I know Cliff Bennet from the 60s , but never heard of this Album ! He was one of the best R&B Singer and so underrated but in the same league with Eric Burdon , Van Morrisson , Chris Farlowe ! thank you
Great vocals. Whiskey and Marlboro voice, gnarly and rough. Perfect for belting out rock and singing the blues. They didn't monkey around with the covers they chose. They nailed them with respect. Their own material was some pretty wicked stuff. I want to say they sound like Bad Co It sounds like Mick Ralphs on guitar, only Bad Co wasn't born until 1973, so I'll say they sound like Free and the Small Faces. Great band. Great LP 👌Babis
One of the best but sadly also one of the most overlooked white soul and blues singers of all time! Thank you for posting this album, I've been wanting to hear it for a long time :-)
Listening to this for the first time and I love it. I have a couple of LP's by Cliff & The Rebel Rousers and this is just as good. Thank you for uploading!!!
Me gustó este músico y disco. No lo conocía y es una lástima que no haya tenido más apoyo en una industria que puede ser muy selectiva. Buen rock and roll de Cliff

The first time I saw him was 1964, at the Clockwork Orange in Chester. He followed Bill Haley and the Comets. The last time I saw him was Windsor Race Course, where they celebrated 1966, the World Cup and artists from that era. They to had carry out Ginger Baker. I met him once in Chester and bought him a pint. We reflected on Rebellion, Shanghai and Toe Fat. Always professional. I bought the Live at the BBC, with Brian Mathew. It took Brian Epstein to recognise his talent.
Just one, but singer Cliff Bennett had lead several bands in the 60s and 70s. The backing musicians were an existing band (Spiggy Topes) before Bennett joined them for this album.
Enjoyable album ! Good musicianship singer had a good voice, only thing I think could have been better were the lyrics on some of the song's ( not counting songs that I recognized were covers lyrics were fine on those )
Another two guitar 🎸 in crossover leads then its lynard skynard style 😎 lead guitarist 🎸 a little fat although the band is excellent 👍 ronnie van zandt and paul Rodgers.
Yes he was the vocalist for Toe Fat. They put 2 albums out. Also Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake from Uriah Heep was in the band..And John Glascock..he went on to be in Jethro Tull
See also Cliff Bennett & The Rebel Rousers, active as a rock/soul/beat band for much of the 60s achieving a couple of UK top ten hits; Cliff Bennett & his Band after the split from The Rebel Rousers (and then Toe Fat). In the 70s he recorded obscure singles as Clifford and with The Hi-Shots before his final band, Shanghai featuring Mick Green and Speedy King for the bluesy rock album Fallen Heroes. Finally in the noughties and in semi retirement, two solo albums of country soul/rock covers.
Definitely sounds along the lines of Free with Paul Rogers. Too bad he never had the success that they did. Great album definitely a hidden gem. Thank you!

Very good, rhythm'n'blues seasoned with funk rock sauce! Thank you!

Spiggy Topes way back in the late 60s. I saw them many times in the North East of Scotland circuit.
Another gem I never heard of! I would have been playing this stuff with the boys back in the day...if I knew it existed! Good time music!

Achei sensacional 😊parabéns ✌️
Dude- you know where to find all the Jams- this is my favorite channel FO-SHO thank you.
Muito bom!
tres bonne pop, bien rytmé,a mon gout!!
That album cover looks like it could be for an indie band today
The first 14 notes are from abbey road 😂
Годный музон!
Legal, ótimo, demais. Lembra o Paul Rodgers
simply superb album!!!!!!!! and whatta voice!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting cover of Peter Green’s Sandy Mary
I Agree. Good cover of The Great Peter Green. The best guitar player John Mayall ever had.
Reading the comments, does anyone know his first records were with Joe Meek. I like " Hurting inside" a Brook Benton ,number.
This is actually a very good album. He sounds a little bit like Rod Stewart (without the raspy voice) when he was into rock n roll.
Sounds a bit like Steve Marriott to me. That's a good thing. IMHO
@@georgefaulk2528 Agree, take Steve Marriott over Rod Stewart every day.

The Lonely Rocker digs this kinda music! good ole vintage rock of the seventies!
Never heard of them before but I like it. Wonder how many albums they made.
You should also like Frankie Miller then :)
Just one, but singer Cliff Bennett had lead several bands in the 60s and 70s. The backing musicians were an existing band (Spiggy Topes) before Bennett joined them for this album.
Thanks Heard of Frankie Miller but give him another go

Good stuff T.I.H ;p
The music and the voice sound like Bad Company. The guitar riffs sound like the Beatles.....especially in the first song.
Not too shabby
Vocalist sounds a tad like Paul Rodgers in the early days. Thanks for uploading this-never heard it before.
New to me too got suggested by yt? I would have sworn it was Paul Rodgers singing if I did not know better
They have pumped me up with diverse 70s music suggestions all morning
Thanks brother Dream! Kinda Paul Rogers vibe to me ;-)
a bit of bob seger and frankie miller id say
This LP cost me £1 pound in the Co op, Dartford. I have now acquired a CD copy.

His voice is so familiar. Did he sing lead for any rock band?

Cliff Bennett is the most ignored professional of the 60's. Great guy !
Totally agree saw Cliff Bennett & the Rebel Rousers live back 1964 great band in Southampton Guildhall
Ни одной светлой,свежей ноты !?
Ни оригинального голоса,ни инструментала...
А мне нравится, просто, легко, изящно, обычная блюзовая основа. Не всё ж время слушать Эмерсон, Лейк и Палмер 😜
Definitely sounds along the lines of Free with Paul Rogers. Too bad he never had the success that they did. Great album definitely a hidden gem. Thank you!
