Looking at the before and after photos, I’m beginning to wonder if the original builder made the modifications to make it sit more wings level and improve forward visibility while taxing. I’m going to be very curious if you find the intended wing incidence angle you now have makes takeoffs noticeably better. What are your hunches on that?
Oh man…on my very takeoff when I bought the plane I was surprised to find the plane not wanting to take off well passed the usual takeoff speed…it sortof balked three times and then leaped into to air. I knew at that time the tailwheel was larger than stock because the builder told me he “upgraded” the wheel. Nothing said about the control. I quickly found out raising the tail without doing anything to the mains was a terrible idea and since I wanted bigger mains for grass anyway…I put larger mains on it and it took off very smoothly at a lower speed. I think this is only going to help even more. You can’t take off if your wings are pointing the wrong way! :)
