Hi Mike. This is fabulous. Didnt know the song and never come across Dm tuning. Never picked a song up so quickly. I'm not a natural singer but think I sounded ok. The Dm tuning made it so easy to play. In fact couldn't stop playing. So glad you shared this. And the ending sounds so good. Thank you Mike...now for George Harrison...
Thanks for that info Robert! I was under the impression that he opened the festival with that tune. I know he was asked to play a lot longer than he had planned due to the following acts having trouble getting to the venue, per an interview I watched.
Thanks Mike. Woodstock was a major event in my life. I bought the documentary for Woodstock. I remember it being shown on the hanger bay off the USS Kitty Hawk when we were on our way to Vietnam. Everyone was stomping their boots to his foot tapping.
Thanks Earl! Same for me, but in a different way. My little league team was on a charter bus to go see a NY Yankees game, driving to NYC from upstate NY. Major traffic jams, and lots of “hippies”. The next summer, I saw the movie and it rocked my musical world!
That’s great Mike! I hadn’t thought about Richie in a while! I was just a tad too young to attend Woodstock. It was held 2 1/2 weeks before I turned 16. It definitely changed a lot of things for us, and Richie set the tone.
Thanks Gene! I was 11 when it happened and got stuck in the traffic jam on my way to a Yankees game from upstate NY. The next summer, when I saw the movie/documentary, I was mesmerized by Richie’s opening of the show, as well as The Who, CSN and Ten Years After. I started taking guitar lessons very soon thereafter.

Thanks, Mike. I had to work that Woodstock weekend. My boss's son went with friends. What othe Dm tuning tunes have you taught? Cold here, -36F before windchill this morning. Stay warm and well.

Per the set list, Motherless Child, (Freedom) was his last encore song. He was already sweat soaked and headed off to stage left. It opens the movie.

Thanks for the kind feedback Paul! I appreciate it!
Guys, I hate to be that guy but Freedom is in Open D. It’s in the key of Bm but he uses DADF#AD
No worries MI! I figured using Dm tuning would make it easier. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love the pinch!
I really love alternative tunings..my favorite is dubbele drop d..but this tuning is also ❤
Cheers Mike😊
Thanks Jim! Cheers!

Know that. Thanks. I converted it to D minor for ease of play.
Love it!

That’s chilly Tex! I’ve done Eleanor Rigby, Welcome to the Machine, Ain’t No sunshine, and The Cuckoo in D minor. Stay warm, my friend!
@@campfire_guitar_lessons Thank you. I will stay warm. The dog still needs walking. I'll look those up. Thanks
