Dude, this was the most informative and to-the-point Lexus wheel bearing/hub replacement tutorial ever! Made everything super easy......until I got to getting the hub off the actual brake assy/axel connection. I could not get it off. Hammered and hammered and hammered on it, nothing. Tried a puller and ended up pulling the bearing right off the hub. Tried an air hammer to separate it from the brake assy and still nothing. 2.5 hours later and was about to give up, ended up taking the whole brake shoe assembly off and pounding it out from the backside. I was so relieved when it fell off and the new one went on pretty smooth. Thanks again!
Extremely Helpful and important to note and I didn't hear it in the video all I heard was 30mm axle socket but it is a 12 point socket not 6. I had 6 points from removing the chevy wheel bearings already that I was ready for just jump in and go but no lol and you'll need both rear tires jacked off ground enough to spin the wheels to match the holes up to get the bolts off
Thank you, Sir, for this great informative video and thank you to all the people given advice on it, I'm not a mechanic but I do most of my car maintenance and more, thank to people like Kenny and reading the comments from people which make a great plus to videos like this, thank you, great job.
Have the same exact factory wheel and lug nuts. After a new tire installation I went to go rotate the tires myself after 6k. Four of the lugs on both passenger front and rear and the wheel lock key sheared off. Even heated them up with propane and WD 40 and used a 1/2 breaker bar and air gun impact. Took me 2 hrs just on one lug. In the 20 years of doing all my own brakes, struts, ball joints, tires, etc, never in my life have I had so much difficulty removing a frozen lug nut. I think its due to the design of the Totyota lugs, and even though the tire shop torqued them at factory ft/lbs. I would strongly recommend even though against practices, putting a dab of anti seize lube on the wheel studs and lugs to prevent seizure. Just in case in an emergency you can't get the tire off to swap the spare and have a flat being left stranded.
You doing look very good to me, but you still need lock tight for it, and the axle bolt you need to know how many pound of Torque for it... yes I'm a back yard playing car , but I doing much the same as dealer do the job, 👍👍
Thanks for the upload. Getting ready to do the bearing on my 2008 400H. 30mm 1/2” socket = ✅, 17mm 1/2” deep socket = ✅, 1/2” impact gun = ✅, zip ties = ✅, 2 random bolts for popping drum/disc = ✅, 1/2” torque wrench……. WHO HAS MY DAM TORQUE WRENCH?????
@@kennynhannguyen8666 Hey Kenny, was getting ready to tear ol’ girl apart finally, and I realized I left my impact batteries at work. I also was wondering if the bearing/hub kit also requires a rubber O-ring like the Tacoma and FJ hubs? I picked up the Koyo bearing assembly, did not come with O-Ring?
hey, man! I liked your video but some tips for safety and for future ease. 1. always use a jack stand or the spare tire jack not the hydraulic jack while working as that can fail and burst and drop the car on you. At least put a failsafe like a tire rim under the car. You actually did do this, sorry. 2.I think you had the wheel on the ground but if not, it is always easier when the car is lifted but the tire is still touching, this way you can loosen lug nuts or the spindle bolt without the torsion of the axle going against you or if the wheel is not driven by an axle it will spin unless its touching the ground a bit and getting traction with the tire. I think you actually mentioned this at 8:00. 3. USE A BATTERY OPERATED 1/2” IMPACT DRIVER. you definitely will not snap as many pivoting wrenches or ‘breaker bars’. You can find this tool in home depot along with impact driver sockets and some gradations for using the 3/8 hand tool sockets.
Yeah and make sure you have a torque wrench rated for that, don't assumed that you got it right by feel. You should be able to borrow/rent the torque wrench from an auto supply store.
Doing the same thing on my gs 350. Everything is the same except the bolts that hold my hub go in from the back and rub up on the axle assembly. Making its way harder smh. Also that axle nut needs a 12 pt socket
U need a breaker bar you can't use a regular ratchet lol if you had a steel pipe can put over the end you need leverage 18 inches or 2 ft breaker bar on axle nut
So much easier and less hassle and well worth the small minimal price increase to just do the assembly until. 4 bolts off on and done. Not counting the lug nuts and 2 caliper bolts of course. Took me like 45 mins and tires up tires down. You will need to jack both rear tires up to spin the wheel to match up to the 4 bearing bolts to get them off.
when the rear end has a rumble or humming sound, its time to change the hub. If you jack up the rear end and the wheel doesnt spin freely its time to change the hub.
Hello everyone, I live in Germany and there are not many Lexus parts here, or there are only original ones and they cost a lot. Can any of you please recommend an online shop in the US where I could buy auto parts?! Thanks in advance.🙏
Get a breaker bar, they're not expensive, much easier to loosen things with due to the extra torque, and you don't risk breaking a more expensive ratchet. Also WD40 is a water displacer, not a penetrating oil. It's one of the weakest rust removers there is, get some Liquid Wrench at the very least. Project Farm has a great video analyzing different penetrating oils. Also renting a slide hammer would have gotten that hub out faster, it's the very thing it's made for.
you should never use a ratchet for heavy jobs like that, you will destroy the ratchet. Also just because its a breaker bar it doesn't mean you can use it for any bolt. For SUVs axle nut you should use 3/4 drive breaker bar and torque wrenches, you might get away with 1/2 inch drive breaker bar. But it just ridicules to use a 3/8 drive breaker bar on SUV axle nut!!!

Excellent video Kenny! You get right to the point and deal with the issue. Clear and concise.
Thank you for watching

Wow! That’s very rarely happened. I got lucky that didn’t happened to me. Thank you for watching my videos
Excellent video! Very good explanation, very clear. Thank you so much.
Thank you for watching

Get WD-40 or BD blaster for the axle nut. Good luck buddy

The proper torque for the spindle nut is 217ft/lbs
Yeah and make sure you have a torque wrench rated for that, don't assumed that you got it right by feel. You should be able to borrow/rent the torque wrench from an auto supply store.
Good job, however, torque specifications should always be given for each bolt and nut you put in. Good work though
Invest in a high torque 1/2" impact gun and you'll have no issue breaking that axle nut loose.
Yes. I had a good 1/2 torque. I gave it to my son
That’s the best investment I’ve ever made
Thanks for your help

Great video. Thanks for sharing bro.
Thanks my friend!!
Fantastic Video!!!
Thank you for watching
The bolts you used to pull the hub through the two holes what size are they please TIA
The axle nut is 32mm, the bolts 14 or 17mm
doi xe moi di anh oi , xe 13 years roi , doi lexus 2015 la ok
What size of 2 bolts did you use to remove brake disc ? Thanks
Great video 👍 this will help me do mine !
Is it necessary to change the bearing AND the Hub? Why not just the bearings?

Very good lesson...thank you!
WHAT WAS TH REASON FOR THE CHANGE? I have a tapping sound sometimes when i go over small bumps
The winding noise when driving. After I replaced the new bearings no more winding noise
Rear struts, replace and.... NOISE BE GONE!👌🏽😆 If it's tapping from the rear most likely.
when the rear end has a rumble or humming sound, its time to change the hub. If you jack up the rear end and the wheel doesnt spin freely its time to change the hub.
anh ơi khi nào cần thay wheel bearing hả anh, cảm ơn.
Same on 2007 rx400h?
Thanks a lot for sharing!!
Thank you!

The best I can tell you is go on EBay
God bless your soul

Yes. I bought a breaker bar & air compressor also impact gun after that made the job easier next jobs
Project farm said sea foam deep creep was the best penetrant to. Liquid wrench was a close and def better then wd40
Good job 👍
NICE
Obviously not a rust belt car.
Add a bead of silicone before putting new one on to prevent stuff , water ect from. getting in. Also axle nut has locking tab.
Paul, very nice to add a bead of silicone... bead of silicone to where?

All wrong buddy. Need to torch it or at least some use Liquid Wrench
