    I think the most iconic thing about the wilhelm scream is that it’s extremely unique. I’ve never heard a human being scream like that before, and I’d even say it’s nearly impossible to replicate. It’s such a specific sound.

    This is in TONS of movies once you know about it. You will hear it all the time. And there’s a hospital one too, like “Dr. Blair, call for Dr. Blair”, that you will hear in every hospital scene.

    Fun fact: The noise we associate with a frog "ribbit" is only found in 1 species, the California Bull frog. Because when they started transitioning from silent movies to sound and needed atmospheric background noise; they recorded near the studio to save money.

    This scream is so iconic, the only time I think it was ever poorly used was in the Yogi Bear movie when Yogi gets a pinecone in the eye. It really sticks out like a sore thumb when it's not used on a background character.

    My kids just noticed this same scream used in funny animal videos and stuff also popping up in Lord of the Rings and they had a proud moment saying it "Oh, _that's_ where it came from!"

    I like how movies will layer and distort the scream to get it into parts that aren't even appropriate for it.
