    Really wish that GW would add some more daemon units that weren’t just characters. They really feel shafted in that regard, especially if you play a monogod army, playing second fiddle to the monogod CSM armies.

      Because modern Chaos Demon stuff was designed more for Age of Sigmar in mind, in fact most Chaos demon players in my area are only playing it for the hell of it since they had most from AoS anyways.

    • @Swampert919
      @Swampert919 8 месяцев назад +9

      That’s kinda the curse of them being an AoS army first and foremost, they get releases from AoS’s release schedule rather than 40k’s, and even in AoS daemons get less releases compared to mortals… like even after they’ve said that every faction will get a new model with their codex there’s a real chance that it just won’t apply to daemons.

    • @jeffreymonsell659

      It'd be nice for them to add some more undivided models.
      It seems like a big miss that they don't put more love into them, as both AOS and 40k players can use then.

    Works as a great distraction carnifex if you put him in reserves alongside some deathshroud terminators. Drop him in alongside those and suddenly your enemies entire army is now shooting those two units instead of everything else.

    I actually kinda hate the Daemonic Pact rule in the sense that it's just a rule to help allies, not the daemon army itself. I dunno where would be a more appropriate place to put it though, it is in it's most appropriate place - but imo it feels like we give something up to have it, which just feels backwards.
    I think Khorne is the most improved subfaction here compared to 9th; which is good because they were absolutely pants in the previous edition. By far the worst performing. It's good to see some sort of love for them, pity it took an entire edition though. Here's hoping that any fixes to daemons does not take an entire edition from now on.
    I think the biggest problem with Daemons is that GW themselves unable to to decide what sort of bucket they want to put us in. We have at times being an ultra elite army, a horde, and everything in between. I think we make more sense as more of an elite army than anything else, given our super focus on melee. But it feels like we aren't necessarily good at it, especially since GW has finally made the characteristics of their units more granular. Daemons appear to have not gotten this treatment though. To me it's silly that a Keeper of secrets wielding a giant ass sword is S8 - the same (or roughly the same) as a Space Marine captain with a Thunderhammer or Powerfist.
    My wishlist: The Greater Daemons become more psykery with different warp shenanigans, mono-faction becomes playable, the troop squads get psyker abilities again that become more powerful the larger the squads (or in multiples of their faction god would be better) and more elite and granular usage of stat characteristics. Daemons to me really need to be re-examined in this imo in light of things like Terminator's being T5, Gravis armour T6 and Ork boys being T5 as well etc. Not to mention tanks and apcs being properly tough now means that we truly struggle against armour, with basically only Khorne Bloodthirsters or perhaps Soul Grinders being ok at it.

    • @thingmate7361
      @thingmate7361 4 месяца назад

      to be honest, Khorne feels like the only mono-god that can thrive rn if you ignore borrowing the Changeling and some Nurglings; Tzeentch has bad shooting, Slaanesh has bad melee, Nurgle can hold objectives until they get overwhelmed by bodies, but Khorne? at least in casual where the focus is on big spooky cool models, Khorne beats the brakes off people. If you can get on top of them turn 1 or 2 you're tearing them apart, especially with Rendmaster support.
      I've seen other people mention it but I reckon we'll see Demons get broken down into their Marine counterparts; one less army to balance, further removes souping from the game and makes it easier to actually make demons for different factions

      Even casual games usually play with objectives, many rules in the game are balanced around them. If you are playing with no objectives at all you're pretty far into homebrew territory so as long as you and your opponent agree, it's up to you!
      Your own deployment zone always will be in shadow, beyond that you could rule that if a certain number of dameon units are wholly within a table quarter/no man's land then it counts as being in shadow?

    Blood thirster pretty underwhelming tbh especially for his cost. He really needs lethal or sustained hits on his axe cuz with the amount of attacks he’s throwing out, if you mess up at least 2 on the hit roll and then that again on wound, he’s not killing anything and hes not that durable so he’s definitely taking harder hits when his opponent fights back. Not once has his sweep attack and dealing out mortals after fighting taken out a squad of infantry nor has his heavy attack dented a heavy unit hard enough to bracket it at least

    GW has absolutely no interest in supporting Daemons. Their rules have been phoned in and lazy for the past several years, and their updates always come in late after every other faction has been addressed first.
    I'd been playing Warhammer 40K since 6th edition and last year I finally quit after waiting 2+ years for the 9th edition Daemon codex to come out while playing against armies that already had their 9th edition codex only to have the 9th edition Daemon codex be invalidated a few months later.

    Daemons SUCKS, I don’t care what you say but daemons is imo, the worst army for anybody other than the top performing comp players.
    I’ve been running mono Tzeentch as I watch my lord of change and kiaros barely squeeze out 1d3 damage whilst my horrors get melted away in one go and my flamers and screamers do fuck all damage wise while they get targeted first out of my whole army.
    I’ve played my mono Tzeentch 15+ times and only ever pulled out a single win, I grabbed a few too by objectives barely, but those never feel great anyway.
    I’ve been in the daemons discord for a while now too, and every week or so a new comer joins asking “how good is mono (whatever god)” and have to break their heart as we tell them it’s practically unplayable to use daemons in mono god unless you want to buy 5 greater daemons and break the mono god with Belakor.
    I haven’t met a single daemons player that is truly happy with the balance of the army in 40K atm, I’ve abandoned my Tzeentch and only keep them as a passion project now.
    Daemons DESPERATELY needs strong mono god detachments or the casual player base is gonna sink, so few people get into daemons for multi god daemons, and for good reason, none of the lore or marketing would make you want to.
    That’s my take. And as far as I’m aware many others too.
