When you leave your butter out at room temperature it spreads beautifully!! Butter does not go bad!!

Yes, that certainly is true. But in the summer it tends to melt. My ultimate goal was definitely to do butter spread.

I dont make my own butter but I do make my own ghee. If you were looking to see if making "Ghee" from scratch I do believe that would make it cost effective. Plus shelf stable.
Thank you for the demo. I did learn some stuff I didn't know

Thanks for watching! I have never made ghee, and perhaps I should try that at some point!

I will not live without ghee! Besides being shelf stable it is also so rich a little goes a long way!! I do mine in the oven at 250 for and 1 1/2 hours in my 8 quart glass mixing bowl so it is so easy to just pour up your ghee and the milk solids I use to make biscuits or cakes!! I also use ghee on my Blackstone grill because it does not burn!!

An interesting experiment and thanks for the demonstration. Do the experiment and then calculating the math would be a very good experiment for kids.

Had not thought about them doing the math also! Great idea.

I just did the math this last week for buying butter vs. buying cream and making it.
A pound of butter is $2 cheaper than a quart of cream.
I use the cream for my coffee so I usually have some to make a small batch of sour cream with.
I'm glad to see this. I eat butter but hubby likes the margarine stuff. I'm wondering if I make the spread and put it in his container if he will use it or if he will insist on buying the expensive brand he likes.

Prices will definitely vary from store to store and even overtime… I just did a snapshot based on pricing when I made this
