You kinda already discovered this in the previous video, I think.. but overriding does more than just letting you ride machines: it also turns machines hostile against other machines. So even overriding a watcher can be of some help (if only to get it stop alerting others).
People ask if Sylens is an ally or an enemy. Does he lie to you or tell you the truth. Sylens helps Sylens. Sometimes he’ll lie and sometimes he’ll tell you the truth. Sometimes he does things to help you, sometimes he doesn’t. He does what he cans to get what he wants. I found him annoying in the first game, but grew to love him and respect him in the second. He became sort of an ally in the game. I found out the voice actor for Sylens, Lance Reddick passed away last year. He was a well known actor in movies and other games but I didn’t know who he was until Horizon Zero Dawn. In one of his games, after his passing online players went to the area in the game where his character could be found and they just stood there and saluted. In the second game, towards the end you can find a memorial to him by one of his contact points. I tried for a long time but was obviously in the wrong spot and didn’t find it. It lights up and at night it looks even better. After the game is done you can talk to your friends at your home base and Sylens was talking to Aloy about his plans for stuff. After his last sentence I didn’t want to leave the game. It was sad. I’m not sure if Lance gets a memorial tribute in the credits in the first game too, he does in the second one I think.
Here are some tips for you: You can get infinite fast travel by purchasing the Golden Fast Travel Pack from a merchant. It requires a fox skin, which can be a little tricky to get, but it's definitely worth it. When you need to travel on foot, you can use the override ability on a strider, broadhead or charger machines and ride them to your destination. You can override other machines too, and while you can't ride them all they can help you fight enemies. There are upgrades that you have to get to override more advanced machines, in places called Cauldrons, each Cauldron has different levels of difficulty that allows you to gain the ability to override more machines. The starter Cauldron is north of Mother's Crown, and in Mother's Crown you can talk to someone who gives you the quest that highlights the location. You can make enemies take more damage by using more than one fire arrow. This will fill up the element bar on top of their head, until it reaches full which is shown by a white outline appearing around the circle. This white outline shows 2 things: 1, that you have filled the bar and now the enemy is taking the most damage that it can, 2 how long it will be taking that damage for. You can use a flurry of fire arrows to completely set the target on fire, and then change to normal arrows to hit the vulnerable parts of the machine. Rinse and repeat, even on the larger machines.
One of the reasons stuff feels so far away is, 'cause the game kinda expects you too look around and see what you can do before moving on with the story line - e.g. gathering shards and materials to spend on better weapons and armor, 'cause I think you're still using the weak green ones. Side quests and other optional missions (e.g. bandit camps to make the roads safer, tallnecks to clear map fog) are a good way to get shards and some higher level resources, etc. You may be moving too fast, and then will find yourself with underpowered weapons later on. Speaking of weapons, get a sharpshot bow (probably go straight to the purple variety of it). Its slower but the arrows do more damage, even across longer (sniper) distances.
@@trugaming The thing is with this game, which it doesn't tell you is, doing the side quests and meeting new people acutally has an outcome with the end game, so a lot of them are worth doing, even though they are monotonous
