  • Ian Hunter & the Rant Band performing Wings at Havana in New Hope, PA on May 7, 2017. The intro is Steve Holley on Drums & Paul Page on Bass. What a great performance by the entire band! Happy to hear the obscure tracks. Many thanks to Ian & the Ranters!! Catch them if you can......

Sorry you missed it too!! It's not too often you can't make an Ian Hunter Gig. It was another great night minus some of the usual suspects. Hopefully we'll catch a show in the near future.

I saw Ian do this back in 1989! In Portland Oregon. Interesting show. The fact was the Bus or Van carrying the bands stage clothes and other things broke down in the middle of nowhere. So the whole band (Including Mick Ronson) all wore street clothes. T- shirts and Blue Jeans mostly. It was an incredible show and even tho there we only 100 or so people there. We got our money worth, that's for sure.

Thanks for sharing your story. I saw them in Philly back in '89. It was the last time I saw Ronson. I was standing right in front of him during the show. They played Sweet Dreamer and Ronson was incredible. He pretended he was going to toss his guitar to my friend after the show and my friends expression was priceless.

Awesome story too :) To have Ronson almost tossing his Guitar, Priceless too. I went backstage and Mick and Ian were so kind to me. I felt like their little brother. It goes like this... I wanted to get a double E.P. 45 from Spain (or somewhere) autographed. (It was from the "Welcome to the club" album) Ian had never seen it before. He was amazed at it. He took me over to Mick who was sitting on a coach talking to someone. Ian said "Mick this is Dean, He has this weird single..." Mick stood up and grabbed my hand with both his and said "Nice to meet you, Dean" He was a sweet man. It was a special moment. I tried to stay calm. My girlfriend who was with me said I did fine and didn't act stupid.

You're a lucky man, getting back stage to meet both of them. I saw Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson several times but never met them. I got Ian's autograph a few years back but never really talked to him. I've been to more shows than I can count and never saw a bad one. The tour in '89 had several tunes he doesn't play often like "While You Were Lookin' at Me" and "White Light, White Heat". I'm glad I got to witness the great Mick Ronson.
