- This video explains my experience with a recent Sydney Grace eyeshadow bundle order and why I will not be supporting this brand until updates are made.
Later in the evening, I did receive an email response:
"Oh, wow, I wonder what the ingredient could be. I do know that we don't want you to have an allergic reaction at all. ... I will send an email and ask for the description in the bundles to be updated to say mattes and pressed pigment shadows. ..." She did include the address for me to return the items and said to include a note. BUT since I have a buyer, I'll go that route and not spend money to ship the items back to the brand.
My issue remains the same, if they can say "This bundle includes pressed pigments" for the November bundle, that tells me someone somewhere knows "pressed pigments" should be listed. So, why not include that information on all the bundles that include pressed pigments? Hopefully, the information listed will be changed.
If you haven't heard of Mel, I do recommend watching her videos. She's no longer here, but watching her videos still helps her family. She was an amazing person and produced spectacular content. I think it's safe to say, all of us who watched her learned a lot from her. She is missed more than words can express. / @melthompson2856

Sydney Grace did post on their website due to the holiday shipping times would take much longer. They also within a couple days stated because of the popularity of Mel’s bundle it’s sold out but as soon as it came in stock they would get those orders right back out. I feel Sydney Grace is one of the companies that their customer service is outstanding and they do post things so I’m a little discouraged that you would put anything negative about Sydney Grace and post it I also feel as an adult company didn’t respond to you in two days most companies take five days to respond to you they’re a large company there’s one person handling emails. Also when it comes to mail you didn’t have some facts straight.Mel didn’t dupe the retro glam pallet. she loved the mini palette which came out first. She wanted the large pallet. She wanted the greens and the pinks. So she came out with her large bundle over a year before Natasha DeNona came out with the large pallet. Mel wanted a larger pallet so she came out with her own large retro glam pallets with the pinks and the greens and the Browns. I’ve personally had the best of luck with Sydney Grace I had one situation and they quickly resolved it. I believe you need to take this video down because you’re putting down a company for not meeting your needs and you’re failing to take your own responsibility most shadows today do you have pressed pigments in it and again Sydney Grace stated during the holiday they were so busy that shipping times would be longer and you’re expecting during Christmas holiday when they’re trying to pump everything out for people to return your email in two days. That’s disappointing that does not sound like an adult that sounds like an adolescent temper to me. I love Sydney Grace so again I feel you need to take this down
Hi Michelle, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and watching/listening as I shared mine as well as my experience with the brand in this situation. I won't take down this video because it is about my personal experience and it's also about what I've learned (responsibility and accountability you mention I didn't take). Anyway, aside from that, I'll also keep up this video because I spoke on what I do love about the brand as well as encouraged others to continue to support this brand.
I think maybe you should watch and listen again. It may clear up some of what you've said in your comment; some which was untrue.

It's okay, she can voice her opinion too. I didn't mention anything about shipping in my video, so I don't know why that was mentioned. But, it's okay. I've learned from previous videos I've done that some people feel like a brand is being attacked when an opinion or experience is shared that's unlike theirs. It's okay because we each have a voice and we all deserve to be heard. Thank you, though. I appreciate your comment.
I totally agree with your comment. Sydney Grace has the BEST customer service!! I really don’t think this issue was that big to post a negative video about. The bigger brands with wayyyyyy more worker’s, be the rude one’s and rarely email you back when it’s an issue.
I ordered some really expensive Multichrome singles from another indie band and half of my singles came broken. The singles were $16-$18 per single. I’ve emailed the brand many time’s and they never emailed me back.
I’m not going to talk bad about them because I don’t mess with peoples money. I just knew I wouldn’t order from that brand anymore.
I definitely didn’t do a video about my broken singles or how they never emailed me back, I just left the brand alone all together.
I know one thing, Sydney Grace really really appreciate and cares about their customer’s. ❤️🥰
Hmmmmm I think it's subjective whether or not you consider this video negative, especially considering all the positive things I said about the brand.
What I spoke about was my personal experience. Whether it's viewed as positive or negative depends on what the hearer wants to hear.
As far as messing with people's money, I encouraged people to continue to support that brand. Soooo, I'm not understanding how this is negative.
Anyway, we each have our own perspectives and all are welcome here ☺️
Sydney Grace is one of the best makeup companies I know. Most of her shades are pressed pigments and they are all under the heading Pressed pigments. Bundles are made up of her usual shadows.
Strange because these were bundles and it didn't say any of them were pressed pigments, except the November one. When I emailed, they gave me the shade names of the pressed pigments in the other bundles. Each of the bundles I purchased contained 3 pressed pigments. I agree with you that it's a good company.

I’d say give them another day or so to respond because I’m wondering if they are trying to figure out how to move forward (just thinking about it being such a small business). Any pressed powder eyeshadow is a pressed pigment... some shadows have a higher percentage of pigment than others and that is why some people reacts to certain formula and that is also the reason you need to know what you are allergic to. As a consumer with allergies myself, I understand your point but it is our health not theirs and knowing what triggers our symptoms is our responsability.
Hi Marie, thank you for being here, watching, and commenting. I appreciate it. I agree that, as consumers, we need to know what's what. It does help when it's labeled clearly. I have learned some valuable information about the term/phrase "pressed pigments." So much so that I did a video titled "Heavy Metals in Makeup" or something like that. That video is in my "Let's Talk About It" Playlist. I did that video to share what I've learned and also hope it'd help others understand what they may or may not be allergic to.
That is definitely a frustrating situation. It is aggravating, in my opinion, when a website cannot be accurate.

Aaaah, that sucks, Dion. I've only heard good things about Sydney Grace. I do hope they at least email you back. Hopefully, going forward, they will list this information for all their shadows and palettes. OK, read the description box!

@shimmersandsilver I wonder if when they were selling single shadows, they didn't sell well. The only single shadows avaliable now are the ones from the Royal palette. So, if no single shadows, no need to have a palette. I'm just specuating. I have seen some cute empty magnetic palettes on Amazon.
I need a suggestion for eye primer. My lids are oily. I do have some reactions on some products….sensitive skin. Thanks!

My lids aren't oily. My go-to primer is the Fenty Beauty eye primer. Sometimes, I use E.L.F. No Budge Cream Shadow as an eyeshadow base. Sometimes, I use MCA Paint Pot as an eyeshadow base.
I suggest going to somewhere like Ulta and picking up a couple to try. Ulta because if it doesn't work for you, you can return it.
I have issues with watering eyes and itching. What are some brands to stay away from? I want to use make up, but it is a such a hassle to have itchy and burning eyes
I don't know because all watering and itching eyes aren't caused by the same thing. Unfortunately, it's been trial and error for me to find out what to stay away from.
I’m so sorry to hear this I hope that they include that in the future because any issue I have had they always contact almost immediately and rectify the issue
I hope they include it, too. It's required, here in the US, to say when a shadow is not intended for use around the eye area. Brands have been sued for not disclosing that information.
Oh dang sis 😔 now I wonder if they say it's a pigment shadow or not on each shadowy they have on their website singles 🤔
🤷🏽♀️ I won't be checking. I don't have any plans to look into purchasing from them again. Having to research stuff takes the fun out of shopping, especially when the information should be listed.
So sorry this has happened to you, I have sensitive skin too, but none of Sydney's shadows have bothered me any!
Thanks, Carla. That's good. TropiColor didn't bother my lids/eyeballs. Also, all sensitive skin doesn't react the same way.
I am sorry to hear of this experience, hopefully they are able to rectify somehow. I cannot use products with carmine at all, so that eliminates a lot of brands for me (ND, PM, ABH), it is what it is. I really like SG products and use their pressed pigments without issue, but most of the colors I have are on the lighter side, I don't have many of their deeper shades at all because they are too bold for me. I really do wish they would expand their shimmers line. But as someone who cannot use carmine, I am dependent on ingredients being on the website and that information really needs to be disclosed. So any brand that does not list their ingredients, no buy from me. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Ironic, when I ask a brand whether or not there's pressed pigments in their palette they ask about Carmine. Ironic because Carmine isn't a pressed pigment. It's great you know what you're allergic to. I wish I could pinpoint which ingredient(s) are pressed pigments.
I often tell people all sensitive skin isn't the same. I can wear some shadows with Carmine without issue. It seems to the deeper shades that cause a bad reaction. I think, for me, it depends on how much Carmine is in it.
On the brighter side of knowing some of what we're allergic to ... it saves us money 🙂
@@DionLuvsMakeup Yes, carmine seems to be a common irritant for many so that doesn't surprise me but there are many other ingredients that people may be sensitive to. I will not buy from a brand that does not disclose ingredients, period. I am a big fan of SG but totally understand their shadows are not for everyone. I went and looked at the website and saw that the pressed pigments were not listed on the bundle and they should have. Hopefully they will make sure this information is listed going forward!
Sad to hear SD hasn't updated their website yet. The response back was she would send an email up the chain and ask them to update it. 🤔
It's great when brands do list ingredients. I wish I knew all the different words used for pressed pigments so I knew to stay away from them. Until then, I'll get in the habit of emailing brands to ask 🤷🏽♀️
@@DionLuvsMakeup Yes, the thing with SG is most of their shiny shades are pressed pigments, they have a small selection of shimmers but not very many at all. It would be nice if they would expand that line but maybe they are just not as popular. I would buy them though. SG has a section on which of their products contain carmine which is really helpful for me so I know what to stay away from. But I was looking at the ingredients for some of the shadows I have and carmine was listed, I think they may just list the general ingredients (including carmine) which may be confusing for people. Initially I was thinking that I wasn't going to be able to use any of their shadows because they all had carmine. Yes, the website needs updating in certain areas. Hopefully they will take care of that. Regarding carmine, I had a couple CP shadows in palettes that had carmine but they were light colors and didn't bother my eyes, so maybe they can handle a small amount of it, still going to steer clear. Not worth the risk.
Some shadows with Carmine cause a bad reaction on my lids and some don't. It tends to be darker shades with Carmine. So, for me, I think it depends on how much Carmine is in the product. It's interesting.
I think that if I was allergic to pressed pigments, I would assume everything is a pressed pigment unless it was clearly stated. Buying something that you are unsure about and then complaining like it’s their fault, is pointless.

I had problems with Sidney grace bundles and repeatshades sent them emails never received a solution I totally feel you
Repeats aren't good. It did turn out there was a repeat shade in this order. I thought I was seeing things. And, one was cracked. They did email me back, though. Sad they didn't get back to you.

I was recently upset with a indie brand because of my allergies,my handmade eyeshadow palette came smelling like bug spray, I got the response from owner I spray all packaging with our best selling perfume and it took me 3 days to make your palette so I'm not giving u a refund or exchange 😂 I won't be buying from them,who sprays a Palette with perfume 😒 wtf
Da hell! That's crazy. I also have sensitive sinuses, what about other people who do too? She shouldn't do that. That's awful. That's another reason I'm hesitant to buy from smaller indie brands ... the lack of a return/refund policy.

In the US, companies/brands are required to say when a shadow isn't intended for use around the eye area. Someone over there dropped the ball real hard. Brands have been sued for not disclosing that information. I hope they fix it and quick. Nope, not you're fault at all 🙄🤪. T.T. is excited to get them, so it worked out.

I know this video is a couple months old but you should really give Sydney Grace another chance. They are a small indie brand but their customer service is wonderful. They are very busy around the Holidays. Also, they always have if the eyeshadow’s are pressed pigments.
If there’s a bundle you want to buy, you should look up the single individually and it will tell you everything you’ll need to know about the shadow.

Hi Chrissy 👋🏽. I never gave up on Sydney Grace. I said multiple times in the video I encourage people to shop the brand and how wonderful I think they are.
I won't order their eyeshadows because most seem to be pressed pigments. The bundles I mentioned in this video, 3 of the bundles didn't say they were pressed pigments. Maybe they do now, if they changed the information. So, saying to read the information is great, as long as the information is up-to-date.
And, I have ordered from them since then, but not for me. I ordered Mystery Bags and did a giveaway for them not too long ago.

My aunt can’t wear press pigments on her eye’s. I brought her some of Sydney Grace singles and I made sure to read each single description lol.

You're welcome, and thank you. They did add information to those other bundles, and I'm content with that. I still purchase from them once in a while during a sale and use the items for a giveaway. I think it's a good brand, just not for me. I agree, there are sooooo many options for eyeshadow.

Yeah, I'm not going to risk having a bad reaction. And, I'm not going to email them asking whether something is a pressed shadow or pressed pigment. It takes the fun out of shopping for makeup.
@@DionLuvsMakeup Definitely! I had bad customer service with a brand I bought alot from, and then my friend bought a whole bunch after I got her hooked on it. Now they get neither of our business.
I am disappointed in Sydney Grace for this. Seriously, they need to give customers more grace than this.
It is disappointing. I'm hoping it was an oversight. Hopefully, they'll update product descriptions. I do still think it's a good brand. It's just not for me and my sensitive self.
