Hi Andre; I use a similar alloy block around the OE crossbar on my Tenere, connected by RAM ball to a RAM cradle, in which sits a Lenovo 8 inch tablet. In my experience, you absolutely will need some abrasive material between the crossbar and the block. Several attempts appeared promising until I hit Australia's infamous corrugated roads, when the tablet would creep inexorably around the bar. This ability of the tablet to move surprised me repeatedly. Finally, I used sikaflex betwixt bar and bracket. Job done! The RAM cradle, albeit a smaller version than yours, has proved sturdy and simple to operate. For power, I utilise a springy coiled usb c cable from the usb port on the bike. Simplicity in function trumps form.
Thanks Alf, I suspect that will be the case. I have a paper road book event this weekend so am just fitting a paper Roadbook holder to the bike. I think I’m going to try to mount that where the BMW Nav goes, and move the BMW bracket to the handlebars. I hope I don’t run out of time…. I know those corrugated roads can be brutal. I found some in Bolivia a few years ago. On one of the days, my DR650 shook a spark plug loose… 🤣
The Galaxy looks good and is solidly mounted. Pity that the BMW dashboard is a bit obscured. But who cares on a rally? Thanks for showing, Günter/Nürnberg
Nice work, Andre! I admire your patience with all these tedious installations. It looks like this configuration might just work out, however without being able to see the dash. I’m glad to see you’re going to install the Bark Busters and the Double Take mirrors. I am a fan of both of them, having installed both of them on my old KLR. I have the Double Take mirrors and some Zeta hand guards on the CRF. Best of luck in the rally. I hope you’re able to film some of it.
They are tedious 🤣. And that’s just the start. It’s all done now, and I have six videos to edit. Which is a joy, but I think it’ll all have to wait until after the weekend. The barkbusters were such an easy install and just fitted perfectly. Replacing the front ABS sensor was a complete PITA with half the bodywork to come off and even the right side expansion tank for the coolant to be moved.

I actually emailed Hellas and they said yes to use Samsung tablet with an app. However some my friends think it may not be strong enough for vibration or any unexpected fall. Not decide yet but I’d like to use Samsung with an app. Heaped and more practical it looks…
@@tomjones8883 hi, actually, due to other commitments, I haven’t signed up for any RallyMoto events this year. Too many weeks and weekends away doing other things. I did the Sweet Lamb Baja a few weeks ago, but I did that on my CRF300 (I still think of myself as being a novice going on reasonable trail rider, but I’m no enduro specialist and if I’m racing, I’d rather race other CRF300’s; Voge 300’s and Himalayans than KTM 450RR’s ridden by enduro experts. (I managed a 6th, 5th and 4th in my class out of 9, so was happy with that!)

I’ve now moved the BMW Nav bracket onto the bars to mount my Roadbook holder. The tablet will go up there for the next digital rally.

Unknown I’m afraid. I know they are switching to digital but I haven’t looked at the regs. Are you thinking of doing it with one?

Yup, and that’s what I’ve ended up with. I use it in Landscape with MyRouteApp for my day to day navigation these days.

How does the Samsung tab. Take the weather ?
Mine has been ok so far but I know some folks have had problems with water in the USB socket. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
