Thank-you. A pity that Richie Benauld's summing up was clipped short perhaps. My apologies to David Gower: ha and his very competent side grabbed the moment. Yes the Aussies didn't shine. But what a star Alan Border was!
Border, Boon & Lawson would return triumphant in 1989.... Gooch, Robinson, Gower, Lamb, Gatting, Botham, Emburey would play some part in 1989 - and some would even play in 1993 when 20+ players would be used in both series. England wouldn't win another home series for 5 years - and would only win one 'one off' test v Sri Lanka in 1988 in that period.
I was there and 24 years later in 2009 I was there again when we regained the ashes 😃
Fantastic England batting line up in them days and there's never been another Botham
Great series. England too good. I remember reading about this series as a kid in Australia. Fantastic to watch it. Thanks for posting.

England were made to look much better than they were. Current Oz team are light years ahead of the 1985 rabble. And they are are going to crush us.
*Narrator:* England were in fact the better side in 2023, with only the rain at Old Trafford saving the Australians from a 3-2 series defeat.

And that is the wicket (insert your team name here) were after, in every single game ever.
