- Join us for a Clawhammer stay-at-home special and treat yourself with this deliciously creamy, hoppy, and fruity milkshake IPA. Knock back a few of these if you've got nothing else to do and it might just brighten your spirits. Yeah, it's gimmicky, but this beer isn't just for your Instagram-worthy pics. It actually happens to be pretty fantastic, so don't knock it till you try it!
It's a hazy ipa made with a ton of malt and lactose for a full bodied, sweet, desert beer experience. We also used a single hop for the entire profile, which was the Loral brand from Yakima Chief Hops. Loral is short for "lemony and floral." It turns out that this hop pairs very well with this style of beer. Whether you're new and just figuring out how to brew your first beer or you're a veteran homebrewer looking for the next hit, this recipe will do the trick. We highly recommend it.

Everything will be back to normal by Easter. Boy that didn't age well
"The fu**ing challenger space shuttle blew up, those are all type A people." This had me ROLLING. Are you guys going stir crazy? Because by this edit I'm going to say, yes.
Oh, just you wait. The one we just shot (which is currently being edited) will put this one to shame. I think everyone is going a little nuts right now. We tried to capture that sentiment.
came down to say the same thing, what a spot f**king on analogy
"I don't have the cure, but I got the beer!" Come for the brewing, stay for the existentialism and comedy! :)
Cranked out 15 brews last year and I'm already on pace to smash that. Got 3 on tap now and 2 more in the fermenter. Creating a Coconut NEIPA to brew. Clawhammer Supply rocks! Great videos, keep em coming!
How was that coconut ipa??
You brag but good for you. Better be good for you.
that Challenger Shuttle comeback was PERFECT
The quality of videos from when I first subscribed to now is a drastic difference. Great work!
Cheers fellas! Thanks for the shoutout on the hops!
Was just about to email you. Thanks for the hookup!
Hey Erik could homebrewers also order from you? If so what's the minimum amount I could order? I like getting my hands on hard to get hops
Chris Snell I personally do not fulfill orders, but you definitely can order through Yakima Chief Hops’ website. They sell hops of all amounts with no minimum required! Hope I was of help! Cheers 🍻
The editing of this is phenomenal. It reminds me of It’s Alive with Brad Leone
Good to have you back guys
so glad to start seeing videos from y'all again.
Love the new video style, that was great. Also, love the new place. Can’t wait to brew this recipe
Emmet... my friend... you're the BEST!

I am highly fascinated by your humor. It's my favorite. 😂👍
You guys nailed it lol - brewing has kept me active. I’ve been home a month and I’ll be home til at least May
That's some type A production quality, guys. Congrats.
You guys rock! Especially Emmits girl rockin that Nirvana t shirt for Kurts anniversary.

Your video editor is killing it
Awesome vid guys 🤙🏻 Cheers from Belgium
Definitely one of the best edited videos of yours so far! I really enjoyed the video
Ok these videos are starting to get really good
Thank you for the vid! I needed this, I’ve had major brew balls recently.
I’m so glad you guys made this! My favourite beer style at the moment!
Loved it! Editing was great too!
Woo! New claw hammer, today's going to be a good day
I still haven’t brewed my first milkshake ipa 😩 maybe I will dive into this style over the summer. Great brew day!
Looks good! Milkshake IPA is next on my brewing list!
Hilarious... and mad props to your editor/graphics “team”. Love the cuts and animations!
It wouldn't be a clawhammer brew day without Emmett spilling something.
Great video. That quarantine editing though
Anyone else think Emmet looks like the "Apparently Kid" all grown up? Lol
Good catch. He outgrew the copious placement of apparently for beard.
Awesome brew. Entertaining and educational! 🍻
Brew when you can how you can, awesome video
Nice editing! Loved the video. Might try a milkshake IPA for myself too.
Love watching your videos and im somewhat new to the craft brew world but i love milkshake ipas. I just got back from hudson valley brewery and equilibrium🤘🏼
How about a crazy pastry stout? It might be the lockdown making me go crazy but I just feel I should throw tons of unhealthy sweet foods in my next IS hahahaha
Hi Clawhammer, I'd really like to brew this but would like to know starting and final gravity and wether you dry hopped or not. It's not in the recipe on the site. Thanks!
Dude, yeah-kima. Sincerely a Washington native. Love the videos btw!
amazing, just what we needed from you guys haha. weirdly enough bottling a milkshake ipa tomorrow
Pretty cool you got Zach Galifianakis to stand in for Emmit on the tasting!! Bravo!
When Zach Galifinakis first became popular, it was literally an issue for Emmet.
@@ClawhammerSupply hahaha I bet!!
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers love your videos too. Your the reason why I bought robobrew. Thinking of upgrading to Clawhammer Supply's brewing system just as soon as I can scrape some more expendable cash 🤑
@@chrissnell2007 nice!! Thanks for the comments!! I will be reviewing the clawhammer system shortly.. I have one now.. Be on the look out! 👍🍻
Short Circuited Brewers will do
Rewatching this and Kyle's comments on "type-A" people...XD XD XD
i see your Tasty Beverage shirt! all the tasteoids! i love johnny!
Spagett approves! Make cigarette juice next! It has all the nicotine and the tar that you need!
Thanks, Great content!
Great vid chaps!
Wow, good job!
Never had a milkshake up here looks interesting 🍻
Loved watching this brew session. Subbed!
Ooh, confirmed! Emmet is a cat-dude. Cool! Knew he was a kind soul, like all cat people are.
Kind of enjoying some of the wacky quarantine videos lol
Amazing vid, such quality! How's the filtration from the grain basket for hops? No debris?
No debris. Opposite problem (slightly). It took a while for it to drain which is why kyle was scraping it with a mash paddle in one of the shots.
Awesome video, sarcasm on point
A24 is a banger yeast for all hazys. Cheers boys, stay safe out there.
Nice video man..loved it...love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳
Very good video !
It’s Alive! With Dennis from Always Sunny and Beard Man Man
Hahahahahha...
Clawhammer Supply BA test kitchen fans??
😂😂😂😂I love y'alls videos.
I would love to see if you guys can make a delirium red clone.
I used to be dry stout only then got into dessert and milk stouts hated every ipa i tasted then one day i tasted a hazy juicy thiccc neipa on tap at this tiny brewery slash beer store and i was so sceptical. When i tasted it it changed my life they are my absolute favorite i had no idea beer could be that way i honestly thought it was a hopped pineapple orange juice blend... it was so tropical but it was super creamy at the same time it just screemed mixes drink. Blew my mind.
"Everything will be back to normal by Easter", he says in April 2020
You guys are awesome
Expecting a large pizza to show up about six, LMAO!!!!
I had a boil over on a glass cook top stove one time, be glad you didn't have to clean up that mess.
Oh God. Sounds like a disaster
@@ClawhammerSupply I had one on a gas cooker, added hops way too fast when it was boiling. Awesome video, can't wait for the next one. Cheers from Cold Feet Brewing (home brewery) in Munich!
You haven’t really wanted to kick your own ass until you have walked away from a pot of maple syrup you were finishing and let that boil over leaving 1/4” of burnt sugar all over everything. I wanted to just gut the kitchen and start over. Selling the house crossed my mind too
Whooha, finally somebody is using avantgardmalt from Germany. I use to get it directly from the kilning house for 16 Euros per 25 kg🤩
You guys make me laugh!
Awesome
Check out Mango Maya milkshake IPA, apparently this guy won an award at Stone for this recipe.
I just kegged it last week and it’s amazing, only thing is the coconut isn’t coming through. I’ll have to do it differently next time , maybe make a tincture or something not really sure.
Be safe and be careful guy’s 😎👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺🍺
you should try fermcap s to prevent boil overs. this product just straight works you add in around 2 drops per gallon and it prevents a violent protein break. you can also use it in the fermentor to prevent aggressive krausen.
Agreed, I don't need it with the sprayer on while boiling but if Im out of canned wort and have to make it, I use it to make a starter with DME.
Let me get another look at that bucket. You guys sell those? Thanks for another brew video.
Yep, they're in the products section on our site. We've tried a bunch of different types of fermenters but keep coming back to buckets because they just work.
Great video, I fuc!!! loved it. Thanks
Hey guy’s another great video. I’m thinking about getting into the brewing thing and just trying to figure out what’s the best way to start out.. ( Gas or electric ) I really like the system you guys use !! Do you guys sale apparel.. thanks
Hey Daniel, yes we make and sell the equipment that we use in the videos.
Thanks for responding back. I’m going to save money and get one of your brewing kits. Do you guys have t-shirt & hoodies for sale.. thanks
Happy Drunk Quarantine Friday
interesting! But how about Belgian Lambic without any yeast? Or Blanche... did u guys do this ?
Any recipe without hops? And without lactose addition? And using Baker yeast?
Trying to replicate this..Do you guys plan to get 5 or 5.5 gallon in the fermenter?
Which other hops do you think can work in this recipe? Apparently there is some kind of hop shortage here in Spain so not too many options and loral is not easy to find
PS the only thing I already have is Endeavour (never used it before) and some amarillo, there has to be some Mandarina Bavaria and Hull melon somewhere in my fridge but I don't think it can work
Hey guys, how come you guys never sparge? My most recent brew I've tried it cos I'm getting some bitterness and I giving it a go.
What are the advantages of wet yeast vs dry yeast? I'm curious. As a baker;) and a home brewer;)
How do you measure how much lactic acid
to add at 1:55 of the video?
These hops at 6:20 look really brown... were they OK?
When will you guys post this recipe?
1:48 “we’re just a little high”
Could we please have the detail of your water profile ? I don't know if you're using demineralized water or something else. Thanks !
Complete water profile details including what we start with and what we add are in the article which is linked in the description
@@ClawhammerSupply Great ! I didn't see that, my bad. Thanks !
Milk sugar does not ferment to dryness in brewing am I misinformed?
Can you please make a vid on how to brew ginger beer?
That's a good idea. We did a ginger cider that turned out fantastic. Check out that video for sure.
ermahgerd, I've just realised I've been watching your videos this whole time and wasn't subscribed!!! Forgiveness please!!!!!
Shame this man! (But thanks for fixing that) :)
Boom!
Bitter Sweet drink 😂
Where did you get the malts from?
I want to try and brew this recipe so I just want to know what I would need
Maybe a little late to suggest but I was looking to see if anyone has done an Easter hot cross bun ale. Maybe next year.
How do you calculate the amount of lactic acid???
Just do a couple drops at a time. Remember you can always add to it you cant take away
What was the target water profile?
Full water profile details including starting water, additions, and final profile are in the article which is linked to in the description.
What hardware is that?

Guy guys, he meant to say Easter 2021 everything will be fine
MILKSHAKE DADDY
Emmit's milkshake brings the boys to the yard
Do you sparge?
Do you even sparge, bruh? We continuously circulate wort whilst mashing but do not sparge with fresh water at all. Depending on the beer, our efficiency ranges from 70-75%. But you definitely could sparge by holding some water back and rinsing the grains at the end
Anyone have experience with this system? I’ve done four brews so far but my efficiency is pretty pour. Any ideas on how to increase it? I am using the 120 volt model. Thanks!
Finer grind on the mill. What is you water amount? I use about 7.5 at the most for a 5 gallon batch.
Thanks! I usually do between 7-7.4 on water. I’ll try out a finer grind!
Is your water chemistry and ph on point? Maybe up your mash time a little as well
Yeah, grind grains finer and make sure to measure pH (with a legit meter) and adjust 10 mins into mash.
Thanks for the help. Appreciate you all! Now just to figure out appropriate hop ratios. Funny enough, the last beer I made was a milkshake IPA!
Haha! Do you guys ever not make a mistake during brewing? Genuine quiestion.
Genuine answer: no.
First time I ordered a “milkshake” I was pretty sure they brought the wrong beer cause I was sure as hell not expecting something pale and juicy
