This entire line has been great fun. There is only one drawback to the figures and that’s the lack of an ankle swivel. I’ve been trying to complete the 12 inch turtles from the movie. Just missing Donatello.

I think these are cool figures for the most part. I had gotten both Scumbug and Wingnut as Christmas gifts from a co-worker, so after that I began tracking down Splinter, the Turtle Tots, and the rest of the mutants. Only one that has still eluded me is Leatherhead. Saw him and Superfly at Target at one point, but they had also just gotten Mouse-Jaw in stock and I wasn’t sure if they would still have them on my next visit. I couldn’t get all 3, so I had to decide which one to leave behind and try to get at a later point. And of course, Leatherhead was gone when I returned a few days later, and Mouse-Jaw has been peg-warming. Oh well, I’ll find him eventually…
On to my thoughts: Genghis Frog is sort of a weird one. I think he’s perfectly okay for little kids (I’m sure my kid will love him once we open him up, especially the tongue feature). Very small and not much to him, though. Your assessment of feeling like a Happy Meal toy is spot-on. Putting him side-by-side next to the OG, I would think they’re two completely separate characters.
Mondo Gecko is pretty cool and probably looks the closest to the original. I also like the skateboard, already makes it easier to display him on a shelf.
Scumbug also looks interesting. The puke and the framed Splinter picture are hilarious. I do feel like her legs are a bit too small, making it difficult to stand her up to display. Granted, these are meant more for kids like my son to play with, I think.
All in all, a decent series of figures. There are so many different types of releases from this line that I can’t practically see myself being a true completist. At some point, I might look into picking up the Pizzafire Van and the Sewer Lair, maybe the Cycles as well. I recently saw the Mega Mutant at a Walmart the next town over, so perhaps I’ll try to get that as well. I’m looking forward to the next waves from the rebranded Tales of TMNT line this year.

We just saw the 4 new figures in Wave 2 at our local Walmart last night and picked them up for my son. This is the first time seeing them here in Canada so hopefully they will become more readily available cause we still need the individual carded April O’Neil. Great deal getting them on clearance. With the exchange rate our figures here are $15 at Walmart and $17 at Toys R Us so getting them all has been kinda pricey.
