late but if you unlocked the Electric Car Factory under the Monument would work in the first Industrial area. The Trains could act like there bring in supplies for the cars and transport then on rail through the Season and Region.
Plus with Office, Small Industrial building, plazas, Transportation stop and imagination you could make it look like a massive Automobile Factory Complex
That cargo rail station + furniture factory + small warehouse configuration is beautiful. 😍
Finally got caught up with the series...now i have to wait....incredible series so far...love it.
It's so beautiful, smooth and natural! Amazing build! Plus 89 for traffic! I never got that score.
Hey Egg, really enjoyed this episode, Mondays are now days to look forward to...why don't you make a small nature reserve area in that space on the other side of the river, to give a sense of separation between the industries. It doesn't have to be a park specialised area though.
Definitely agree on the layers of height bringing personality. It’s something I need to do more in my city
Loved this detailed build. Would have been nice to see an overhead view of each station and how they're connected. :)
Transport hubs in Cities Skylines are always my favourite, and all these green belts are such huge plus.
Ohh another nice build
I know when I boot up the game and sit and fiddle around building things like this, I either try and do a one way line in and out the other side of the station and then slowly bending the tracks so I can get them connected to the mainline, but it does take up a lot of space to lay down all those tracks.
Otherwise I use 2 stations, one with a one way track in and the other with a one way out, so one is for import and the other for export, something I have always found makes it a bit easier for me to control traffic in and around the hubs, be they small or large, that I build
35:09 Maybe build a park area, to go along with the castle in that area. Put in that long shopping village running along side the riverfront. and across close to the castle.
Another great episode. I'm glad I get to follow this series.
This is why I like Mondays, thanks Egg, such a great idea with the cargo train stations. Loved how its all looking
So great what you get out of vanilla! Again amazing
Wonderful compact train station! You and rail yards are really a good combination, Egg. I LOVED the grasses along the tracks, just that little detail really popped for me and made it come to life. Also the elevated tracks on the bermed land was fantastic, loved that. Great build, also loved the car jitterbugging like crazy at the begginng! 🤣🤣🤣❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Pissing myself at the man flexing outside FlexGym at the perfect time
Lol
I think opposite of Fraden Square sould be a large power complex. With the trainlines and the mountain base, it would be perfect for low traffic, detailed builds that can cross the tracks but won't block trains too often. Love the series!
We love a nice rail heavy episode. I'm a stranger to this city rn but I love how it looks already! Also awesome music choice as usual OE!
Rail is always something I pay the closest attention to. Nothing takes me out of a build like janky lines, sudden elevation changes, or sharp turns. Hopefully, once you have tile access, you can remedy that turn and really give it a good overhaul.
One of the unique factories could look good in that space you asked for ideas for
You make it seem sooo easy to do these nice builds, love it!
10 / 10 I would steal this cargo combination with the factory. Looks so neat.
Thanks as always :)
@35:20 maybe a small fishing village? I think that would work really well with the rail network you have.
Greetings Friend
very beautiful job keep going
I think near the first cargo station should be a historical village that was under the rule of the Castle near it
it will be great
keep the great work and have a nice day
fantastic build!!!!!!
"Lets harness our inner Francis and have fun with some trains" 😂😂😂 brilliant
Another Egg masterpiece. Great work!
Yes, been loving this city.
Be careful with your road placement at the end of stations. I think they were inside the waiting bay in a couple of spots. With both road and rail traffic being light, you'll get away with it for the time being.
Preston Station used to have a dedicated station building to mail. When I was a kid, we'd often sling the bikes in the goods van next to the post bags too.
The airport’s DLC has a great cargo train station, but it’s only unlocked after a lvl 3 airport. It has a second platform that allows for a bypass or a two-way, one-way setup.
Stunning as always! I think maybe a “concert park” would look really good in the peninsula. Like the outdoor concert with the castle ruins in the background. And nature reserve park connecting the the castle island. With small local produce commercial. Also may a small marina with the salmon harbour to add some water activity around the castle island. Just a thought 😂
i loaded my game as im really enjoying building along with you, your episode started off kinda funny with your car and the faulty sat nav i thought id go check if i had the same problem and yup low and behold the same car doing the same thing at the same junction lol must be a fault with that type of cars sat nav lol
Extremely useful content. So good and industry takes awhile to really get the hang of.
I think a campus would fit there were the first cargo yard. A great video!
i LOVE all these new train networks and all the apropos vanilla industry popping up to complement the trainyard.
elevated rail dominating over that roundabout seems a bit cumbersome, though. perhaps a larger lazy curve over the highway, instead?
Railway Line Service Roads.
In built up areas not so much a problem as access will be a Gate onto the Railway. In rural areas the Gate may not be directly on the Sealed Road.
Gravel Path's are good for Railway Line Service Roads. Gravel Paths won't interfere and add intersections while still adding that extra bit of detail along with Earthquake Detectors as Rail Sensors along the Rail Line.
PLease stop! I have to study and you release another chapter of my favourite series??? cmon man! hahaha i love your content!
Funny, I put a university campus build and some medium-rise condos on that side of the river across from the castle, and the cargo stations a bit further up near the forestry/farming area.
I hate having to use these cargo stations. Great inspiration for my cities, so thanks Egg!
Trains are one of my favorite things in these games/irl. I love transport fever 2, yet it's the most difficult for me in CS.
Great video as always, love how you integrated the hubs! Also, loved the Karen town haha (esp the name haha)
The underground pathway at the railroad looks scary 😅
This blew my mind….unreal City already, I’m offshore at the moment playing on a switch….not the greatest but still better than nothing and able to try and implement some of your concepts 👍
On a few days break in Aviemore with our new rescue Husky Luna, still got to find time for Egg...👍
Perhaps the aviation club beside the rail yard could be a cool idea and I think there is still enough space cool episode
An interesting idea for across fraden square is an oil refinery and pumping industry because of the natural oil resources there!
18:15 "Can't really see the Woodvision through the trees" 😂😂😂
Could you smoothen out the edge of the first bridge leaving the first cargo station heading out to the other two? Also, I feel a little bit more trees on the side of the rail embankment (by the residential) and the last cargo plateau by the water treatment plants would look good. I wouldn’t want to see/hear rail from my house across the street and see the water treatment plant from the highway. Other than that, you hit it out of the park! The rail looks like a rail network, not a bunch of buildings squished together.
That cargo area looks so good, I can't believe it was done with "vanilla" methods. Makes me want to play less and less with mods just for the sake of it. That said, the absolute must have mod I cannot play without is "Move it". Also, still amazing there is no official tool in the game like surface painter....
I only use the airport cargo train. They just seem to handle traffic more efficiently and can be placed anywhere.
And out of all the flying/moonwalking/stranded cars THAT one was not confused?!? 🤣🤣🤣
Howdie OE from Allenstown, NH. USA. It's a calm day before the storm for us lol
I like the idea that there’s so many gyms in Karen because they’re all fronts for money laundering, it might be cool to creatively include nods to organised crime in the city
I see you decorate a lot of open spaces with the tree brush. Is there a reason why you don't turn them into small parks or park areas?
Love the series!
My favorite RUclipsr is back 🔥🔥🤙
You do such a beautiful job creating a real feel and look! Since I watch your videos I get really inspired by your builds. Are there any further savegame releases of orchid bay planned for the workshop?
Thank you so much! I update the public save every 10 episodes :)
3 builds in one video 😮 how did we get so lucky! I'd like to see more of these kinds of builds
Great integration of the cargo into the existing areas. There is a movement missing for the trains. Trains from the first station are unable to go to the 2nd and 3rd ones. There’s no loop back to them.
I think a warehouse yard might look better than the small warehouse next to the forestry industry. It backs right up to the furniture factory iirc.
this amount of emminent domain (or how this is spelled :D) i love this approach :D we need a train, bye to your houses :D. Great video my dear egg
Egg how do you make it look easy easy, making a city look so darn good!
I noticed that trains leaving station 1(with the loop around track) can't go to the other stations you placed. They can just go to the external lines
Industry episodes are just the best!
24:26 Sometimes services copters get built in airports.
Best content up in dis bish ❤
There's oil in the ground on the other side of Fraden Square, so perhapse a Oil indutry area?
You should do a forestry industry across from froden square, maybe a park/industry mix even.
Thanks.
Yuo've probably already built it, bit U'd love to see a marshy nature reserve. Maybe include the aviary from the zoo, bird and bee sancturay, alongside some natural river banks and inlets. 🌳🌿🌾 Maybe in another place in the city 😅
Sounds like a nice combo!
