I was really impressed - they were working tirelessly to try and put out the fire... some of those pilots must log an insane amount of hours. It seemed like they would takeoff and then land 20 min later... then repeat like 20 times!
Thanks for all of the comments thus far. Let me just say I was EXTREMELY impressed with how hard the CAL Fire folks were working to put out the Park Fire. I was amazed at the aircraft they have at their disposal and how busy they were at trying to tame this blaze. It is something I will never forget. There was also a KC-10 tanker in the pattern but wasn't able to get any shots - really wish they still had the 747 to help put these out. Hoping they're able to get this fire under control ASAP!
Huge wildfires are no surprise. We allowed Arrowhead and Niagara to come in and cap off all the natural springs that fed lush green valleys that stopped fires in their tracks. The slow decline of wild life is also a tragic consequence
Cal Fire & all the agencies are do a fantastic job of keeping the Kern Valley from going up in smoke! From Kernville Airport the water dropping helicopters have kept many fires from getting out of control. I've had 2 fires less than a 2 miles away that could have been disastrous.
Well said - yes - we owe so much to CAL FIRE and everyone working so hard to keep us safe. They have done a fantastic job working around the clock to put out the fires. This is a stressful time of the year for sure...
I flew 60s for most of my military career, and conducted numerous missions with the bucket putting fires out in the restricted impact areas. It isn’t easy to carry, especially filled. If I remember it was 500 gal filled, @ approximately 7lbs/gal = 3500lbs +/-. In heat and higher altitudes, it was like controlling an elephant
Nice - that had to have been interesting! I could only imagine how difficult it would be to fly with something like that and to be so low to the ground. You have a good memory as well! Amazing what these crews have been able to accomplish!

They got many Super Scoopers that don't have to go to an Airport to reload In Canada & Europe there lots of lakes so Scoopers can refill easily in minutes but not many Air Tankers that have an hour turn around time! I thought CAL Fire had a few Super Scoopers
That's a good point! I've heard a lot of people recently asking questions about that. Why not just use lakes more? They may have some super scoopers - I don't know! In this case, they were able to get to the fire within literally minutes after takeoff. Thanks again for the comments! I've been so impressed with how hard CAL FIRE has worked to put the PARK FIRE out...

Consider a Tripod, smoother pans and as for the constant zoom in/zoom out.... not every few seconds.... OY! I need a Dramamine now...
That is some good feedback! I will try and suck less work harder. The camera I have (in my channel description) is hard to keep still. I've found using a tripod to be really difficult, especially when it is super bright outside. Do you have any other tips? For the first part of the video, I had to put the camera through a fence or you would have seen that... Also, when it was sunny at the end of the runway, it was so hard to see the aircraft b/c it was so bright. But, I'll take any other tips you got.
