    TLDR: Thanks for turning this girl from a mail-lady into a workhorse of profit
    thank you for making this series, in Elite Dangerous I was always just a space trucker/passenger liner, but since there is no profitable way to do either in SC right now (3.16) and since I'm fairly new to SC as a player, this tutorial took me from confused and scared to JUST scared (of players). made some good haul and your cheat sheets even helped me calculate the best time to stop and sell by letting me get an exact calculation of my hauls profit margins.

    I bought 2 Pembroke Undersuits, and BOTH of them tried to kill me. I suffered massive heatstroke, and had to post 2 beacons for medical emergencies. In one instance I had the full kit Pembroke Helmet & Undersuit, and in another I looted the RSI Pembroke Helmet and standard Pembroke Undersuit. Although in 3.19 the bug was fixed, and now I use the Pembroke and helmet as demonstrated. As an alternative, you can use a high temp helmet and standard undersuit and eat alien plants to bring down my heat and relieve my physical exhaustion, along with some water. The break does me good, and I get to empty my ROC of lesser gems and leave the Hadonite for the cash-out. Although I do miss the larger backpack, that would be epic for those times when I want to 2X or 3X load the ROC and transfer to my ship. Additionally, with the use of the Pembroke and Backpack, you can switch your multi-tool to collect (B) gems (with the Ore-bit module) and they will collect in your Pembroke Backpack.

    Thanks for being here! Right now there are a few bugs affecting ROC mining and I hope to have some quick fix videos posted for them before December 2021. Please check that playlist out in case I've covered it already.
    Gemstones are not stacking in your inventory, extracting anything more than one rock causes a whirlwind of gems while they wait to be collected, and you are unable to sell from a ROC vehicle while it's parked inside another ship.

    Since you asked how our first ROC mining sessions went... well mine was not so good. I've done hand mining quite a bit and enjoy it. I've done quite a bit of mining in a rental Prospector too. But mining in the ROC-DS was just miserable and not because I had to climb out of the driving seat to get to the mining operator seat. The problem I had was that the mining laser was aimed about 15 degrees down from the mouse cursor. This meant that if the laser was on the rock then the scanner was pointed off the rock so I didn't know how much energy I was putting into the rock. And if the scanner was on the rock then the laser was in the dirt and not putting anything into the rock. Out of the three rock cluster I managed to blow one of them after about 45 minutes to an hour. Considering how it was going so far and knowing that there was a far bit of risk of blowing up the other rocks and scattering the gems every which way. So I flipped the mining arm to extraction mode which resulted in a gem cyclone. I saw somewhere that when you get a gems cyclone if you just leave the extraction laser on it will eventually collect all the gems flying around. So I left it on for 10+(?) minutes, aimed it all around and it would grab a gem maybe every 30-60 seconds. When I turned off the extraction laser the last 15-20 gems went flying everywhere. I turned the extraction laser back on and collected 4-5 of the gems that ended up close by. Then I asked in the global chat if there was a way to fix it and the tldr version was that is the way it is and it is buggy sometimes. I replied that I enjoyed mining with a prospector but that ROC mining was misery and I would never mine with a ROC again (I was being a bit hyperbolic). I then drove back the loaner Freelancer Max I transported the ROC-DS there with. Got out of the ROC-DS, walked up the cargo ramp, closed the cargo door, took off then targeted the ROC-DS and blew it up. I'm not even going to bother to claim it until I am able to sell it. Or if someone else wants to try it I will claim it for them and let them have it. I then went and got my Titan from ARC-L1 and flew back to Hurston, got interdicted by three 9 tails ships; a Valkyrie, Buccineer and M50, and blew them up contributing to the safety of the system and the mission A Call to Arms.

    • @RedMonsterSC
      @RedMonsterSC  2 года назад +1

      The ROC cargo can fill up in about one hour of good mining. My recommendation is to go and sell when the ROC vehicle storage starts getting close to full instead of messing with the inventory management. If you want to risk it for a longer duration trip, then you can transfer the gems into the ship inventory, and there will be plenty of available space there.

      @@RedMonsterSC Thanks. I have the ROC-DS so double the ROC storage apparently. Now to find the Hadanite. My recommendation is to stick with the single seat ROC. The DS needs to be hauled around by a larger vehicle than the standard ROC and requires you to move between the driving and mining seats. The extra capacity isn't much of a factor right now, since you can just transfer the gemstones directly into your transport vehicle after each cluster, so you're never at risk of filling up.

    Is there a fix coming for when the ROC Proper overheats? And does the ROC DS have the same overheating problem? If it does not I may use that. When it overheats, I cannot finish mining and it is a struggle to get the ROC back into the ship. I have lost lots of Spacebucks due to this problem.

      I've tried a Tepillo(A Rated Civ cooler) and two Defiants(B rated indy powerplants) and you're still 116 power short to keep the ROC/ROC DS going. After some time the Roc's power plant will shut down(about half a load I've found) and the cooler and powerplants are cooked. I just had that happen and spent around 20 minutes offloading the ROC into my armor. I've noticed it's around 3/4th full when the Roc craps out.

    Could I unload the ROC and fill my ships cargo bay up, to sell everything straight from my ship?

    • @RedMonsterSC
      @RedMonsterSC  3 года назад +2

      While possible it would take quite a while (multiple days?). You'd be running the risk of losing it all due to a ship crash so its probably a good idea to sell at least at the end of the session.

    All of the minerals in my ROC are represented by a single until of that material. Is there a way to bundle them into stacks at this time?

    • @RedMonsterSC
      @RedMonsterSC  3 года назад +1

      The stacked gemstones is a known bug in the latest build. That will make things harder to transfer between inventory groups, but the gems are still being collected and stored.

      You can make around 100k per hour or maybe a little more. I did 3 hours of ROC mining during my most recent stream and collected 220k uec worth of gemstones. I could have probably made more but I was splitting that with another ROC Operator and chatting with stream a lot.
