    • How to make a Video Ga...
Honestly it's not like me to be a happy person (not my nature) but i've been downright giddy while trying to develop my crappy little game Slimes Can't Jump in Godot. It's a good time that I cannot recommend enough to anyone, or at least people who love a good puzzle. Developing, even simple games, is like assembling an open ended puzzle where the results are in your head but you may have to build the pieces yourself.
I don't know, I just love it a lot. Please give Godot a try, it may just be what you need.

    3 things...
thing 1- the way you explained referencing other scenes, made it sink in for me, so thank you for that!
thing 2- even if my art is bad, i still like using my own art compared to using other peoples art, only because for some reason it just never feels like the game i made is not "all" my game anymore with someone elses art. idk, that might just be me.
and thing 3- chat gpt is the best to use for learning imo.i recently started using it to help if needed, and boy does it ever! wayt more then a youtube tutorial. the tutorials people make ( i feel) are purposely teaching in a way that wont help but will sound like it should help, just so their "tutorial channel" can keep being able to make more "tutorials". i mean, why else is there a NEED for 100 different platformer beginner guides if 1 would help?
anyways- loved the video! subbed! ill definitely be back for more! keep it up!
edit- oh and when you ask chatGPT for something, you can specify to have it for Godot 4.2 or whatever. example- "tell me step by step how to add coyote time to a Characterbody2D in godot 4.2"

This is such a cool concept for a game and your video is great.
Ive been toying on and off with game dev and 3d modelling for a little while now. tried unity, dropped off when they had their whole kerfuffle then tried godot which felt a lot more approachable, fell off that after a month or so when i got sick for basically all of april and have just returned to it only to also see the brackeys tutorial which has helped ease me back into it. Really cool to see how many people are using that tutorial as a springboard to play around with godot.
subscribed and definitely looking forward to seeing more on your projects!

Godot is a great indie game tool, I've had friends suggest it but I'd rather hit my head against a wall learning UE5.
-edit You making this video is giving me more reason to not give up this time. Thank you.

yoo! another game to put on my list of playing when it releases! ive been using godot for a while and i HAVE to recommend Heartbeast for tutorials, he shows you how to do stuff and then why he actually does it, as well as go over alternate options to what he did sometimes!!

Just started learning Godot myself with 0 experience or background in any form of computer science or programming. Brackeys tutorial made me really believe I could make something.
My biggest struggle is definitely going to be the coding side of things. While there is so many tutorials on pretty much every side of coding it's still tough to learn.
I find most tutorials say ''learn this thing in 10 minutes!!!'' You follow the tutorial step by step and achieve what the tutorial wanted to to achieve and it then proclaims ''Know you know everything there is to know about this thing.'' Here's me going eeeeer no I don't lol. I followed everything but this doesn't mean I know it's broader application or how to use it specifically in my project.
I guess it's just a repetition thing and things will eventually stick as you use them more.
My goal is at least 2 hours a day of learning.
    Good luck out there everyone

The biggest thing i've learned so far is there's not really a "right" way to do things, at least not initially. There are more/less efficient ways, but for smaller projects efficiency isn't super important. There's just your way. Most tutorials I've seen explain what they did, but not why they did or how it works. Hopefully, I can properly articulate anything I discover!
