I love Silky’s saws! Another solid option is the Agawa Canyon Boreal series of folding bucksaws. I have the Boreal 21” with a Bahco medium blade, and it makes quick work of everything. I know they make a 15” that I would only consider if ultra compact was a driving factor in your decision, but I feel like the 21” is compact enough for almost anything. Their 24” version is probably what you’d want for trail maintenance work. They’re slick saws, no small parts to lose, fold up in a way that hides the blade inside the frame for transporting, replaceable blades that are available at any hardware store, and in my experience, very durable and not too heavy. Thanks for putting in work to keep the trails clear fellas! 🤘
Heyo! Just wanted you to know how incredibly helpful and inspirational your videos are. I’m a long time mountain biker that’s yearned for bikepacking for some time. Well, I finally did it! I just got back from my first ever trip, and it was this Sister-Metolius-Billy Chinook route. It was incredible. One of the best things I’ve ever done on a bike and I am completely hooked. You guys and your videos played a large part in motivating me to do it. So, know that you have played a part in introducing someone to an activity that has opened their world and improved their life for the better, and will continue to do so for a very long time. Cheers!
Hey Brad! Thank you posting this comment. That means a lot to me. I know i've seen my fair share of youtube content that really gets me motivated to go out and do something! So not only do I sincerely appreciate this comment, I can relate 100%. Where did you end up camping and what is next on the list?!? If you're up for a lot of single track, I can't recommend the High Cascades Overnighter enough. (bikepacking.com/routes/high-cascades-overnighter/) It's a bit of an ass kicker, but if you're a long time mountain biker and can pack light, you will love this route! I also love the Mount St. Helens Epic (bikepacking.com/routes/mount-st-helens-epic/).
@@pnwbikepacking Oh yes, the High Cascades Overnighter is going to have to happen very soon! Hopefully this fall before any snow settles in up high. For the Metolius ride I did Sisters to Billy Chinook and stayed at Perry South Campground. Apparently, rattle snake mating season caused a sharp spike in recent sightings in the camp sites near the water. This left #28 vacant, which looked like the site you guys stayed in right on the water. Not sure if I felt brave or stupid, but it was such a reprieve from a blistering 100°F day. Next up in October, going to Utah for a route in San Rafael Swell. Super excited for it, as it will be quite the departure from our landscape here. Thanks for the bikepacking.com links, I'm definitely going to be checking out the High Cascades and Mount St. Helens routes. So excited for a growing list of places to explore! Thanks again for all that you do to share these beautiful experiences!
Yeah, that little saw is super handy. Silky makes an even smaller one, I am tempted to get one... i'd be more inclined to bring it on trips. The problem is I keep adding more and more crap to my kit! Between the fishing gear, filming equipment, a saw, and NOW PACKRAFTS ... sheesh, I am going to have to start rocking four panniers!
Thank you for sharing all that great information, that looks like an amazing place to ride. As always, beautifully shot too. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch. Thank you!
I really enjoyed how this was a compilation of a few trips. It was a really refreshing and cool way to tell a story. Also, as others noted good job on clearing those trails!
Hey Carl! The Spur got a custom bag made from Rockgiest! I haven't taken the spur out fully loaded yet. The type of trip where I'd want to take the spur is the type of trip i'd probably want to leave all the camera gear behind! hah.
Hey Chris and Rob ,what another great adventure, you guys do an amazing job together thank you again for all the inspiration you provide for so many. The time it takes to set up the shot go back and get the camera is tedious but greatly appreciated. You guys together have some very special bond and I am envious of your friendship. Do you have an Instagram account and do you have a patreon account
The best presentation of an epic ride, EVER!👍
What a great area. That trail maintenance portion was so funny. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
Thanks Al!!!

Wow great scenery. Your local tourist office should thank you for making this kind of video :). Greets from the Netherlands
Hah, thank you for the compliment! We've got some fine country out here!
Nice to see you two clearing those remote trails. It’s tough to maintain stuff out in the middle of nowhere. Nice work!!👊🏼

Love this format! Great footage and really informative.
Thanks Jamie! Glad you enjoyed it!
Those camera on the ground, ride by shots are next level! Great video!
Wow. Thanks Josh. Such a compliment coming from you.

Thanks Andrew! This place is supreme!
That's awesome! Trail maintenance is something that we should all be doing. I hope Parker was able to get a refund on his flea market machete. LOL 😂
Nicely done compilation and thanks for tackling trail maintenance - more folks should get involved with that. Thanks for sharing, sir! 👍
Thanks Karl!

Thanks Sir Bikes Alot!
You’ve introduced me to the term knackered. Where I’m from, we’d say whooped.
I like your presentation on this video.
Thanks Joe!! Yeah approached this one a little differently!
Another great video. Thanks.
Thanks Mike!
You chopped some pretty big logs. Nice work!
Thanks! The Silky Gomboy was great!
Great video!
Thanks!
Any gps tracks of this route? Good video.
I agree with MomentOfZen. You need a folding bow saw. Much more ergonomic and efficient and only slightly heavier and bulkier.
You guys are back !!
Yeah, falling a bit behind on the videos :D
ironic I just looped green ridge trail two days ago. i had no idea it was there until recently, it's so good. Especially the north start.
Hell yeah!!! Such a great ride!
@@pnwbikepacking curios if your seatpost is slipping in the seat tube on your spur?
@@phreadi No! Is that a common issue with the Spur? I've never heard such things!
@@pnwbikepacking I’ve got 300 miles on mine and transition is going to warranty the front triangle, I guess it’s a known issue according to my shop.
Always be careful there guys.
Safety is no accident!
Expensive junk. I think that every time I head out on my bike. Another very cool video.
Haha so much expensive junk!!!! Thanks for watching!
