LOVE your sewn stockings , Jen! It gets complicated when you have so many great fabric options. Your sweater is coming along so well! Lucky knitting kids!! LOVE how Dinah assists you too!
Jen, thank you for taking us along on a designers process of thinking thru the options and trusting one’s self, of just giving it a go . The quality you bring to your process is the utter joy in exploration of opened ended possibilities Now more than ever all of us are going to profit from that approach to creating our lives while embracing the joy of just being. At age 83 I am still learning to do just that
Jen! Love your stockings SO MUCH! A thought about loving 2 fabrics….what about a fold down cuff? You would need to do something different with the loop, but I totally feel your love for both fabrics 😂 You’re making me want to drop my knits and go get my sewing machine out. Happy holidays and thanks for your month of videos. 🎁 ❤ 🎄
Fold down cuff or make reversible stockings, so that you can also use them inside out, the sling would have to go into the top seam then. With the reversible variant you could even put 4 different fabrics into one stocking. I know, this is even getting more complicated to think about. I hope you understand what I mean, it is even not easy to express that in German, let alone in English, hahaha.
I was totally going to do that!!! Then we had a family stocking meeting, and my kids voted for solid stockings with no cuff (but I still might try it) so I can use ALL the fabrics. Don't put your knitting down ... you're making such cool stuff. Loved your jammies episode! I probably need to drop the sewing and get knitting on my sweaters but I just can't stop until these stockings are done. 😂 Cuffs might be the answer!
How about a reversible table runner with the last fabric of scenery! You won’t need to cut it up so.much and don’t really need any more stockings. Loved watching you making the other stockings! You are so damn creative!
I would choose 4 different fabrics for each stocking. Then I would sew the top of an outer piece to a lining right sides together adding the loop on the top. Repeat this with the pieces that are going the other way. Then put the two right sides together and sew around the perimeter leaving a space to turn it around. Then I would topstitch the top. And you should have a reversible stocking so it doesn’t matter which fabric you choose cause you can turn it inside out however you feel! There will be no inside or outside really 😊 and to make it easier on you, leave your gap where the sewing line is straight
Oh my goodness, I found you as a recommendation and OMG…..I love your channel, vibe….EVERYTHING! I also thought of Blink 182 when you opened that!!!! Sending warm Vegas hugs! ❤
they actually show a way (that I used on a previous sweater) where you needle felt the ends togehter - strong join, less waste than tying knots and cutting!
Will your stockings have a cuff? If so, the top of your banana will also be covered. I think I would have ignored the grain and cut it so the top of the banana featured on the heel. Also, did you cut into the official Ikea fabric or did you cut into the copy?

Gosh those stockings are amazing! I wouldn’t be able to choose either. Have fun.
That rectangle of the sky blue fabric at the end would be so fun as a picture as is, stretched onto a frame.
Thanks for taking us on your stocking journey, i love your honest approach to making
Ty Jen love the stockings so much

ALL of the stockings are wonderful. I don't know how you get so much done in a day and share with us too.
Thanks - I try to make a little time to share every day (but some days, I have too much happening!) 😊
Cute, super and inspiring 🎉
That beautiful fabric could make a nice pillowcase!
it would!

Your stocking journey cracked me up. They are all going to look amazing.
ha - just keeping it real! 😂 I tend to get carried away with projects like this.

TRUE! that's a pretty great idea!
Why don’t you fold the inside over to make a cuff! That way you can see both fabrics.
Dinah is hilarious. I love the stocking rabbit hole you’ve gone down
I'm too far in and can't stop now! 😂
Oh my goodness, I found you as a recommendation and OMG…..I love your channel, vibe….EVERYTHING! I also thought of Blink 182 when you opened that!!!! Sending warm Vegas hugs! ❤
aww, thank you so much!!!! happy to take the warm hugs (freezing) and thanks for finding me!)
Could you flip the stockings inside out from year to year?
Love all the Knit Collage minis, so space and nebula. How do you join such bulky yarn?
