This video taught me how to rig ships - I had absolutely zero experience with this kind of thing. Follow it step by step and after a few ships you will really have the hang of it. Great tutorial!
Very much the same procedure, what’s more you could search up a sail ships illustrated (type the name of a brig you have in mind, or just the respective navy brigs) and follow some of the more notable lines and tacks
For a bit more historical accuracy, keep The knots near to the black bits on the masts (fighting tops) rather than just on top of the yards, but then you could also use white thread rather than black as only the shrouds and trimming ropes were soaked in tar
Nice video. Good to hear they set holes for the stays. As a suggestion, I recommend waxing the line with beeswax. It keeps the line tauter and not as susceptible to water and sagging
And again: Thanks for this tutorial! Just a little hint: Probably its possible, to do a tutorial like this in front of white background... It would help a lot, to see, what is going on. Here, with black "ropes" in front of a blue ground, its often hard, to realize, whats going on...
i bought 13 ships today. i hope that is not unlucky? No i don't believe in such things! It all started when i bought 4 Brigs, then i bought the Frigates ,i think the French called them corvettes like Unite? And of course the box contains another four Brigs! What have i done? Then after seeing this video i just had to have the boxed set of three third class black powder pounders! i do not know how all this will pan out, as i am quite awkward you see? Well of course you cannot. i will post the results whatever the remains of my endeavour might be. i blame it all on myself wanting to tie that very thin string. Lol i loved the video. BB
Nice Tutorial guys i hope there will be more tutorials for the Naval Systems (i play Black Seas and will be testing victory at sea) luckely for me iam pretty used to tying flys for fly fishing so this wasnt to fiddely for me, you guys ever thought about using a bobbin for the tying? and headcement for the knots?
Omg this looks so tedious, but it makes a great difference. But I see the ropes you did at the beginning ended up a bit loose. I wonder if there is a better way to go, so it would end up more tight? Like fixing the mast positions first by having the ropes pulling from both sides.
dear warlord, sorry for the off-topic question. I wanted to ask you, do you plan to continue the theme of Napoleonic? if you compare and perry your figures are more like. I want a continuation of the French, Russian, cavalry. looking forward to your reply. good luck, you are the best.
I am going to start rigging in the next couple of days. Starting with the brigs. Hopefully it will not end in a massacre. Me slaughtering my fully painted ships in full berserk mode.
What if you made a sort of cruel seas/black powder game by making the ships bigger? Sort of like the vehicles in bolt action. Players can build a map with a coast and use the black seas ships as well as black powder infantry and artillery. Just a little thing I thought up P.S- should I build a black powder or bolt action army?
An absolute nonsense. These are wargaming pieces, not scale-models. That this was the best you could do (actually making hobbyists spend an hour rigging one single sheep) is a sham.

Excellent tutorial for the 3 masted ships, now we need one for the 2 masted brigs.
Thanks Michael!

Love the "to preserve your sanity" part.. amazing video and much appreciated!
I tell you this rigging is a real Zen exercise. You gotta breathe, you gotta go slow, sooooo much patience required. ;-)
Bravo! Thank you for taking the time to create this tutorial. It will be a tremendous aid when I start this myself.
Thanks so much! I’m a visual learner and this has been very educational!
This was extremely helpful! Finally rigged my first ship
I always thought rigging would be super difficult, but this video is awesome and with enough practice it gets a bit easier
Excellent video. Very informative.
Thanks Matt!

Are you playing with your ships in the bath or something?

Oh and you should also mention to work on a white or bright surface so you can see the arfing thread.
I have a lot of trouble with lines becoming slack that were previously taut. It makes a clean looking finish nearly impossible.
Any possibility of doing a video on rigging the Merchant ships? Especially the Running rigging.

Will pass on to the Admiral!
Warlord Games thank you Sir, I’ll be back at my post (the French navy package I order from you guys just arrived)

we do indeed! keep those eyes peeled over social/newsletter :)
Warlord Games Good bless you guys .
We the best .
@@pupmima8075 Thank you!!
Great video. Would it make sense to paint over the thread were you go around the masts in the same color as the masts?
how do you get so much tension on your threads? I just can't get that
An hour to do one ship... that's daunting when considering a full British & French navy.

30:02 best part of the video

Tough choice! Both great games, but go with what you’re more interested in first, From your username id say Bolt Action mate :)
Wait.... do i tie the knots above or below the yard? It's below right? hahah
Love it!
Thanks 😊👍
😮 amazing...
What music is this
I love your games Warlord, but iam happy that i dont play this game, this is too tiny for me, but the minis are awsome ;D
A few months too late for me, great models though :)
Thank you! Thats good though, means you’ve mastered rigging! What you working on at the moment?
Nothing, I gave up on it a few months ago as the support for this very kind of thing didn’t exist at release.
