As a crows fan, this was a really interesting exchange on Adelaide. Think unfortunately Kane and Kingy are both right - our coaching staff and recruiting departments are both mediocre. The real blame has to lie with the board and football director.
I'm a crows fan. Crouch and Laird are slow and ain't damaging with the ball witch makes it easy to tag Dawson. Smith is cooked

not an adelaide fan but the season over this early talk is just strange, they have the potential, carlton were bottom 4 by round 13 last year and people said their season was over, similar with gws early with kingsley's joining.

Conway, like many young tall players, has had ongoing problems with his body that has interrupted his development. He has just gotten through pre season body in tact, do you really think they are going to risk Geelong's 10+ year rucking future against English (apparently no.1 ruck in the game) in an interstate game after a 5 day turn around.... He needs to rest and recover his body, plus to build a tank to get through a full game. Stanley is serviceable and you know what you are going to get.
How about Kane Cornes as the Crows coach?

agree on Laird, somewhat agree on lack of talent. Thilthorpe looked like he was gonna have a career best season before he got injured (based on pre-season form,) Rachele is talented, Soligo is talented. Pedlar was good last year, not so much this year, Nank looks like he could be good (has played well in the few games he's played I believe) and Michalanney looks like a natural. Agree everywhere else in terms of talent

Melbourne are massively overrated.
Lmao, Melbourne lost their 2 finals last year and the year before due to poor execution, particularly in front of goals NOT necessarily because the opposition exploited them. The Brisbane Semi and Collingwood and the Carlton finals particularly.

Nicks will be sacked by seasons end, he's a complete fraud. A decent coach would get them into the 8. The crows also need to remove Riccuito, Reid, Ogilvie, Kelly. The entire board needs to be replaced who have been shambolic for some time.

They have raised the expectations of their supporters too high. From the end of last season till till the start of this season, instead of saying "we're not good enough yet, we've gotta keep working at it and keep getting better," it was "We should've played finals... we were good enough to play finals... we deserved to play finals...we were robbed... we'll definitely be playing finals in 2024!?!" If that's how the team feels as well, no wonder they're "frustrated" - they're nowhere near as good as they think they are.
Not often with Kane but agree with him on a Melbourne Carlton Grand Final there more experienced campaigners at the Demons 👍

The extra preseason weeks for the younger players compounds over the years. Sydney have had a lot more preseason weeks over the last 5-6 years than Melbourne.

I think Adelaide are in a similar place Freo Dockers were last year. They are coming off a season where they over achieved and expectations are too high for this year. They seem to have most positions filled and a few recruits seasons end and next year will be ok.
Big difference. Freo in 2022 made finals and won one. Adelaide were supposed to do that this year. It makes their season so far more frustrating than Freo’s was last year. And I don’t support either side.
@@casparmcleod923 I don't go for either side either . But no difference as over achieve is over achieved. The only difference is Freo were predicted to go deeper into the finals last year and Crows to breeze into finals this year, which by the way is still possible but hard to see !

It's over for the Crows, but not word on the Roos or the Lions. Or Port who have pretended to be a football club threatening for a flag in every season of Hinkley's 12 or 13 year reign. Not even a grand final appearance. I dont know of any senior coach in the history of the game that has lasted that long at the same club without even 1 grand final appearance.

Got to play Solego full time midfield, play Laird off half back, play Rankine/Rachelle not full time in the midfield, but more so than present, and give young Billy Dowling a try, who has genuine speed in the midfield. That’s a few areas to start with.

Adelaide's off the boil, to beat them by 15 points, isn't great. Wonder if other clubs think Melbourne is that good.
Adelaide's biggest problem is pretty simple really, too many showy players who flash in & out of games, who care more about their highlight reels than just rolling the sleeves up, getting down & dirty & busting their gut to win the game. As harsh as that sounds, thats what it looks like to me every time i watch them, nothing looks any different to that for me

Say what you like about Kane, but he used to live next door to my parents and my 80 year old father used to flirt with Lucy on the daily, so he’s alright by me.
The coach is scared he'll lose his job. That's reflected in the nervy decisions Nicks made. One example only, players instructed to retain possession. God only knows why, because players were kicking short to a player under heaps of pressure with his opponent close checking and spoiling all of these. It was clear on these occasions a long kick was the percentage play to make. And despite this being evident to all of us, but not the scare de cat Nick's, he persisted. He needs to relax a lot more, and check in with the players, rather than issuing poor edicts. His self awareness is non existent

Half way through the fourth and you have a guy that can run at maybe 60% because he is knackered and can kick the ball 35-40 meters against a guy that can still run at 75-80% and kick the ball 40-50 meters. “best coach in the league by that far it’s not funny” guess dimma and clarkson maybe even longmire stopped fuckin coaching. honestly craig mcrae could potentially turn out to be a better coach than scott. scott has had a flag capable list for most of his 13 or 14 seasons and produced 2 flags… 1 of which he didn’t have to do fuck all for. he just had to be not half bad considering the fucking state of that list… dimma had one for 4-6 years and produced 3… idk enough about clarko but 4 with a 3peat with the lists he had to work with is far superior to what scott’s done. and i take back the longmire thing he should have like 5 flags with the free fucking elite talent he gets from their little academy they’ve got over there…
Longmire is definitely not better than Scott as a coach.
Geelong have made the top 4/preliminary final pretty much every year since he’s been there and won two premierships. Sydney have made the 2012, 14, 16, and 22 grand finals and got slapped in all of them (they were lucky Hawthorn were inaccurate in ‘12).
Arguments can be made that even McRae is a better coach than Longmire lmao

@@Tosicc567 no it was an elite list. highly underrated even still. he got a lot out of players like grigg and mcintosh and castagna and butler and players like that but players like vlastuin were always underrated, players like astbury, like nank. even cotch is underrated. lambert and edward’s highly underrated too.

Adelaide have a lot of players who get their ambitions mixed up with their ability and many of them are very similar and lack genuine class and skill!!!
