Let Bhutan develop at its own pace. I am frm singapore. We are rich yes but most ordinary folk are not happy. Govt brings in millions of new citizens, foreign workers to ‘fill the gap’ so to speak. Many are jobless yet the govt says locals dont want to work, are lazy. Truth is, its cheaper to employ foreigners! Once we were known as an economic miracle and one of the cleanest countries in the world. Now spore is a cesspool ! Dirty, corruption , overcrowded, unhappy people. The only ones happy are the rich. The division of rich and poor is widening at a rapid pace. I grew up as a child in the 60s and i am now a retiree. Worked hard all my life, had a relatively happy life under the old govt. ! Now its all about money. ! I think Bhutans Happines values should remain. Frm my perspective it is a peaceful life. But man always want more. Theres always tradeoffs. Depends on what you want or require.

it is a free visa and an aeroplane ticket for me to go to singapore, but for bhutan, it's dollars per day with restricted travel. Sustainable Development Fee is a scam to overshadow government incapability to improve on their own... Bhutan will lose possible tourists like me soon.

Very sorry to hear that but it’s the consequences of those ethnic group which tried to divide Bhutan at those time. Bhutan being poor, peaceful with free education and medical facility, I don’t knw why there was need to have separate special state for those ethinic group. I wish they didn’t listen to people like Tek Nath Rizal who brainwashed many southern Bhutanese n go against our peaceful monarchy. Same thing happened in Nepal before where they killed their own royal family and faced the consequences….They tried to do same in Bhutan but failed miserably.

I wish Bhutan the very best, and I hope this will work to bring tourists who will pay fair prices for guides, activities etc. It appears that money is needed to improve the lives of the people there, and preserve the natural beauty and historical buildings. People forget it is an absolute privilege to have the means to travel! It looks like an incredibly beautiful place.

Maybe Bhutan or the PM should a business model analysis. Would be quickly clear it is cheaper to buy an Aircondition, Singaporeans do not have enough money after rent, etc. to pay this amount.
Skiing would have been a selling point. But seems Bhutan has no such option and does not like to do stuff with its mountains.
