Apparently Volvo, Ford, GM & VW are now saying they will NOT be going all electric by 2030 but will focus on hybrids (plug in?). I think it’s down to lack of customer demand plus inadequate charging infrastructure. Teapot ones round the UK trip on an electric bike shows the impracticality of long journeys…..good for town only use when charging at home.
I ride an ICE bike and drive an electric car. Apart from the silly price of the electric car (I lease it) and concerns that the battery life might only be about 8 years (that’s another reason I lease it) I LOVE driving the electric car. I do not miss anything about an ICE car. So. No problems with that. Range is fine (although it drops a lot with colder temps) and charge time hasn’t bothered me. Charging at home is very very cheap and convenient. However, I would not buy this bike. I can see the idea - range is the biggest problem on e-bikes, so this sorts it out. But. I can easily get 65mpg on my 1200 cc ICE bike. Many bikes that are more powerful than this hybrid can push 75mpg. So this, which MCN reckoned might get 80+ is a colossal white elephant. It is still polluting for no real advantage on economy, it is heavy, it is underpowered and it will be very expensive. Pulling these down the supply chain will not save the planet and will be even more dull than a vegetarian bbq. I’ll buy a second-hand ICE bike and donate some money to a conservation charity and I will have done more for the planet and I’ll have much more fun.
I’m one of those who is extremely sceptical about electric motorcycles but who has never ridden one. For me an important part of motorcycling is the sound of the engine, the vibration and yes I like changing gear (neither am I interested in automatic motorcycles, although I do drive an automatic car). I think this Kawasaki Hybrid is a really interesting bike and worthy of this channel, maybe it is the future of motorcycling because I can’t see fully electric middle to large motorcycles ever taking off 🇬🇧
A classic answer to a question no one asked. More expensive, dynamically inferior (due to weight), a basic ice motorcycle is a much better bet. Any cost saving in fuel would never be recovered by the difference in price.

Had a BMW C evolution scooter , totally electric . Range was 70-80 miles , 35 if you caned it . I had it for 5 years , but resale was hard , and you could not extend the warranty past the 3 years. Went back to a T Max but loved its rapid acceleration and cheap running costs . They make a cool noise as well bit like something from Halo
A good review very good in terms of concept and technology but would it give what I enjoy from motorcycling the answer is no. But I am glad you keep an open mind on bikes you review it is what the channel is all about. Well done.👍
I prefer air-cooled bikes with minimal electronics as there is less to go wrong. The Ninja HEV seems to be my nemesis bike. An enjoyable video though 👍👍.
Hi chaps! This put me in mind of when I rode the GPZ750Turbo. I think I prefer that so you didn’t have to think about pressing the ‘boost’ button, which I think I always would when overtaking! I’ve had an electric car for 4 years now and love it. It suits my use perfectly but I appreciate they are not practical for everyone. But when it comes to motorcycles it just doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve a Guzzi and. BM at the moment and love the sound, movement and rattle of those bikes. I can’t see electric motorcycles catching on. The sound is so important but the range of the 2 wheels is appalling. Just not for me.
"Jeff, I can't get the bloody thing to move". That's the worrying part for me. If it's complicated, then it's bound to be unreliable. A dead, heavy battery after just 8 miles? Hmmmm.
Sorry should have explained better it had buttons on the left handle bar (no clutch) These can be used to change gear or just let it change gear itself just like something like a BMW car.
It was obvious in the first week of the trial that the verdict was going to be not guilty. He may well have killed her, maybe even on the balance of probabilities but not to the beyond reasonable doubt level
Hybrids are not the future for passenger cars or motorcycles. Vehicles which include electric motors only to offer a sort of turbo boost are just another decadent fashion accessory and go totally against the green revolution we need. This bike is a perfect example. Extra complicated, extra heavy, extra expensive. In the mean time all this extra stuff doesn’t do anything for the range which is the only valid reason to use such technology in stead of pure electric. The real solution will come from cheaper, lighter, recyclable batteries, which are on their way. Cars with cheaper and more recyclable ones are actually entering the market. The only problem is that they are less energy dense which make them impractical for use in motorcycles. Ergo: Electric bikes ARE the future. But hybrid ones? No!

I thought the petrol engine would charge the battery for the electric motor. Is that not the case?
I does but takes 12 miles running of the petrol engine to charge the battery

This certainly is very interesting and as you say the shape of things to come, but after 2035 will it all be silent running ?
It's an interesting bike; first of it's class on the market, lets wait and see what they come out with in 2, 5,10 years time.

Looked at this at Preston Superbikes. Cheap frame, cheap suspension,poor brakes, over priced. Only in my opinion you understand.

I wasn’t completely clear on the transmission function. Do you shift in gas mode but not in electric mode?
